Forgotten Films

Anyone have a movie that has been forgotten? I mean something you may have seen and loved when you were a kid, but that nobody else seemed to know about, that you'd like to see again?

I have one called Saturday the 14th. It's a horror spoof movie that had Jeffrey Tambor in the role of vampire Count. Can't even find a Wiki on it.

I don't know why, but lately I have been remembering a lot of Gary Coleman movies I saw when I as a little kid.

"Top Secret!", staring Val Kilmer, Omar Shariff, and even Peter Cushing...

There was one forgotten sci-fi/scary film I saw as a kid that I'd like to see again, but unfortunately I've forgotten it as well.

And no, it's not Star Wars!

All I can remember is bodies lying on operating tables wrapped in aluminum foil. Disney's The Black Hole had a scene similar to this, but what I saw came before The Black Hole.

There was a movie I saw when I was a wee lad, somewhere around 1976-79, that I've been unable to identify. I *think* it was sort of a superhero movie, and the villain had a weapon that killed people and turned them into something like a mass of glass balls.

I'm fairly certain I saw this at the downtown theater, but I might have dreamed it. Some of my dreams around that age had credits sequences, and at least one featured a fork-tongued Darth Vader. No shit.

Two movies I've seen as a kid, and until IMDB hasn't confirmed to me their existence, I was pretty sure they were just dreams...

The Black Cauldron

It's a disney animated movie. It's fun, but no one seems to know what it is. And it's no classic, but is very entertaining.
Watch DarthEvil's Who Framed Darth Vader? video on YouTube!

Kind of scary...I've seen Top Secret and remember it quite well (at one point, Comedy Central would play it about 5 times a week) and The Creature Wasn't Nice, I hate to say, my family has on DVD.

Do foreign films count in this? Allegro non Troppo (Italian, 1977) seems like it would be a great addition to a list of forgotten films.

Or, how about this one: The Christmas Almost Wasn't.

I loved this movie so goddamn much. It's the most overlooked Disney movie ever despite being incredibly fun to watch. I was maybe 8 when I saw it and only knew a few stories they were playing off of but I was still enthralled.

Hey look, a bear!

The Black Cauldron was one that I loved when I saw it. I discovered later that it is the second of five books - The Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander. I recommend them wholeheartedly.

Flight Of The Dragons was great and few seem to remember that one.

I never forgot that movie. I was kind of traumatized the first time I saw it. For goodness sakes, they killed off 3/4 of the family!

Same kind of trauma I had when I first saw Jaws, or when I was 3 years old and saw the opening of E.T. Running through the underbrush, screaming with guys chasing him...I probably had nightmares for weeks.

I've already read the first two Prydain books thanks to the Disney movie take on it. Must now find the 3rd.

I remember Flight of Dragons. Great flick.
I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an Obi-Wan to go.

Red heads ROCK. Blondes do not rock. Nuff said.

Oh, there are tons of Don Knotts movies that people have probably forgotten, which is a shame. The Incredible Mr. Limpet, The Love God, The Reluctant Astronaut

I love that one. I think it's the very first movie I ever say in the theatre. I'm glad to have it on dvd!

Fez: I am so excited about Star Whores.
Hyde: Fezzy, man, it's Star Wars.

Today I watched 'Fandango' starring a young Kevin Costner. It was one of my Dad's favourite movies and he introduced me to it. I have never met anyone who has seen it or even heard of it, and today there it was on HBO, so obviously it's not a forgotten movie, but maybe just a 'slipped from memory' movie. Great film BTW - check it out if you can.

War does not make one great.

I've seen it!

Some movies that are slowly fading on my mind, as I've watched them all back in 1995, are the classic Troma flicks such as "Toxic Avenger", "Class of Nuke'em High" and "Bloodsucking Freaks".

Escape to Witch Mountain. I remember it being cool as all get out when I was a kid.

Rented it last year. It wasn't as good as I remember. In fact, it was pretty bad. Then I rented its sequel. It's so bad it's not even so bad it's good -- it's just bad. (If that sentence confused you, I succeeded.)

Dodsworth. The movie is from the 1930s. Great story about an older rich guy being manipulated by has selfish younger wife. He eventually decides to leave her for somebody who appreciates him. Great film.

Anyone ever see/hear of "Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid"? It was directed by Carl Reiner and stars Steve Martin. I LOVE that movie.
