DVD exclusives from various retailers.....

Here's a link to some other links of the various exclusives from Wal-Mart, Best Buy (US and Canada), Target and Circuit City:

HERE

Looks like the price of the Best Buy tin has come down (US $59.99).

I'm leaning towards the tin- although the lithos from CC look nice. Can't see too well what's in the Target editions. I have the original comic books already.

I'm probably going to go for the tin, if I decide to get this. The lithos and posters are nice, but don't interest me too much.

Looks to me like soundtrack CDs.
The tin is square, and the links say "MUSIC" & "CD"

However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…

Of all of these, I probably prefer the tin. But I don't feel like paying an extra 10-20 bucks for it.

Can't see anything about the Target or Circuit City exclusives on their websites - if anyone finds these, please post a link. I just cancelled my order at FYE, 'cause you can pick them up in Circuit City for $15 each on the day, which is better than waiting for the mail and then messing around with the mail-in rebates. But I think I'm switching to the tin!

I think that might be a mistake- it says "DVD" too.

Yes, it does say both DVD & CD.
Still, it looks nearly square -- like a CD case. Or the picture might be stretched.

I'm going to buy it in the store, so I'll check it out when I get there.

I think you have to buy all three DVDs to get all three corresponding folders/prints.

Still don't see anything on the Circuit City website. Is there a Target exclusive?
Author
Time
The link I put in the first post of this thread leads to photos of all the exclusives (so far).

Author
Time
Thanks, I followed those links. But where are those posters getting their info?
Author
Time
Probably from flyers. I got the Wal-Mart flyer last week, that showed the DVDs with the graphic novels. Most of the exclusives probably aren't available online (except for the BB tin).

According to label on the DVD box in the picture on the website linked (tf.n), the Target exclusive is 'exclusive concept art' I'm guessing that its postcard-sized prints of some Ralph McQuarrie art to me.

As for how they got their info, some are flyers, some are probably from employees. There has to be at least one employee at each of these stores who is a Star Wars fan and willing to post on tf.n or somewere like that what their store is doing.

The Wal-Mart exclusives are also available online. I went to all four stores today to try and scope out the goodies. None of them had anything to show - not even flyers. The Target ones look pretty missable - they are in the DVD case, which means postcards as Number20 said. The Best Buy tin looks the best of the four. Annoyingly, the guy in the Wal-Mart DVD department told me they had accidentally put them on sale on Tuesday 5th and sold a lot before they realised their mistake.

That sucks! I was a little worried about the Best Buy tin, and that they put them out early as well. Has anyone seen/bought the Best Buy tin yet? (from the store, not online)

Author
Time
In my local Best Buy, they won't go out until Tuesday morning. But even those big chain stores vary from place to place.

I was just making a comparison list for myself and thought i would share it. Maybe it will help someone else make up their mind on which exclusive to get for themselves.

Like i said, i made this list for myself but thought i'd share it. It's really just compiled info from here and a few other places but since i went to the trouble, i figured i post it. I hope it helps at least someone.

Did i miss any exclusives from anywhere? If so, please feel free to list them.

Thanks for making a list of these. The Wallyworld exclusives seem like the best ones. And who knows? Those old Marvel reprints might open a few eyeballs to what's on those bonus discs. It's interesting they aren't foisting those Dark Horse SE comics from '97 on people,
Odd thing is, the Star Wars comic is the first monthly issue cover, not the later collected Super Special.

Where were you in '77?

Looked at all the exclusives in store today. The Best Buy tin is by far the best, IMHO. The Wal-Mart comics are reprints; the Circuit City Lithographs are small campared to my theatrical posters; Target Schmarget.

I know that this topic fizzled a bit...

"Order one of the Unaltered Original Films (the first three pictured below) and you'll receive a special exclusive limited edition set of Topps Star Wars trading cards! While supplies last! Limit one set per person. Free card set to ship separately within 3-4 weeks."

"We've tapped into the mysteries of the Force to bring you this EXCLUSIVE Limited Edition Embossed Collector's Tin! Containing the original Star Wars trilogy and limited to 6000 units, This collection is never to be repeated!"
I think the tin looks better than Bbuy's - ezydvd tin

...any others?

You know that the ezydvd tin offer isn't the OUT release?

About the graphic novels, it's interesting, but they kind of petered out around the ROTJ release. Marvel took the first two adaptations in their own direction, with their own interpretation of the script and including many deleted scenes. The ROTJ has nearly verbatim dialogue to the movie, includes nothing that wasn't in the movie, and condenses a lot of stuff that was, making it a much shorter read. But the compiled version makes up for it by having several pages of artwork by McQuarrie, Freeborn, and others.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.
