The news on the radio today said Lucas signed on to do 100 episodes of the tv show.

ugh....this is going to be worse than the prequels....100 hours of whining and over the top ugly CGI (assuming its an hour long show...50 hours if its 30 min.)

it also supposed to take place between ep.3 and 4.

WHY? WHY? WHY?

The radio said C3P0 is the only main character who will be in the show. I guess this show will be about his journey fom the time of Episode 3 to Episode 4. I guess it could have been worse.

STAR Wars is to be turned into a TV series after creator George Lucas
agreed to complete his epic sci-fi fantasy.

The 100 episodes will fill in the missing years between 2005 prequel
Episode III Revenge of the Sith and original 1977 movie Episode IV
Star Wars. It will spark a multi-million pound bidding war between the
BBC and ITV.

Series producer Rick McCullum confirmed the TV version would go ahead.

Speaking at the Empire Film Awards in London he said: "We're very
excited - we just got confirmation George Lucas has committed himself
to writing the Star Wars TV series. I guess this is the news all fans
have been waiting to hear."

The movies are among the most popular ever made and tell the story of
the descent into evil of Jedi knight Anakin Skywalker and his
redemption by son Luke.

The first movie, Episode IV, has so far grossed £443million. It was
followed by Episode V, The Empire Strikes Back and VI, Return of the
Jedi.

Lucas waited nearly 20 years for special effects to improve before
producing the prequels, starring Hayden Christensen and Natalie
Portman.

In the final Star Wars prequel, Revenge Of The Sith, Anakin
(Christensen) joined the dark side to become Darth Vader.

The TV series will focus on the rise of Darth Vader's dark empire and
will feature original actor Anthony Daniels, who played dithering
droid C3P0.

None of the other cast, including Ewan McGregor in the prequels and
Carrie Fisher in the first three movies, will be involved.

Rick explained: "It'll all be new because the originals will all be
too old. But we will be using Anthony as C3P0 because there is such a
thing as loyalty."

100 episodes that is a lot of writing. I wonder if Lucas will change them before they hit reruns or syndication here in the US. If the BBC does get them, will we (in the US) get them all butchered up for commercials and with the stupid Logo, when they play on the SciFi channel? Maybe Viacom will get them for Showtime Questions Questions Questions.

A TF.N article about the show:

"First up, the Stars Wars TV series that we’ve been hearing about since Sith came out. “That’s not going to happen probably for another year and a half while we develop scripts and everything else. But it’s fantastic; we’ve got some incredible writers. It’s going to be much darker, much more character-based, and I think it’s going to be everything the fans always wanted the prequels to be . They’ll be one-hour episode. It takes place between Episodes III and IV. It’s going to be all-new characters, maybe a few bounty hunters in there to start the series off."

-> You've read that line: "I think it’s going to be everything the fans always wanted the prequels to be" ?
The "so devoted" Rick McCallum revealing (in a way) that the prequels were not what the fans were waiting for... Incredible!

Just a reminder, this thread was made to promote recent and definite upcoming tv shows with Star Wars content. Recent meaning that the program has an actual time and date. It's not really a discussion thread but an info thread.

The future SW TV program currently doesn't fall into this category, so if possible take the future SW TV show discussion to one of the other already existing threads. for instance: Update on the TV Show, and now Lucas is getting involved!

TFN has the scoop here.

I assume the version of AOTC they broadcast will the digital non-35mm one, and the OT will be the 2004 editions.

Slightly off topic....I was just watching "the world series of pop culture" on VH1, and one of the questions was: "In the 1980 film 'The Empire Strikes Back' Billy Dee Williams played Lando Calrissian, who's the administrator of what facility?" (or something like that).

So, there's 2 people on stage, both completely stumped. *cricket noises*
Neither one of them got the answer (it's 'Cloud City' BTW....LOL!)

Nope that is completely on topic. That's the goal of this thread to hopefully capture any reference to SW on TV, no matter how insignificant it might be. I'll look out of the rerun of this prog. who we're the contestants?, what round did the question come up in? post anything which might help locate the program. TIA!

Well finally something SWTV-ie goes to non-UK residents. According to rebelscum.com Star Wars Shortened will be available online at the Sky Movies Website.

tf.n has an article about the SW Saga in HD on Cinemax in November.

The Comedy Central Roast of Bill Shatner (Sun 10pm-11pm) might have some SW jokes in it since Carrie Fisher was in the audience.

and AotC will be on Fox Aug 27th : 7pm.

Just watched this, they did a priceless bit about George Lucas funeral. 'He died in 2008 but had his funeral delayed twenty years until the technology was right.' Complete with a CGI'd up funeral with various star wars characters and robotic walking coffin.
Hope someone sticks this on Youtube.

Very much in the mould of The Day Today or Brass Eye, albeit without Chris Morris.
