Do you think Lucas will put the documentaries From “Star Wars to Jedi”, “The Making of Star Wars” all restored and added in the dvd set this September? As well as the deleted scenes

That would be great, but it will never happen. The OOT is considered to be the "bonus material"

Scout trooper - the content has already been announced and does not include the items you mention.

Star Wars to Jedi..............oh the memories. That was one clever documentary.
For some reason, the "Hey, That's My Dinner" line has ALWAYS bothered me.

Those old documentaries aren't likely to see release anytime soon, as they have now been "superceded" by the new "Empire of Dreams" documentary. It's just like with the old Indiana Jones documentaries that have now been superceded by the new documentaries on the bonus disc from the trilogy set, making it unlikely we'll see "Great Stunts" and "The Making of Raiders of the Lost Ark", etc. anytime soon either.

However...

I do believe the deleted scenes will eventually show up. My theory is that there will be double disc sets released for the OT to match the double disc sets for Episodes 1-3, which will include deleted scenes and so forth on the second disc. I'm pretty confident about this, since Lucas likes to mirror previous releases (i.e. the first release of the SW trilogy mirroring the first release of the Indy trilogy). Perhaps at the end of 2007?

The real question is: how will the deleted scenes be presented? Will they be in their raw, unfinished form, or will they be "finished" and digitally added to for the sake of the DVD? My guess is the latter.

Geez, once again Back to the Future sets the standard to which Star Wars could easily compete if they felt like getting off their asses. The BTTF trilogy included both the original Making Of featurettes that were made when the movies came out along with a (then) new three-part Making of the Trilogy that went along with each movie.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

The BTTF sets are excellent but i'll stick to my Alien Quadrilogy being the best dvd set available today (both versions of the movies and an almost complete archive of bonuses) maybe the next year's Blade Runner definitive set will surpasses it...

i'll finish with a question i'd like ask to GL; "why making a huge archive at LFL if it's never used ?"

There are too many little things in them that contradict what Lucas says now about the OT to ever let them see the light of day again. Thank goodness for the Laserdiscs!

Where were you in '77?

Where can you get Star Wars to Jedi? I have never seen it, but would love to.

Try myspleen. Dr. Gonzo made the four classic documentaries(Making of Star Wars, SPFX: Empire Strikes Back, Classic Creatures:Return of The Jedi, and From Star Wars to Jedi) as a two DVD set. Also, they are on Rowmans Extras discs, which also contain lots of other worthwhile stuff to watch.

On the topic of contradictions, my favorite is the lines in "From Star Wars to Jedi" where Lucas talks about Special Effects: "A special effect without a story is a pretty boring thing" or something like that. The whole speech is actually pretty funny after seeing the preqels.

I wish LDs had been more widely available in Western Canada.
