Thanks for the seeding guys. I appreciate it.

I am sorry I had to keep you guys waiting...
Thankfully ADigitalFreakNYC filled the gap
I'll repay by seeding for as long as I can. I'm on to it now....
And now, for your feature presentation:
The Classic Re-re-re-release of Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back.
In this version the word "WOOKIE" has been changed to "HAIR CHALLENGED ANIMAL" and the entire cast has been digitally replaced by Ewoks.

Hey, baby hum... glad to see you back in action.

Finally picked up the torrented bh006 "When Star Wars Ruled The World" (I was demoted to dial-up until recently), and was a little disappointed that I didn't show up in the credits at all. I know you wound up using digitalfreak's capture over mine as it was better quality, and that's good. But I assume the extras are still the ones I provided, snagged from the VH1 website? digitalfreak is only credited with providing the main content. Just curious to see if it was my extras content that made it in.

Not a big deal... keep 'em coming; I look forward to every release!

Sorry sKot. I actually had the extras you sent me already. (I downloaded them from the VH1 website too). I'll try and make it up to you somehow.

Ah, that explains it. Not a problem; I'm just glad to see that it turned out well. I've now got every release through bh010 I think, except for bh005 (which I have just over halfway torrent downloaded, now down to a very slow trickle due to lack of seeders). I love the way the series looks on my shelf.

One other question, which is probably directed more towards digitalfreaknyc: how did your capture differ from the TiVo version I have, and how did you manage to get better quality? No doubt about it, the footage looks extremely good.

I dunno. Had I recorded with Dolby Digital instead of PCM, it would've looked even better! I used my stand-alone machine and that was done in the early days when I was recording everything with PCM. Had I used Dolby Digital, the bitrate would have been higher.

A couple of people have reported having trouble burning bh009 from myspleen. Have there been any successes?

I have had problems with bh006 with the VH1 clips in 2 out of 3 of my players. The main feature works like a dream, as does the Triumph bit...but the VH1 interviews skip like mad. I even made 2 copies of the disc.

Oh well....those players are a little old though, so I'm sure thats just the problem. My third player (my computer) plays them without a hitch.

No problem here. Burned with DVD Shrink which uses Nero and plays fine in all 6 of my DVD players.

Burned fine for me.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

This may be down to the fact that I think i encoded the VH1 clips with a very high bit rate. Older players may have problems with that.

I hope everybody is enjoying the new releases.

Yes I have. bh010 is very cool, alot of stuff I have not seen, and as usual excellent quality. Thanks baby hum. Look forward to your next ones.

My bh009 seemed to come out okay, although I had an odd glitch at first where the menu would only play the babyhum intro instead of the tracks it was supposed to play. It went away when I rebooted.

Also, I've only tried it on my PC, as I don't have a standalone player or TV.

I'm having trouble burning bh010, anyone else having trouble?

I'm a Mac user so i use Toast7 to burn it but it just crashes the app everytime i choose "burn".
Bh009 went great, and a few others as well but bh010 is giving me a hard time.

I'm eagerly awaiting that one as well, but I don't think it's actually been torrented on MySpleen yet. bh001 through bh010 have been up there, but that's as far up as they have gone. I've managed to pull down all of them up to bh010 *except* for bh005, which has been stuck for weeks at 95%. I'm pleading for seeders at this point!

Finally got the last of bh005 last night... thanks to whoever was seeding that. I'll leave it seeing for a bit since it took me so long to complete it. I now have bh001-bh010 finally. Sorry I can seed any others; I've run out of room on my hard drive and had to burn the rest to disc and delete them.

babyhum, what's next on the agenda after bh011 through bh015 or so? How about the Episode 2 "Connections" special with R2-D2 and C-3PO, has that been preserved anywhere? Seems like you've done most of the other recent TV specials that featured the droids.

Aren't the connections segments on the Story Of Star Wars DVD that came with the Best Buy version of Revenge Of The Sith on DVD?
I have no idea what my plans are for the future at the moment. I still have soooooo much stuff to put on DVD. Unfortunately work is getting in the way at the moment, but, since this afternoon, i am the proud owner of a MacBook so I will be utilising my lunch hours more fruitfully!

No "connections" segments on my "Story of Star Wars" DVD.
baby hum, are you still planning to release the classic Making Ofs? I know they've been put out by others, but I'd like to see them get the bh treatment.

I will be. They'll be transfers from my Japanese laserdiscs.
Author

Wasn't it your transfers that Dr Gonzo used for his 2 disc set? I would think it more valuable to make the best possible transfers without the burnt-in Japanese subtitles.

Any chance of using the US releases of the docs to help mask the Japanese subtitles or would that just look bad?

This is totally something I could see ocpmovie doing. I'm sure he'd have no trouble taking a US laserdisc cap (or even a decent VHS cap) of the specials and using them to matte over the Japanese subtitles on those better quality copies. I know he has sworn off Star Wars work for now, but maybe I could poke and persuade him a bit. All I'd need would be a good source for both the Japanese versions and the subtitle-less US versions. Maybe he could give the end product over to babyhum to add menus to for the final release. I'd sure like to see it happen.

In the meantime, I'm pretty sure nobody has mentioned it here so far... the EditDroid crew has quietly released all 4 documentaries along with some other additional material recently. If I can get their okay, I'll drop some more details about it. The transfers are great, but unfortunately they do contain the Japanese subtitles as well. We ought to take this into account in considering what to release, as it goes without saying that the EditDroid team does outstanding work.
