But I wish it actually would have been a surprise to Harrison! Man, that would have truly been hilarious! It makes me wonder how he would have realistically reacted.

Hmm, that's happened to me before with DivX videos. Maybe your computer is just going slow or something.

Damn, that's hilarious. Obviously, it's staged, but I'm glad to see somebody had the guts to show it to him! Who knows, maybe it will be George Lucas' turn next time?
"The things that stick in my mind and make me laugh were, like, memos worried about whether or not the Wookie should have pants. They're looking at this thing and saying, "Couldn't he have some lederhosen?" This is great. Of all the things to worry about, the Wookie has no pants." -Mark Hamill

I was not aware of this showing until after it aired, so I missed it. However, people wrote in to the site (www.starwarsholidayspecial.com) to tell me about it. I'm hoping to get hold of a good quality clip of the show so I can host it on the site along with the other multimedia clips. I'm wondering what the source of their HS footage was...

By the way, this is not the first time clips from the HS have been aired on TV in the US since 1978. On the 25th anniversary (Nov. 17th, 2003), FOX News showed a quick clip and talked about it briefly. But this is the first time I know of that it's aired on regular (non-cable) TV since 1978.

Which gets me thinking... not that GL does many interviews but if he did there *should* be nothing to stop someone from totally calling him out on various issues and really put him on the spot. Prior to the PT Hollywood seemed to hold GL in the same esteem that many fans did- 'oooo he's GL, isn't he all reclusive and improtant'. But these days (and even in those days for that matter) what 'power' does Lucas have other than over his own company? Its not like there aren't other effects houses or sound studios that can do a good-as or better job than ILM or Skywalker/THX and I *certainly* doubt many more high-caliber stars will be beating down his door to be in a GL film (if in fact any are made anymore) I would imagine any interviews GL does are very scripted as well and I honestly can't remember an actual 'live' or somewhat live appearence. But man- what I would give to see a Conan or a Leno just lay it on the line with some of his revisionist history BS! One can dream...

When GL was at Celebration 3, the chance was presented during at least 3 Q&A sessions for people to ask anything they wanted. I wasn't fast enough (curse my metal body!) to the microphone, or I'd have certainly dropped a question about the release of the Holiday Special or the original editions of the films. You had to be lined up before he even came in the room to even have a chance of getting to ask a question.

Yeah, If i recall there was a really hilarious question where a fan asked if Lucas thought that when he died his body would dissapear like the jedi's.

Finally watched the clip last night...Ford's reaction is quite good.

I described the action to the rest of my family. My dad said Ford should have pretended to shoot Conan under the table (ala Greedo). I explained that Ford was next to Conan, rather than in front of him (making the angle very difficult), then I suggested that if it had been done that way, Lucas would have had to edit the film to make it look as though Conan shot first.

You remember the part where someone asked him about the relationship between him and McCallum? Although this fan was obviously questioning them about their professional relationship, Lucas and McCallum started acting like they were homosexuals and going along like that fan was questioning him about that kind of relationship.

I wonder...

On Rikters release list he now lists BLACK0054 as The Holiday Special - WCBS Version and BLACK0043 as an "IN PRODUCTION" Holday special. This is in addition to the KCCI and original E-bay KCMO version that already exist. Anyone have any info on these latest versions?
