Tenebre. I think I picked a good first Argento movie.

My Little Pony: Equestria Girls. Not as bad as I was expecting. Not as good as Friendship is Magic though.

Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood
The MPAA really did a number on it, but it’s got a very strong story for the series.

Starchaser: The Legend of Orin (1986)

A 1980s animated Star Wars knockoff that I somehow have only recently discovered. It’s a fun curiosity from the time. The designs of all of the ships are really interesting. And surprisingly, they used CG for all of the ship shots. It seems like they animated them as wireframes and then painted over them. The rips from Star Wars are pretty blatant, they even use a Millennium Falcon sound effect for the main ship. But it’s original enough to provide a fun time.

The film Wendell and Wild was a fantastic movie that was perfect in that it gave time to diverse issues. However, there were some problems it had when it came to not giving enough time to some characters, and giving too much time to others. A must see and another great one from Henry Selik, though it is not a masterpiece.

Star Wars has 3 eras: The eras are 1977-1983(pre Expanded Universe), (1983-2014) expanded universe, or (2014- now) Disney-bought version. Each are valid.

Highlander. I’m sorry, but I hated it. Yes. Hated it. Quite possibly my most unpopular opinion yet. In the dictionary definition for “cheesy/campy”, there should be a still of this movie. The best part of the movie was the 18th century duel scene which was pretty funny and a brief breath from the dullness of the rest of the film. The fact they didn’t even bother to hire an actual Scottish actor for MacLeod’s part showcases the sheer incompetence here.

However, there were lots of unintentionally funny moments throughout the film. Particularly the first time you see Heather as an old woman. I burst out laughing because of how shitty the makeup job was. She looked more like she had a fucking skin condition more than anything else.

Queen’s music was great, though. But not even that, nor could Sean Connery’s wit and charm, save the film. And I’m certainly not going to watch the universally panned sequel.

Proof that '80s pop culture gets too much praise.

HOWEVER…if this film isn’t MEANT to be taken seriously, then I take back most of what I said.

P.S., If you liked this movie, that’s fine. But don’t you dare do the whole “YoU jUsT dIdN’T gEt iT” rhetoric.

When’s something gonna happen?

THE KEEP (1983)

Michael Mann’s second film. Brilliant atmospheric opening but it feels like it drops off toward the end.

THE HIDDEN (1987)

Kyle MacLachlan as an FBI agent on the hunt for something preternatural, what more could you want?

The film Black Panther Wakanda Forever is a story about grief and not letting that pain ruin you or the world around you.

Clerks 3. I hated it, such a down ending and i hated how it ruined the second movie.

Edit:

I watched Black Adam. It was decent i was expecting it to be awful. Pierce Brosnan was a letdown though, miscast as Doctor Fate. He looked bored and didn’t sell his performance. The only other casting that was bad was Noah Centenio, the rest were fine. I was expecting the Rock to be bad in this and was pleasantly surprised. He isn’t an actor but he was more than okay playing his role.

Cavill was was wasted as Superman. He was strangely back in his Man of Steel outfit and the Williams theme was bizarre. Its like its in continuity with the Whedon cut and not Snyder cut of Justice League. In it for like 2 seconds Why?

I just saw Terminator for the first time and it was great. It’s interesting how I knew the entire premise through pop culture osmosis and what I didn’t know was predictable yet I had so much fun with it. I’ll be looking forward to the second one since I hear it’s really good too.

You’re assuming JadedSkywalker pays to see them. How do you know they don’t acquire copies in a routine burglary?

“The Anarchists are right in everything; in the negation of the existing order and in the assertion that, without Authority there could not be worse violence than that of Authority under existing conditions. They are mistaken only in thinking that anarchy can be instituted by a violent revolution… There can be only one permanent revolution — a moral one: the regeneration of the inner man. How is this revolution to take place? Nobody knows how it will take place in humanity, but every man feels it clearly in himself. And yet in our world everybody thinks of changing humanity, and nobody thinks of changing himself.”

Because i genuinely liked the earlier efforts and i like Steve Carell. But yeah i rented most of them. Its only about 6 bucks for an HD rental. I’ve never really regretted paying to see something recently, except maybe the last Jurassic World but that was dumb but entertaining. Something i wasted money on and never finished. Dr Strange 2.

My niece and nephew keep trying to get me to watch Disney Star Wars. But i’m not interested. 10 bucks a month for that service and you own nothing. I like to own my Star Wars on physical media. Even if it is bad.

The last one i bought tickets for was Force Awakens. I might go see Indiana Jones V but if i do i would be a fool to trust Lucasfilm again.

I watched Kill Bill this week, both volumes.

At first, I was kind of let down. This might be a hot take, but I think Vol. 1 is Tarantino’s worst movie. It’s the definition of style over substance: just a never-ending deluge of nonsensical plot points and ridiculous violence, with almost no substance or depth to anything. The soundtrack kicks ass, but that’s the only outstanding part of the entire movie.

Vol. 2 is a lot better though. There’s less blood, less cheese, and more nuance. Tarantino’s strongest aspect, his dialogue writing, is at full force here. Almost every character from the first movie is given much more depth than they seemed to have at first. The soundtrack’s still amazing too.

Over all, I’m glad I watched it, but I still wouldn’t consider it Tarantino’s best. It’s a shame that this movie forever associated Tarantino with “ridiculously bloody hyper-violence” in most people’s minds, when he’s so much more than that.

My preferred Skywalker Saga experience:

Do it. It’s gonna be great.

The most memorable thing to me about that movie’s dialog is that Quentin Tarantino apparently doesn’t understand Batman. Bruce Wayne is the disguise, ya stupid Bill.
