The film Fantastic Beasts 3 The Secrets of Dumbledore is not only a fantastic continuation of the Fantastic Beasts series, but also helps to explore the message that not even the very wise can ever know all means.

Star Wars has 3 eras: The eras are 1977-1983(pre Expanded Universe), (1983-2014) expanded universe, or (2014- now) Disney-bought version. Each are valid.

Modern Problems.

A hilarious, underrated gem.

I saw Everything Everywhere All At Once in theaters over the weekend, and it was absolutely fantastic. It’s basically Parasite meets The Matrix meets a tab of LSD, with a surprisingly heartwarming message framed by exhilarating action and hilarious comedy. Definitely the best movie of the 2020s so far, and possibly one of the best movies of the 21st century.

I watched about 20 minutes of Uncharted. I don’t know if i’ll ever finish it. The Spider-Man kid is miscast as Nathan Drake and the deviation from the source material is so inept and incongruent, its suspect.

Finally saw The Batman.

It was just OK.

I saw it again myself. Worse on a second viewing, unlike Nolan’s films its completely uncinematic. Very little happens. Batman has no agency whatsoever. Stuff just happens to him like he is a victim. Maybe it could be improved on in a sequel since this was like a prequel before he became The Batman we know, but i’m not sure i would be on board. As in someone who would purchase a ticket.

I’d actually say the opposite: I think the recent Batman is way more cinematic than Nolan’s trilogy. The new movie has an almost noir-ish aesthetic that feels like one of the 80’s graphic novels it’s inspired by, whereas Nolan’s movies feel sort of flat in comparison. And I disagree that Batman had no agency: this was the first Batman movie to actually show the “world’s greatest detective” doing detective work, rather than just punching people. Just because there’s not much action doesn’t mean nothing’s happening.

Overall, I really liked the movie: in my opinion, it’s probably the closest any Batman movie has gotten to capturing the true essence of the character. It was a bit too long though: they could have trimmed about 40 minutes of runtime and it would be a lot better.

I just came back from seeing this and I gotta say that though it was good, I didn’t love it. My girlfriend described it as three films in one and I agree, but the big sci-fi frame tale aspect gets basically dropped halfway through and that was the part that most interested me. Still super inventive action and some laugh out loud comedy. Would recommend, just don’t expect perfection.

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

I tried to stomach Gamera vs. Jiger last night.
Suffice to say, I did not have the mental capability to finish it.

The last film I watched is Father Figures. I think it’s a good movie. Watching it I was moved.

I just watched Donnie Darko for the first time. I had heard critical acclaim for the film for years but never got around to watching it. It was absolutely amazing. It’s the kind of film that can only be seen to appreciate. It successfully combines drama, comedy, science fiction, horror and experimental filmmaking flawlessly. The story was very original for once. There are so many things to analyze and notice. It’s the kind of movie that requires multiple viewings. The performances are all perfect and fit the characters exactly. But I think the most impressive aspect is the budget. They were able to do so much with less than 5 million dollars. So many intriguing and creative imagery is in the film. This is a film that a recommend to anybody, regardless of taste. It has something for everyone.

Donnie Darko is one of my favourite movies and I still don’t know what it’s about.

Watched the Long Halloween. It was a much better Batman film to cleanse the palate. The animation was kind of cheap looking, and some of the comic book silliness was in part 2. But overall it was a good Batman story and compelling. It definitely felt like Batman, not like trying to be a David Fincher movie, or a Scorcese movie. 4 out of 5 stars.

Catwoman Hunted was a huge miss. Only Catwoman design was good and her voice over. The plot was ridiculous and i quickly lost interest even for an anime where you aren’t supposed to take things too seriously it wasn’t all that much fun beyond the costume party at the beginning. 1 star out of 5.

Hush a godawful adaptation. Cheap animation looks nothing like Jim Lee’s work on the book. And they changed the villain and ending ruining it, crap, pure crap. I’d like to give it negative stars but i liked Catwoman in it. 1 Star out of 5.

The Ice Pirates.

Great screwball sci-fi b-movie. I particularly enjoyed the IDGAF vibe.

Doctor Strange 2 In The Multiverse of Madness is an excellent story with the message that you cannot get lost In what might have been, but rather you must accept the now.

Just saw Everything Everywhere All at Once! My thoughts coming out is that it was good, but not great. I guess I didn’t enjoy it as much as everyone else (and by everyone else, I mean the 8.8 rating on IMDb. Take it with a grain of salt). I still liked it, and I recommend it. I just wasn’t wowed by it.

The biggest issue I had with the film was the runtime. It’s a little too long at 140 minutes, and I think the ideal length is somewhere in the 120-130 minute range. If the film had been made shorter, I’d probably be going gaga for it. I also have to be honest and say that the theme of finding meaning in meaninglessness is one I’ve dealt with already, so it didn’t boggle my mind as much as it did for everyone else. To me, the basic message I got out of the film is that water is wet.

Otherwise, this is a bizarre movie of the good kind. Michelle Yeoh did a great job in the starring role, and come to think of it, so did everyone else who played a member of the family. When you consider that most of the cast is taking on dozens (or hundreds in Yeoh’s case) of roles, it’s hard not to be impressed with the acting on display. The visuals are also on a level of insanity that’s so much fun to watch! It’s a plot where everything is dependent on how random the characters can get, and this results in some ridiculous (but hilarious) circumstances that have to be seen to be believed! There is one shot in this film that I can never describe in words because it would take several novels to explain what everyone is doing. It’s not often that I would praise a film for being so chaotic and disorderly, but this is one exception where the chaos and disorder is the point, and it works.

So while I have a nit or two to pick with this movie, it’s still a wild and fun ride that I enjoyed enough to recommend! If it’s playing in your area and you feel like seeing it, I say give it a watch!

I have altered Lucas’ visions. Pray I don’t alter them any further.

I watched 2001 for the first time last night, and I must say, there’s definitely some worth in it, but I still don’t understand a lot of the hype. Even for my taste, the first half has too much monkey and way too much music. The second half is very much the superior portion of the film. Granted, I’m not used to the style of Kubrick, but as this is my first Kubrick film, I might warm up to it later on, for now, though, it’s a decent 3 monolithic slabs out of 5.

I think I might leave the pod bay doors closed for a while.

I watched Belle. It was incredibly disappointing. Probably Hosoda’s worst film. A loose remake of Beauty and the Beast. The secondary world of U is completely undeveloped. The ending is confusing and rushed. I guess the music was decent and in places the animation was good. The dub was workmanlike not excellent. 2 and a half stars.

I just finished watching Kill Bill with my dad. Strange movie. Completely ridiculous yet takes itself seriously and does all kinda weird stylistic choice. I just don’t know what to make of it. I guess it made good use of non-chronological editing.

I watched Sonic the Hedgehog 2. It wasn’t a great movie by any stretch, but i liked Tails and i liked the end of it when Sonic goes Super Saiyan basically. I also think Idris was great as Knuckles. A dumb kids movie but enjoyable.

So I finally saw Airplane a coupla nights ago (I had only seen the trailer before)…

Deserves all the praise it gets. This movie cured my depression.*

Super hilarious. I will never tire of Johnny.

Recently rewatched Nuovo Cinema Paradiso, and now that digital projectors are displacing film projectors gave my viewing experience an extra layer of sadness.

Seriously, if you don’t like this movie, then you don’t like movies, period.
