I really enjoyed all your FX enhancements, so has everyone I ever shared your edit with. Including my son. I love what you did with the end battle. First time I watched it, it blew me away! It is my favorite part of the edit. It is disheartening to know that you think of it as a failed experiment. Fans already have 4K77 and Despecialized for anyone who wants to watch the originals. You are our Special Edition guy. I hope you reconsider.

Vaders eye looks a little too reddish here.

I’m not sure why his eye looks so red in that screengrab, because it doesn’t look as saturated on my edit timeline.

That looks a lot better.

This all sounds good to me. I’m looking forward to seeing your tweaks to the existing footage.

I think people that are disappointed are forgetting that your Battle of Hoth was largely the same but still featured fun surprises and plenty of visual upgrades.

The blackest eyes… the devils eyes.

I was slightly disappointed by the loss of the extended battle, but honestly, a battle with redone lasers, the orange Yavin planet in the background (which makes it look much more visually interesting IMO), Luke actually having an appropriate reaction to the death of his friend and Vader’s helmet fixed is pretty great and satisfactory to me.

Don’t forget “Blast it Wedge, where are you!?!” and adding appropriate wing numbers to X-wings.

For the new Death Star reveal above Scarif could be used the Imperial Suite.😀

I thought the extended Death Star battle was brilliantly done just like the extended Hoth battle for ESB:R. I’m shocked and disappointed to hear that it won’t be a part of the HD version of ANH:R. 😦

Guys, Adywan just means there won’t be like ~40 seconds of extra footage. He’ll still improve what we see, certainly add ships in the background, new FX stuff, Yavin in the background too… Lots of the little fixes, just none of the extra, dialogue-less dogfights. But he’ll still be working on the Battle. It’ll be more akin to how he did the Battle of Hoth - not changing a whole lot content-wise, just adding on and improving what is already there.

The Battle of Yavin will be enhanced like the Battle of Hoth, it just won’t be extended, which is a good thing pacing-wise.

Alec Guinness did say at the time that the Battle of Yavin ran about five minutes too long.

I can’t believe he saw SW Revisited and had that to say about it. What a critic.

I kinda wish that instead of having that one they had Luke do two trench runs like originally planned. It’s always more engaging when the main character is involved.

Are footage from the ROTJ Space Battle still going to be added to the Battle of Yavin?

ANH:R had some shots included from the ROTJ Space Battle that were unused footage from the Battle of Yavin.

What’s the plan for the “Look sir, droids!” scene?

Ady’s old edit used the Special Edition version of the scene (with the CGI dewbacks and extra shots of troopers “combing the desert”), so I imagine that’s what he’ll be doing in this version.

If you want it paced like the ‘77 version, Hal9000 has you covered.

I was watching the Regraded Blu-Ray from Ady and, I found something. I’m just gonna let these images speak for themselves.

(If the images aren’t showing up, I’m trying to fix that issue.)

If you look closely enough, Mark Hamill is carrying a prop that looks closely like a lightsaber, possibly a reference to his role in Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope (1977), of which was filmed around the same time.

Good pickup!

What are you trying to point out, Evan.

Well, I’m showing that in this shot, one of the grips looks to be absent, and the clamp lever wasn’t fully closed.
While in other shots, that isn’t so.

(Thought it was a small continuity error.)
