I have to say, I’m really happy with the reception the puppet show has gotten. It’s not a big thing, but it seems like it will be a nice little detail fans will notice.

It truly is legendary stuff right there.

It’s one of the most impressive special effects shots I’ve seen in this edit (not to lessen any other work that’s been done), especially given the original scene is practical effects in broad daylight.

And any references to TLJ Luke that can be put in this thing greatly improve the continuity. I’ve said it before, but probably the single most baffling thing about all of TROS is that TLJ ended with Luke’s legend spreading hope across the galaxy, TROS ends with individuals from across the galaxy uniting together, and there is NO direct connection between the two. It’s like TROS was written by… no one?

Even the title of the movie would make you think that the name of Skywalker is what is making people rise up.

I know hindsight is 20/20, but like, why the hell didn’t they come up with this lol.

EXACTLY! The rise of the Skywalker legend. The “rise” of the people inspired by Skywalker. It’s right there. That’s what I figured one of the meanings would be when the trailer first dropped.

Perhaps it was written by a Palpatine, that would explain a lot

I mean, it’s “not a big thing” in that it forges a direct connection between the final film in the trilogy and its predecessor, thereby allowing TROS to function as an actual continuation instead of a clusterf*ck of bad story decisions and amateur writing faux pas.

Not a big thing? Mm-kay.

Exactly as RogueLeader puts it sherlockpotter, its a puppet show not a big deal to the films grand scheme of things yet part of many small changes that make up a much better film as a whole.

Hey, so I know there’s been a couple of ideas about using Voice AI replication software to get new lines out of people such as Kylo Ren or Luke.

Anyways, I just finished watching the new episode of Disney Gallery about the Season 2 finale of The Mandalorian and they talked about how they used this software called ReSpeecher to replicate Mark Hamill’s voice from back in the day for his new lines. Granted, they had raw audio files from the films to use. But, I think with stuff like the Lego Force Awakens game, we could get some good stuff for Kylo Ren at least.

Has anyone looked into possibly using this? I know on the website (here: https://www.respeecher.com/?hsLang=en) it says something about scheduling a demo or whatever. I’m not sure what kind of price it has but has anyone thought about maybe biting the bullet and looking into it?

I’m curious if we could get a general sense of what crackling saber shots we have, and which scenes/shots we are still lacking.

Author

We currently have completed:

  • Duel in Kylo’s quarters
  • Duel on the DSII
  • Everything on Exegol

Still needed are:

  • Opening training sequence (I can’t boot into Sierra right now to check, but it claims to be created last year so I think this is just kewlfish’s original, but it could be from Luka Frik and be finished)
  • Underground with the worm, and faceoff with Kylo’s TIE
  • “I think you’re okay” on Kijimi

My stance on revising fan edits.

Oh wow, really? In that case we really don’t have that much left. I recall seeing some version of the training sequence with the crackling saber, but I don’t know if it was finalized or not.

The cave sequence and Zorri’s introduction are pretty simple, as far as the saber moves go. If we’re this close to completion, I definitely think we can push to complete the rest of those shots before the next version.

I think Skywalker Sound used some modern voice manipulation technology to have the late, great Alec Guinness speak Rey’s name. I wonder if we could try and replicate this method for a few potential new lines of dialogue? 🤔

That’s just a list of all scenes where the Skywalker saber is lit. The first three already have the crackling effect added to the blade by editors here, the last three don’t have finished crackling effects yet.

I believe for Alec Guinness, they took “Don’t be afraid” from his quote while talking to R2-D2. The inflection is identical, and this was long before work on The Mandalorian.

If I knew which effects were used for the other scenes, I could potentially chip away at the remaining saber sequences. Maybe I could just find something similar in After Effects.

There’s also the VFX left for Rey’s eyes in both the vision and when her Dark Side self flares.

The name’s Lawson. Noah Lawson.

That’s on my to-do list.

Can’t wait to see what you do with that NeverarGreat! We were planning for her to have her regular eyes to replace the blind milky ones that appear in her vision, and for Sith yellow ones to flash when she flares her sharp teeth.

The name’s Lawson. Noah Lawson.

If I recall correctly, she looks a lot more like Palpy with those eyes. Kinda vampiric, too. Can’t wait to see the final product.

I’d like to see a preview clip of those if at all possible! ^^

I know MoviesRemastered was working on the other scenes before his computer started acting up earlier this summer. I’m not sure what his current status is (You okay, MR?), but I would check with him, see if he has any suggestions.
