General Star Wars Random Thoughts Thread — Page 458

It has been established that droids can feel pain, as evidenced by the droid torture chamber in Jabba’s Palace, though C-3PO seems to shrug it off (maybe he occasionally reacts to pain when being reassembled but my memory is fuzzy on that one), so it seems droids have a pain program that can be activated.

My question is why would droids be programmed to feel pain?

“I warned my apprentice that as he grew stronger his equal in the light would rise. Skywalker, I assumed, wrongly.”

He wasn’t entirely wrong.

Also, do you think maybe Palpatine was written to want Rey dead in order to harmonize or lampshade the weirdness of his proxy (Snoke) seeming to pretty sincerely?

My stance on revising fan edits.

Would anyone here be interested in a Star Wars voting thread? Not just another thread where everyone ranks the movies, but one where the placement would have point values. Someone would then add up all the points to make a general consensus of everyone who participated.

It could be just the movies, or could include the animated series and The Mandalorian. Maybe the Ewok movies and Holiday Special too. All of that would have to be decided in advance so everyone is on the same page. Going by the name of this community, pretty sure the Original Trilogy movies would come out on top, but it would be interesting to see how everything else placed after that.

I’d support that. Sounds fun.

Yeah, I’d be interested in that.

But we can’t turn back. Fear is their greatest defense. I doubt if the actual security there is any greater than it was on Aquilae or Sullust. And what there is is most likely directed towards a large-scale assault.

ROTS has the least Star Wars-y score of all 9 saga films, but it’s beyond incredible and fits the movie - which itself breaks many SW conventions - perfectly.

Once I finish ‘Light Of The Jedi’ I think I’ll drown it in darkness.

I’d like to watch the movie-fied version of the KOTOR game(s), followed by reading some or all of the Old Republic era novels. Then the Darth Bane trilogy (which I remember enjoying a handful of years ago), then Darth Plagueis (again).

By then I’ll have excavated and explored the Dark Side to harness its power for my own ends.

Watching The Rise of Skywalker for a second time definitely made me enjoy it more for what it is and realise I think the best comparison for it is Sam Raimi’s Spider Man 3. Both suffered from being overstuffed, both messed with established lore to certain degrees, had studio interference in production, had uncomfortable endings, and yet both can be fun and cringeworthy at the same time. I’d say Spider Man 3 is slightly better though.

The Rise of Skywalker is now ranked eighth in my rankings just ahead of The Force Awakens and right below The Last Jedi.

“Heroes come in all sizes, and you don’t have to be a giant hero. You can be a very small hero. It’s just as important to understand that accepting self-responsibility for the things you do, having good manners, caring about other people - these are heroic acts. Everybody has the choice of being a hero or not being a hero every day of their lives.” - George Lucas

Not the first time I’ve heard about it, but yes, I’m a huge fan of the idea of the Force being inherently evil, which would explain why dark side powers are much more awesome than light side powers.

I’m pretty sure Lucas would argue that destruction doesn’t qualify as true power. That’s kind of the whole point of the SW movies. Heck, the OT even ends with Luke choosing not to fight.
