Yeah, Duracell was the glue keeping Off-Topic together. With him gone, I doubt many people will want to post here. It’s a shame, but I understand why it happened.

Star Wars has 3 eras: The eras are 1977-1983(pre Expanded Universe), (1983-2014) expanded universe, or (2014- now) Disney-bought version. Each are valid.

I think the glue holding Off Topic together was Frink (just by the sheer volume and hilarity of his posts), but he joined the “abuse the guy who made this site possible” bandwagon, unfortunately. Duracell was the just the last of a handful of members who were major contributors to Off Topic, all of whom have now been banned or rarely post anymore.

The thing is, Off Topic had a certain flavour unique to the Internet, but when it became moderated and the rules changed, the kind of people it had attracted in the past and which had made it so much fun also became the kind of people who didn’t like or disregarded the new rules. And then the Politics thread became a catalyst for a personal conflict, which resulted in the Off Topic contributors being decimated, and which has never really ended (the only thing ending it is everyone on one side getting banned for keeping it up).

Ha, yeah, pretty much. Once more people started coming West, the mods understandably wanted things to be a bit tamer.

Just like to say this before I go.

I kind of miss the good old days when I got roasted by Duracell, Frink and other members for my immature posts and weird ass threads. But when I came back 2 and 1/2 years ago and gained respect and matured, Off-Topic still was great, but when Frink and Possessed got banned, the charm slowly faded, and now with Duracell gone, Off-Topic finally went the way of Rome. And originaltrilogy.com became mainly a Star Wars forum again.

That’s it for me.

One half got banned, and the other half (me included) left.

When’s something gonna happen?

In my early teens i got obsessed with 2Pac’s music & Death Row Records in general. I had, and still have, hundreds of unreleased 2pac songs, some versions of the songs never leaked, for some reason when i got into the community deep, people would send me the tracks they would buy & i would remaster them to the best of my ability (and at the time i would winging it but i kept that to myself lmao).

Death Row was sold to a company called WideAwake, and around the same time i came into possession of a bunch of death row songs, i uploaded them on on my old youtube channel, these songs had leaked before but in varying quality.

Within a day i received an email a cease and desist, but i hadn’t opened my email in about a week, and a day after getting the cease and desist, they sent me a screenshot of my ip address threatening me. I laughed it off because i was young and someone involved with death row was threatening me like i was an adult.

Haven’t you ever been browsing the web and notice someone’s name and the really suspicious looking picture? Like you know nothing about them but because the image of them is so poor quality, grainy, at a weird angle, in a random or single colour background as well as sometimes in black and white that you feel like they got killed or something? I dunno, just that unique looking image.

You mean the last known photo look?

Where were you in '77?

Author

Not exactly. It’s not like an image of them in peril or something. Just an ordinary photoshoot of them, usually smiling. But it’s so poor quality, think ‘high school graduation photo’ look, it’s not ‘last known photo’, more like ‘only known photo available before they died’

What are y’all thoughts on Joe Biden? Is he better than Trump? Will he or will he or be a puppet? Will he be promising, disappointing, good or bad?

When’s something gonna happen?

He had an impressive first few days, he’s even out-progressived Justin Trudeau by suspending US arms sales to Saudi Arabia, and hopefully our government here in the UK will feel enough pressure to follow suit on things like that. This backtracking on the $2000 stimulus checks is disappointing, but I fully expected scenarios like this to happen, and fully expected that once Biden was in office there’d be a lot of campaigning, and twitter hashtagging, and online bullying the US President in order to achieve progressive change.

So far Biden’s been better than I expected honestly - with more executive orders than Clinton, Bush or Obama signed in their first fortnight, he did more good for America in one day than Trump did in four years. As a leftist, I’m just glad to have a president with whom the American left might have some chance of being listened to.

His decision about Keystone XL wasn’t very progressive though… It just means more oil being transported in environmentally destructive ways and from countries with no environmental standards.

I think some of his other policies are awful too, but for the sake of sparing this thread the fate of the politics thread, I’ll try to avoid stirring the pot too much.

I hadn’t actually heard about that, so thanks. I’ve just looked up about it. Biden and his administration will definitely need to be pressured to combat the climate crisis, and we need to get out of the hopeless mindset we’ve been in for the past years and set our expectations higher.
