Yeah, I’d be happier reading about this in the redux thread.

JEDIT: Misunderstood.
Jedit: 🤣
so I’m personally holding off rewatching any other work prints since Hals initial one to stop ROS fatigue just wondering is the actual final release aimed for this year or next, or when its done is also a valid answer
😁👍

I certainly hope for this year, yes. Just waiting on a few pieces, mostly the crackly saber.

Are we still waiting on the other missing things from the OP?
That’s the only thing left that’s a necessity. The others would be nice but wouldn’t be showstoppers if they never materialize.
^ I’m eagerly awaiting it, one of my favorite changes 😄
Maybe Popsketti can do Vader’s castle in backround behind Kylo for that one shot, I saw a great concept for it. Have we heard much from Jonh recently?

Not for a while, no.

Was there anything left for Jonh todo or did he finish all his stuff other than hair?

Qui-Gon, Bring balance to the force line, placement idea: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erp6ijEQkDs
thought this could be a nice place to put it, but might need to be more subtle.

I think Anakin’s line serves this purpose better. “Bring back the balance, Rey, as I did.”
Anyone know this?
In FCP7, if you use the blade to cut a clip, there will appear two red arrows to let you know that the clips are aligned despite the cut.
Does anything correspond to this in FCPX? When I make a cut, there doesn’t seem to be any visual distinction between any two clips I could just smash together.
I know I’m late to the party.
FCPX has a “position” tool (which replicates FCP7 functionality) and the standard “select” tool.
By default, the select tool moves clips around with a “snap” behavior to ensure there aren’t any gaps in content. A yellow bar appears when bringing two clips together.
The position tool, on the other hand, allows you to throw clips around without having other parts of your project move around. When you use the blade to slice a clip, two clips, a dotted line appears indicating a place for you to drop something in.

Not that it’s for Ascendant, but I talked to him and he’s planning on doing an alternate Force ghost scene at the end to include Anakin with Ben, Leia, and Luke when he’s finished with everything else 😄 I’m excited to see the entire Skywalker Force ghost family together

I will watch his career with great interest
Jonh also has the Sebastian Shaw version to finalize 😉
Save the Sebastian Shaw Ghost! Save the dream…!
Yeah, I’m certainly not counting him out! Just meant that I hadn’t heard from him recently. Any and all of the above mentioned ideas I would love to see and to consider using!
And again, I’d rather wait a bit longer for a good and proper V1 that can be final rather than doing a V1 and then a V2. Now that I will have things nicely tucked into FCPX, I could probably do another workprint once I get things situated computer-wise.
And thanks, ziggy, I will look at that again. It’d help me sleep at night being able to visually tell whether a clip aligns like that.
And Cinefy, I do plan to see about putting that extra Qui-Gon line in there, but when the ghosts are all chattering earlier.

Maybe get rid of one of the Jedi voices that don’t have a purpose being there (Aayla Secura, Luminara Unduli, etc.)

+1
(And I am a consumes all Disney canon/ consumed nearly all of the Legends EU geek) they… just don’t really do anything for me. I dig most of the major film Jedi and Kanan + Ahsoka voiceovers.
Although I would add a Temuera Morrison line to mesh with this one fan film where a Clone Trooper awakens to his Force powers. … 😄
And adding aome foley or something to smooth out Finn’s sudden appearance (my only issue in what I think is a superb edit so far) 😊😊😊😊
Not sure if Hal you care about this, but I certainly would like to remove all the “random” voices during that “Jedi chatter” scene and not specifically for canon reasons.
Fan edits do not need to follow cannon since … well, any change to a movie breaks the cannon anyway, but for the audience watching the movies and hearing a bunch of “random” voices that were not heard in the previous movies is jarring … to me at least thinking of the “average” movie watcher going from Episode 1 to 9.
(I agree with the others here about not having the other Jedi voices in that scene since … pre disneyified “canon” that only a couple of Jedi were able to do so via special training that was explicitly mentioned in Revenge of the Sith … but Disney already broke that logic/canon with Palps. Sith cannot live on prior to Disney… which is why Plagius was trying to find a way to reverse dying and live on but was cut short by Palps. Plus, George Lucus explicitly said Sith were not able to obtain it, just the Jedi via their absolute selflessness which made it ironic the Sith who wanted to live forever could never obtain it via the dark side … only the light side for the side who do not care about themselves. But we know what happened, RJ decided “Hey, Sith live on too! They just keep going to the next body” which then kills the whole narrative of Revenge of the Sith. That concludes my TED talk.)
