I think the Jedi in the trailer is most likely there to throw us off. Inside the universe its only really been 5 years since the downfall of the empire. I don’t think there are any Jedi besides Luke. I’m guessing she is an agent of Moff Gideon. Inquistor???

People also said that “It’s time for the Jedi to end” in TLJ and Palpatine’s laugh in TROS were there to throw us off, and look what happened there. 😉

Although I agree that she probably isn’t a “true” Jedi in the traditional sense, her outfit seems much too dark for that. Maybe she could be a surviving Inquisitor, or some type of Dark Jedi.

Also, the season 2 leakers suffered a big hit in credibility recently. Two weeks ago, they said that the trailer would feature a scene of Ahsoka fighting two bounty hunters, but that fight is nowhere to be found here. They also said that Sasha Banks would play Sabine, but she seems to be an original character here. Now I’m starting to doubt whether there really will be any animated characters returning in this season. It seems like we’re back to square one in terms of leaks, and that’s actually really exciting to me.

Tbh, I never really like the idea of Sabine, Ahsoka, ex coming into Mando… and this is from a huge TCW fan. Everyone loved Mandalorian because it was a breath of fresh air. It made the galaxy feel big again in a way we haven’t seen since the OT. Adding a ton of Clone Wars characters just because they can is honestly disappointing, I’d prefer for Mando and Child to meet new characters and have original adventures.

(Also Ahsoka should be dead by now I like her too but cmon Filoni is she gonna be alive past TROS now?)

Does she? She just seems like someone in a hood. That could be Sabine. But it could also be someone we’ve never met before.

But whether some “insider” or not got something right or wrong - Ahsoka is gonna be in this show. No way all that smoke around Rosario Dawson is going to be JUST smoke. Plus Temuera Morrison is definitely in the show. Everyone immediately assumed he was Boba Fett, but it seems a lot more likely to me he’s Rex - especially if Ahsoka is around.

There’s going to be Clone Wars/Rebels characters in this show. Which is fine. It’s all in how it’s executed. Filoni’s shows have consistently figured out how to take ideas that sound pretty bad on their face and make them work. Maul coming back shouldn’t have worked. Ahsoka living past order 66 shouldn’t have worked. The Bendu, etc.

I think if there’s a good way to have Rex, Ahsoka, and Sabine make the leap into live-action on this show, they’ll figure it out, and it’ll probably work just fine.

You must have the same sources I do. Kessel Run Transmissions now say that the new Ahsoka scene (shot only weeks ago) may not have been trailer footage, but it was definitely shot. I trust them on that one. It could be for some other form of marketing, or - although it’s very close to the season itself now, who knows - they may even be saving some reveals for a 2nd trailer, like there was with season 1?

I have a feeling the overall plot of this season will revolve around the search for Luke’s hidden jedi academy. The only possible place where the “sorcerer knights” could reside. I’d imagine Ashoka is searching for the same thing and so they team up, ending the season on Luke Skywalker’ amazing face 😉

I’m quite curious as to where they’re willing to take the series as bringing a de-aged or re-cast Luke is quite risky. Not to mention that if the Child joins Luke’s academy then canonically he would most likely be killed by Ben Solo. Unless they add some novel/comic workaround for it, but even if ts only implied I doubt they will risk that with such a popular and beloved character. Ahsoka would be less risky I think, and it makes sense as Filoni is involved, but of course then you have to introduce a “new” character as far as most viewers are concerned and it would also imply that Ahsoka chose not to associate herself with Luke, which raises many possibly interesting questions. They could of course return the Child to Yoda’s Species, but then they would of course have to go against Lucas’ wishes to never explore that species, and it could potentially be a bit of a cop-out. It will also be interesting to see how many seasons they’ll decided to stretch this idea as I doubt they’ll continue the series after Dyn has returned the Child to wherever that ends up being, even though the show is just called “The Mandalorian.”

Sounds like an excuse. They specifically said that the trailer had been postponed to accommodate that footage, but it didn’t end up appearing at all. They wouldn’t film a whole new scene specifically for use in a trailer and then end up not using it in that trailer. I think that Ahsoka probably will be in the show, and Temuera Morrison will be involved somehow, since those are the only things that were confirmed by multiple reliable sources. But that’s it as far as my speculation goes.

If Luke is appearing, I think it should probably be Sebastian Stan. Although you’d think there might be some report of his involvement if it was happening.

Or it could be Robert Boulter, the guy who was going to play Luke from ESB during a deleted flashback scene in TFA. They had already done a costume test of him as Luke before deciding to scrap the scene, and it looks pretty good:

Of course, they could also do what they did in TROS, and have Luke’s face be deepfaked over someone else. They actually used Mark Hamill in that movie, but that would probably draw too much attention for Mando.

But what am I speculating for, this probably isn’t happening in season 2. If it happens in Mando at all, it will probably be in the series finale.

The Mandalorian has won 5 Emmys for special visual effects, sound editing, sound mixing, production design and cinematography so far. More to come. This is the way.

Considering I’ve been listening to almost nothing but The Mandalorian theme for the past 3 days, I must agree

They tell us who the music composer is, but they don’t tell us who the stunt coordinator is? That’s kind of dumb. Stunt people should get more recognition in the industry.

Not to diminish Goransson’s score for Mando, of course, it’s great. I’ve listened to the main theme way too many times.

Happy days. And I totally agree, it’s the same with most awards ceremonies. Stunt doubles and co-ordinators are the unsung heroes of the industry. (In this case, well done to Lateef Crowder, Brendan Wayne, and Ryan Watson)

I know I’ve been spamming this thread recently - sorry folks - but in case anyone missed it, ILM just realised a 17-minute documentary about the model work of The Razor Crest. It’s great and I’m glad practical effects are making a comeback.
