I read a theory that Rey was the embodiment of Anakin’s “chosen one” force energy that was diffused out when he died.
Would’ve been more interesting, especially since it would explain why Kylo would be drawn to her.

I definitely prefer Rey’s parents being less noble. It makes her rise more meaningful, and more about her. Having her parents protect her since birth take away some of that mythic quality to me.
That extended shot is not necessarily going to be included; it depends on getting it sans watermark and being able to incorporate it with appropriate sound effects and timing the music right.
That being said, anyone is still welcome to submit audio. It will just probably need to be suppressed to the level of barely audible, as the majority of them already are out of necessity.
I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently.
Watching the Ben vs KOR,
I can’t help but feel the ‘it’s over, Ben’ line is totally off.
I think we missed a trick not having one (or all) screaming ‘Traitor!!!’
Mirroring Kylo himself (to Finn) at the end of TFA.
I agree with this. When I put the voice pack together for the KoR, I included a couple of “Traitor!” shouts for this very reason. Hal, if you’re needing a different take, let me know and I’ll yell into a mic for a bit.
For anyone who would like it, here’s the ending scene with no added music. (The video track is compressed, but the audio is not.)

Previously on /post/id/1371613 of this thread I found the end notes from the Star Wars Rebels epilogue can act as a bridge between the TFA cue and the TROS end credits to add more of the familiar jolt for those not quite satisfied with the current workprint audio. Using Hal’s shared “ending scene with no added music” and Final Cut Pro X, I added and synced the TROS end credits music with the clip, then I synced the end notes from Rebels, then I added the TFA cue. I don’t have the phenomenal TFA cue fade in from bbghost so I just did my own simple crossfade for this proof of concept. I’ve added the shared clip with my audio as well as a screenshot of what I did in FCPX to my google drive folder. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1dYFzUxQSHDRQq3m67gEhQJs8IRPJavl9?usp=sharing
Note: This isn’t meant to be used as final audio, this is only a concept/test. If someone with more audio editing wants to use my idea for their own edit/audio track go for it.
Absolutely nothing in the movie implies Palpatine’s son is a clone. I’d say the fact he doesn’t look like him should count as precluding it.
That’s a good find, but we’d probably need more audio to go with it for the ships flying by. Worth a shot, for sure! And we could include a few more people’s audio submissions. Anyone able to remove that watermark?
I gave a go at doing sound for the shot, only issue is the shot isn’t in the best quality ever but it should be serviceable. also I’m pretty new to sound stuff, i did it in mind that there would be more radio chatter on top of it

I dunno how to remove the watermark either lol.

I would trade a kidney to have that extended shot put back into the film. 😉

Sounds good to me, too! I can’t tell for the moment, but is it in surround? Could you perhaps export it with ONLY the added sound effects (no music)? If it’s only stereo, I may need separate tracks for some of the sounds to be able to pan as ships fly into frame from behind.

I don’t think it works to have that much added to the end, as I feel the transition from the final note of Rey’s theme into credits works just fine. However, I will play with adding a slight hint of it and see if that makes it better. Thanks for including the audio files you worked from!

Hello all long time lurker. I don’t have video editing software but how much would it alter the shot if you just cropped the video to remove the watermark. You will need to maintain the aspect ratio and scale appropriately but it will definitely work. Lastly, thank you to everyone on the thread that has contributed to this project I have been awed at the work done and thoroughly enjoyed watching this “Fan Edit” come together.

The question is … which kidney?
“Because you are a PalpaWalker?”

Fiddling with a slight hint of it might be a good idea, imho- the only two notes that actually feel like a good blend/transition, for me, were the very first two notes of what was layered in for the mock-up (right in the spot Carter put it). It creates a better harmonic resolution when we’re hit with the first notes of the credits fanfare.
I will still fight for this transition. In my opinion it just flows into the credits SO much better. And I love the end theme starting with the Skywalker theme, then Rey, then the Star Wars theme. Plus how it hits that long note how the Falcon flies away. I think it would be a shame not to have that 🤷♂️

I · II · III · IV · V · VI · VII · VIII · IX | Rogue One · Solo

I agree that this is a better musical transition, although I’m also ok with the way Hal has it right now.

It doesn’t work musically. Harmonically, that Rebels transition is I think a D-Major 7 chord with a leading A, being forced over the Rey theme which is an Ab-Major chord. This not only creates an extremely harsh dissonance between those two A and Ab semi-tones, but the root of each of these chords is a tri-tone apart which is usually avoided when creating tonal music. Musically speaking, it’s not a good fit.

Could you pm me the audio track for this please? I’d like to maybe use this.
I just merged the TFA credits and TROS credits music files. In a perfect world, it would include Hal’s lead in with the Skywalker theme, cut to Rey’s, and then finish out with the Star Wars theme. Basically just adding like 6 or 7 more seconds to the audio that Hal is using. But I don’t have that audio track to work off of.

Which track from which film has the Rey theme that you and Hal are using going into the credits?

It’s from “The Jedi Steps and Finale”, in the TFA soundtrack, at the very end of the credits:
My preferred Skywalker Saga experience:
I II III IV V VI VII VIII IX
For the trooper lines which are still in the air I think something simple would work, it shouldn’t try to be too witty or referential.
Just to throw something out:
I prefer music stay as it is in that final scene.
