Hal, have you considered having Luke speak to Ben during the Mustafar Opening or when he is repairing his mask? Maybe just a quick line like “Ben”, but something just to be consistent with Luke’s last words in TLJ of “see you around kid”.

Any thoughts?

For that sequence I think it would be better if it was arranged in order of the destroyers placement in the sky, so we would follow it as it falls to the ground.
Coruscant - Bespin - Naboo - Jakku.

Bespin being first fits with the soundtrack well, and to the guy who said Tatooine needs to be there we already get it later in the film so it seems absolutely pointless - Kajimmi deserves no place in this lol.

^ Bespin, Coruscant, Naboo, and Jakku is a decent selection

Anyone else think D-O would be better with just beeps?

Ever since I heard that it was JJ who did the voice, I could never un-hear him.

Sorry to divert the topic but I found another edit for the broadcast that allows the entire thing play without having to cut to other planets or montages:

Thats exactly what I showed from my edit just poorly put together lol.

If we’re to go with the leaked discussion angle, using the decoding scene would certainly be useful to sell the idea of listening into something instead of a Broadcast being blasted across the galaxy.

How I thought it would feel nearing the very end of the ‘9000 Saga’: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=248ggPoK158&t=12s

What it actually feels like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68jxhJYmo7o

So… you’re disappointed that work on this edit may never truly end?

No, just that it’s more melancholy than triumphant.

That’s how I also feel about Lucasfilm saying that The Rise of Skywalker is the final episodic film in the saga. Of course, I think many of us know that that won’t necessarily be the case forever.

If there was footage that didn’t look out of place, I feel like Lothal deserves a place in the victory montage. Then we’d have a planet from each trilogy and one from the EU

We’d floated the idea of Corellia, and that’d be my pick for an extra-saga planet. But I think it’s better to keep it in-story.

Unrelated: it might do for someone to simply keep Palpatine’s face in the dark (remove flashes of lightning) until the line “as all the Sith live in me” finishes. I may be able to myself without any FX needed, so I’ll give it a try if I am able to sit down (again, that’s kneel) at the computer later.

Would be nice to replace the music when Knights Of Ren arrive in this clip with something more memorable/interesting, theres currently just a generic random theme thats only in TROS that I wasn’t much of a fan of.

I really, really like that! I think it works incredibly well! I also think that Luke shouting “Ben!” when he turns his head on Mustafar would be a good idea, but this is fantastic!

I don’t think it works, but I would’ve liked Luke to haunt Ben more than he seems to have.

“Strike me down in anger and I’ll always be with you, just like your father.”

It’s clear to me he meant that Kylo would be haunted by his evil actions (for which the new vision scene works great) not that he would literally come back as a spooky ghost to haunt him, even if that was a thing in DotF.

Luke doesn’t even let him strike him down, it was just a warning that the path he was holding to would just bring him more pain.

I don’t think there needs to be explicit lines of dialogue spliced in to every scene to try and brute force a throughline from TLJ to TRoS. The work that’s been done with separating out and expanding Rey and Kylo’s respective force visions early in the film does a lot to establish and clarify where they’re at already.

So just a random question I had in mind that I probably already know the answer to. Many can conclude saying that The Rise of Skywalker is more of a continuation to The Force Awakens than it is The Last Jedi. Are we trying to make sure that this edit is a continuation of The Last Jedi? Personally, I feel that making it a sequel to Episode VIII is important.
