The Australian Thread

I’m feeling a little patriotic… So why not? 😄

After a quick search of the site, this thread doesn’t seem to have been created yet, bloody outrageous! I’ve been finding myself desperate for new things to do so I had hoped that in this new thread I could engage with any fellow Aussies or anyone curious to learn about the greatest country in the world as we battle through this virus!

So yes, it’s no secret that I’m Australia, born and raised. On one side of my family, my ancestry dates back to the British convicts of the First Fleet, the first European people to settle in the country. Because of this. I pay may respects to the Indigenous population or rather, first people of this land and their elders, past and present.

Post in this thread if you’re Australian, live in Australia, been there on holiday, know anybody from there, etc… Tell the rest of us about your experiences, thoughts, things you love, things you dislike, funny stories about tasting Vegemite! (I LOVE it!) OR you can also take this opportunity to ask any of us Aussies your burning questions! Post memes, videos, gifs, etc…

Rules!

  1. No politics. Enough said.
  2. Crazy conspiracy theories are OK, just keep it respectful.
  3. Keep it SFW.
  4. Keep banter at an appropriate level, racism will not be tolerated.
  5. No confusing us and New Zealand!

Magpies suck, spiders scare me, 90% of the country is too hot 90% of the time. I first saw kangaroos at a school camp when I was thirteen. The next time was at a caravan park where one got within five yards of me - a rather scary experience.

I oscillate between thinking that the stereotypes of Australia and the seemingly alien perception of the place by Americans and others is entirely bullshit and thinking that Australia really is an insane place. I suspect neither is really true/

Holy shit! Not until you were 13! I had a close call with a bunch of them when I was 5… I got separated from my parents while we were visiting Queensland and I had to hide behind an outdoor vending machine! True story. 😄

It is an insane place. But regardless, a lot safer than most other places.

That’d suck. I grew up near Melbourne and My family would only ever go leave Victoria to go to the gold coast for holidays. So I never really was in proximity to proper Aussie wildlife.

Hey, I live in Melbourne! Always have, my family only went to the Gold Coast that one time. Other than that, I’ve hardly ever left Victoria. Also, I have actually never been overseas! 😄

I am a little disappointed that Chase hasn’t posted upside down in this thread, like a true Aussie would have! 😉

The FE Renegades thread; from the people who post ‘go kill yourself’, ‘fuck you’, ‘let’s throw abuse’, and more at OT staff & members. Four years on and still throwing accusations, slurs and abuse at the OT & anyone outside their Salacious Crumb filled clique. + FE Discord “to vent” more at the OT. Wook’s take.
