LOL, my bad, that was an accidental press when I was trying to stop my phone scrolling.

Come to think of it, I don’t think I’ve ever done a Markdown Post like that before…first time for everything I guess

Anyone have any ideas for dialogue for the troopers speaking with 3PO? The 3PO line is currently “Excuse me, sir, might you direct us to—-“

Need two brief lines, neither in direct 3PO’s unfinished question.

Maybe omething from Fallen Order could work?

(Exasperated) “I’m never gonna get promoted…”
(Annoyed) “What, you want a medal?”
(Exasperated) “I knew I should’ve joined the Brood…”
(Impatient) “Go talk to the quartermaster droid!”
(Angry) “Stop it! It’s getting on my nerves!”

I think my favorite was “Is the Falcon yours now?”

I’ve seen a lot of people talk about how Rey has claimed the Falcon for herself, but I think we just assume that because she’s a human and the main character. In the actual movies, Chewie is the only character who is on the Falcon every time it flies in the Sequels, and he’s always one of the pilots too (Rey took a gunner seat in TLJ). I’m pretty sure the Falcon belongs to Chewie, and he’s just taken in Rey as his co-pilot since that’s what Han wanted. Rey does call it “Han’s ship” in TROS and not “Chewie’s ship,” but she clearly had a lot of reverence for Han (I wouldn’t be surprised if Chewie called it that too), and at the least that’s proof that she doesn’t think of it as hers.

I don’t know how much relevance this has, but the Smuggler’s Run ride at Galaxy’s Edge has you flying the Falcon on a mission from Hando, who said he was borrowing it from Chewie, not Rey. If you take that into context I would assume that Chewie has ownership.

Hahaha, true point … but Disney canon doesn’t even follow itself.

I mean, generally speaking, it tries to, save for accidental mistakes and the occasional belligerent creator (Abrams, Wendig).

Going back to the Achto scene, I thought Luke’s entrance needed a tad more gravitas.

A while ago I added a shot of Luke standing dramatically from the doco, all that’s missing is the Force ghost affect which shouldn’t be too hard to accomplish.

I thought Hal might be interested…?

But it isn’t an idea that Hal has considered at all, and it requires some serious VFX work to be feasible. I guess I’m just tired of people using this thread as a general ideas thread, while ignoring the ideas thread that already exists.

I don’t mind posting ideas here! Especially if this project is idir’s TROS ‘home base’ for now.

I don’t think I would want to go that route, though. Luke appears as he walks out of the ship, and a static shot of him waiting to do so seems to undermine what that shot is trying to do.

I would have liked MORE Luke in the movie, though!

In other news, I have a crawl from Sir Ridley now. I think whenever snooker is happy with the Naboo shot, another workprint will be in order.

I know everyone is satisfied with Palpatine clones being in the tank, and I very much like the addition, But I feel like the film is missing some sort of verbal confirmation/mention of how he came back. May not be away of doing that, but I think Palpatine’s return needs a couple more extra sprinkles.

[Has anyone attempted to place a vision when Kylo is on Mustafar, something with the wayfinder]

I’ve been throwing my audio edit of Ian saying ‘More than a clone, less than a man’ at y’all for weeks, lol.

This is a thought, this is all it is, just a thought - what if we put ourselves in the shoes of someone that has never seen the movie and watches this cut, they have never seen any press about Palpatine’s return, but the first they see of it is on Exegol when Kylo meets him…what if, we keep the suspense going a bit longer, so, you have no mention of Palpatine in the crawl as planned, you then see Kylo go to Mustafar, get this pyramid thing that has sith noises coming from it, then we cut to Chewie, Finn and Poe getting the message, back to the Falcon landing back, Rey asking what’s the message? Then you hear what sounds like Palpatine’s message, interspliced with Kylo landing on Exegol, dubbed with the message, then you cut to the discussion and after Poe says, somehow Palpatine has returned, you cut again to Kylo on the lift, cut back to the rest of the resistance discussion, ending with Leia’s line and then cuts to Kylo hearing the voices and meeting Palpatine… it’s just a thought like I said. Would it work without disrupting the audio and music? Just think the simultaneous revelation on Palpatine to light and dark might have more impact…

That’s an interesting thought, might be worth experimenting with…

I don’t think so for this project, but I sincerely agree its an interesting idea I wouldn’t mind see explored!

And, if the source material were there for the “more than a clone” line I’d be all for it. But the off the cuff microphone>speaker>phone recording we have to work with just isn’t there. 😕
I do think that TROS:A as it is presents at least a better version of Palpatine returning, with a bit less muddy water. It’s more clearly implied he’s a clone than in the original.

Krausfadr’s edit is placing the Palpatine reveal much later in the movie:

Thanks for the recommendation, but overall, this is the edit that I’m going to love. I suppose we can all have a bit of an obsession about trying to change things and experiment with ideas. That’s part of being a Star Wars fan, I guess. It was an even better if thought and I can certainly live without that change. It may not even work anyway - unless someone wants to give it try. Wink wink 😊

Has there been a final consensus on the idea of implying C-3P0’s prequel memories were restored? As we know, the novelisation strongly implies that this is canon (with 3P0 suddenly remembering his first interaction with R2 in TPM the moment his memory is restored).

If this could be conveyed convincingly I reckon it would serve as a really nice (& canon) on-screen goodbye/resolution for the droids. Plus, it would at least add some sort of actual end result and “weight” to the otherwise completely inconsequential memory wipe storyline…

Of course, if Hal ultimately decided against it for this edit then that’s totally cool too! Haven’t seen any word on it here for a little while though, so I thought I would chime in again.

Personally I’d rather C3PO’s memories not be restored at all. Someone posted a mock-up a ways back and it definitely needed some work but showed promise.

A delayed emperor reveal seems to be the original plot line. Your thoughts on how to do it are quite valid and would work. Though the way I handled it is once Palpatine threatens to use his fleet against Kylo he’s like eff off old man— so he retrieves the Wayfinder and heads off to confront Palpatine. If Hal wants to go for a more radical Rey Nobody edit your ideas could work while still keeping the Mustafar intro.

heil Palpatine!

Imo, it’s more unbelievable that they WOULDN’T have backups of 3PO’s memories. He’s a droid. I’m sure everyone here maintains up-to-date backups of their computers and/or phones, so why would droids in Star Wars be treated any differently?

You assume too much

After being beaten and battered by prequel hate, I promise not to be that to the next generation.
