Seeing this more and more

I actually saw somebody I follow link jonh’s clip in my twitter feed earlier this morning.

Really cool to see!! I don’t recall seeing Adywan’s stuff as often even

Adywan was polishing an already polished trilogy. Jonh was helping a turd fest … to be honest.

“Because you are a PalpaWalker?”

VNC to the rescue. Here’s what I have at present.

Thanks Hal! I was going to say no rush, since I have a busy day as well tomorrow. Definitely didn’t expect you to remote into your computer, but again, thank you!

And thanks jarbear! Glad it’s feeling good!

Another note too, would it be worth it trying to extend Anch-To by including an establshing shot of Luke’s hut before Rey is gifted Leia’s lightsaber?

The Skywalker Saga:

This is the way.

I think its more fresh in the cultural zeitgeist too honestly. Not to take away from Adywan or any one working on the prequels (like me), i just think the newest trilogy is the most relevant for people now. Plus, yea, it proved to be a mess even compared to the prequel responses when they came out. Prequels at least wrapped up decent with ROTS. Sequels started strong-ish, but didn’t stick the landing to well.

Why did Hux’s “I’m the spy.” line get removed in WP V3? Poe and Finn’s reactions feel kinda jarring without the line.

The next new stormtrooper voice line sounds like it was obviously added in. I think the audio there could maybe use a little reworking or maybe a better filter.

Agree with both of these.

It might need some added color correction/grain to fit in better, but I think I’m ready to send this clip in!

in my opinion, I think it’d look better if it was blended into the atmosphere, kinda a lighter blue

Yeah just lower the opacity on that layer.

Yeah, me too. Axlanian, do you think you could make a regular voice recording sound like a FO trooper?

My stance on revising fan edits.

Are we sure there aren’t any better lines we can give the trooper? Don’t get me wrong, they’re funny, but perhaps that isn’t the direction we should be going in.

Agree with this, too.

I think the trooper trying to get 3P0 to stop rambling is still a good joke conceptually, but this current “Just kill me” doesn’t seem any more tonally appropriate of a joke than the theatrical version of the joke did. Very on the nose, and reminds me of the “SNL humor” that was deleted from Hal’s edit of TLJ.

Maybe something a bit more serious from the trooper, with the scene as a whole still working as a joke due to 3P0. After the “Stop talking,” which I do think could stay, maybe the second line is something like “Somebody take him to reconditioning/reprogramming.” Still works as comedic if done in a more annoyed/exasperated voice rather than a threatening one, like the trooper is just trying to get on with his shift.

And while we’re at it, I’m not a big fan of “And I will be your protocol droid!” when they’re flying toward the cruiser. This line seems out of place to me in the context. Why would C-3P0 assume he’s going to be Chewie’s once they find him? Maybe it wouldn’t be a dealbreaker for a first time viewer, though.

Haha, sorry about that. Like I said, it’s not a dealbreaker (no one else has even commented on it). It just stuck out to me when I heard it.

Here’s a quick try (sound is not great) for an idea I posted a few days ago : removing Rey in the X-wing shot at the end of Exegol. The video is quite long for such a small change, it’s just to see how it flows. IMO it’s more consistent regarding Rey’s feelings at that moment. So what do you think ?

this thread may be the better place to post that.

I could, but I think the concern here is more the dialogue and delivery than the effect. “Stop talking” could work, but “Kill me now” is a bit too parody-like, as others pointed out. The lines feel like Red vs. Blue. I’d be more than happy to mock up some alternate dialogue options if you’d like.

The discussion of Batuu reminds me of how very surprised I was that they DIDN’T crowbar in a reference to Batuu- in particular, I was expecting an off-handed reference to having gotten help repairing the Skywalker lightsaber at Savi’s. There’s a couple of random references to Batuu in Solo, which was interesting.

Though, given that we know there were originally plans for an ongoing plot about Rey building her own saber across the movie and that, at the very least, earlier drafts of the script (and the visual dictionary) tied Rey learning to heal with her healing the Skywalker Kyber crystal, I understand why they didn’t, in this case.

I like the “Kill me now” line but I’ve noticed that I like a lot more humor in my Star Wars than most people here seem to.

I think part of it is just that a stormtrooper is saying the line, and not one of our heroes. The original Star Wars had humor, but usually through the heroes, droids, or aliens, and not too much at the expense of the Imperials. The Prequels started a trend of Star Wars villains and henchmen being comic relief (obviously the Trade Federation droids and leaders, but even Palpatine’s final battle against Yoda is just plain comedic), and I think carrying that into the Sequel trilogy where we’re back to stormtroopers and Imperial aesthetic has put some people off.

Since Hal removed most of the villain comedy from his Prequel edits, as well as some of the gags in TLJ, I’m just wondering if this line is tonally appropriate for what he’s going for here. Like axlanian said, it almost feels like something out of Red vs Blue.

Are there any other shots from the trailers and documentary that you’d like to add in, Hal?

That one piece of cut Lando dialogue feels very wasted.

This might be it, I’m not quite sure yet. I’ll come up with a few dialogue options and send them to Hal.

I come here to mostly lurk and read what’s going on with edits and request links to ones that interest me and I gotta say, you guys really do amazing work. I’d love to see the most current version of this, but at the same time, I really just want to wait until it’s complete and bask in it’s glory.

BTW, there is an article on Yahoo about the scene where the Force Ghosts have been added. 😃 I’ve watched it a number of times now, and aside from the cheesy “all the Sith” and “all the Jedi” lines still being there (I understand it would probably be too difficult to edit them out), it really is quite the sight to behold and just reinforces my unhappiness with the DT.

Again well done to you all and please keep up the incredible work!

[edit] Here’s a link to the Yahoo piece, it’s actually a cross post from Total Film Magazine.
