I don’t think 5 news outlets confirming it and an implied confirmation from the actress herself counts as “100% false”.

and nothing from Lucasfilm has actually confirmed the Boba Fett and Bo-Katan stuff.

Yeah, that stuff is kind of shakier. But Lucasfilm is notoriously secretive, and Boba Fett and Bo Katan would just make sense given that the show is called “The Mandalorian”. I’m expecting the second season to dive a lot more into Mandalorian history and culture, and feature a backdoor pilot episode for the Rebels sequel.

Those news outlets are clickbait. The actress came out with an interview and didn’t even know how to say Ahsoka’s name correctly.

Then she said:

“Someone did the art and I reposted it. Then star wars started following me. And then everybody started thinking it was a whole thing. And its literally been this internet situation. So internet, if it happens, its because of you.”

Ahsoka won’t be in this next season. That interview was posted in March of 2020 and they already shot season 2 by then.

That was Ashley Eckstein, Ashoka’s voice actress. She isn’t involved with season 2 at all, Ahsoka is being portrayed by Rosario Dawson. In another interview, Dawson said that “I’ll be very excited when it’s confirmed,” implying that she plays Ahsoka in the show, she just can’t announce it yet. Ahsoka is in the show, she just isn’t being played by the person who normally plays her.

No, I wasn’t talking about Eckstein. I AM talking about Rosario Dawson. Why would Ashley Eckstein pronounce a characters name incorrectly after playing her for 12 years? Dawson reposted an image online and people/news outlets started freaking out, that’s literally all we know. Nothing has been remotely confirmed by her or lucasfilm. In the interview I’m talking about titled “Star Wars: Rosario Dawson on Wanting to Play Ahsoka Tano”, she says ASHOKA instead of Ahsoka. Anyways I’ll guess we’re just gonna have to wait and see. 😃

I’m pretty sure you don’t know the whole story. It started out with 5 news outlets independently reporting that Rosario Dawson was going to play Ahsoka in the Mandalorian. That resulted in fans making art of Dawson as Ahsoka. Dawson reposted one of the images, and people just took that as further confirmation. The interview where she obviously talks around confirming that the rumors are true should really put aside all doubts.

Also, I’m not sure a typo in a transcript of an interview proves that she mispronounced it in the interview itself, so I wouldn’t take that either way.

Watch the video for yourself. She literally says ASHOKA out loud. If she’d been part of the production I find it hard to believe that she doesn’t know how to say her own character’s name correctly. I was wrong about the interview date though, its actually from October 2019.

But notice how in the interview she’s pushing for the fans to make this role happen. She’s not saying that she has the role. Listen to exactly what she says. “Internet, IF it happens, its because of you.” I don’t see how any of this is confirmation.

But if I’m wrong, great.

Lucasfilm has confirmed nor denied any of this so lets just stop. I’d rather have a more productive discussion about something else.

Have you guys seen the Mandalorian Gallery stuff?

Which kind of invalidates your whole point. They hadn’t even begun filming by that point, all the rumors came from this year. There was also a later interview where she clearly tried to sidestep the issue by saying “when it’s confirmed I’ll be very happy,” which is basically just an implied confirmation.

I agree that we should be talking about something more productive though.

I loved the cast surprises in the first season.

Horatio Sanz - Mythrol (blue alien bounty)
Brian Posehn - speeder pilot
Amy Sedaris - docking bay mechanic
Ming-Na Wen - Fennec Shand
Bill Burr - Mayfeld
Clancy Brown - Burg
Richard Ayoade - voice of Zero
Matt Lanter - prison guard
Jason Sudeikis - biker scout
Dave Filoni - X-wing pilot
Rick Famuyiwa - X-wing pilot
Deborah Chow - X-wing pilot
Jon Favreau - Paz Vizla

As for season 2, Katee Sackhoff would obviously be portraying Bo-Katan Kryze, and Rosario Dawson would most likely be Ahsoka Tano. Everyone seems to think Temuera Morrison will be Boba Fett, but I think he’s going to be Rex, but I’m up for anything.

It will be very interesting to see Michael Biehn and Timothy Olyphant in Star Wars too. I wonder if any more directors or voice actors will make cameos?

I remember watching an interview with Filoni and a few cast members from the animated series talking about Filoni’s “circle of trust” where he keeps track of exactly who he’s told certain plot points to so if a spoiler gets out, he has an idea of who leaked it. I think he even circulated a few incorrect rumors just to test people. Anyone else remember anything like this?

I imagine keeping secrets with a much larger live-action crew is near impossible, but I bet he’s still not happy with all the current leaks.

I think S1 of the Mandalorian was very leaky as well, wasn’t it?

Ultimately it ended up really not mattering at all. IIRC even the fact there were “yodas” in the show didn’t really have that much of an impact. The Mandalorian’s success has made it pretty clear that whatever market there is for spoilers is so small as to be almost inconsequential.

Plus, keep in mind: This isn’t really Filoni’s show, it’s Favreau’s. Not to say Filoni isn’t annoyed that sites like Slashfilm are reporting on things before they appear in the show proper. But it’s probably just that - an annoyance at best. I don’t think these leaks are going to hurt the show itself in October. There’s enough time between now and then that most of this stuff will probably be forgotten in the meantime 😃

Temuera Morrison has (supposedly) been cast as Boba Fett in S2. Which means they want that 2004 ESB dub of Boba Fett to pervade into other media.

Why is that the assumption? He’s just being cast because canonically, that’s what he looks like. It’s not part of some nefarious plot to make people watch the Special Editions. I feel like your constant anti-Disney crusade makes you assume the worst sometimes.

There’s also the possibility that he’ll be playing Captain Rex, which would make sense if Ahsoka and Bo-Katan will show up.

Side note; there’s this somewhat odd rumour as well; https://www.starwarsnewsnet.com/2020/05/timothy-olyphant-mandalorian.html

Yeah, I heard that rumor too. Cobb Vanth isn’t a very well-established character in the Star Wars universe, but I think they’ll be able to make him interesting in this show.

With several characters that are at least somewhat connected to the Mandalorians rumored to be in the show, I think season 2 is going to dive a lot deeper into Mandalorian history and culture. I’m personally looking forward to it.

???

I don’t think referencing the primary subject of this board is a “crusade”. Or how anything else I say on here is anti-Disney to be honest. Chill out.

But almost everything you say about Disney is negative. Even when it isn’t a bad thing at all, like Temuera Morrison playing Boba Fett. You said that it proves Disney is trying to force the SE’s down our throats, when they just cast him because that’s how Boba canonically looks like. That’s what I meant by “assuming the worst”.

Also, we don’t know if he’s actually playing Boba. So far as I can tell, that’s just an assumption literally everyone made but nobody’s got confirmed. The other assumption is that he could also be playing Captain Rex but it seems like nobody’s even really trying to guess at option C, which is that he’s only playing Rex, and Boba won’t be in the show at all.

Either way, the idea that Disney is making any decisions based on a weird sense of antagonism doesn’t make any sense.

I haven’t watched his rebels episodes yet, but shouldn’t Rex be like super old and dead by the time of the Mandalorian? I mean, he was a clone who ages faster, right? And his timeline of clone wars-rebels-post ROTJ would span, according to official cannon… …wait. Less than 40 years?! What the crap? The events of TPM, the clone wars, the fall of the republic, the empire, the rebellion and all happened in a span of just 36 years?! That’s ridiculous!

Well, I guess if you compare it to the historical timeline and of the lead up to WW1 on through to WW2 and the aftermath, it’s not that preposterous, but it still seems a bit far fetched. Whatever, its all pretend anyway.

I think the Boba assumption comes from what most people think was a Boba tease last season.

Either way, the idea that Disney is making any decisions based on a weird sense of antagonism doesn’t make any sense.

Some fans think Disney HATES the prequels, others think they HATE the OT.

There’s a rumor that in a yet unnanounced animated Rebel sequel series, Ahsoka and gang will find a way to slow down or even reverse Rex’s accelerated aging.

Still something does seem like the timeline from the beginning of TPM to the end of ROTJ is a bit compressed.

It’s almost like the Clone Wars should’ve taken place earlier/lasted longer. Hmmm. . . .

I love this video simply & effectively explaining how The Mandalorian series used new ‘virtual set’ technology to film the show:-

Why ‘The Mandalorian’ Uses Virtual Sets Over Green Screen’:-

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ufp8weYYDE8 - at the Movies Insider youtube channel. (7 minutes)

The blurb:-

“For decades, film and TV productions have used green and blue screens to place actors into new environments. Now, LED walls are revolutionizing this process by projecting 3D environments in real time behind actors to provide the illusion of being in a physical location. These methods were put to the test on Disney’s “The Mandalorian,” of which over half was filmed indoors on a virtual set. This process of combining traditional cinematography techniques with advanced world-building technology effectively eliminates the need for a green screen.”

I enjoyed the show quite a bit. It’s got the problem of many shows where the first and last two parts are all the best stuff, but overall nicely done. One part that left me puzzled was how the AT-ST was seen as any threat. Doesn’t the Razor Crest have guns? Can’t they hi-jack it stealthily? Can’t they get a couple of logs roped up?

If someone can explain tracking in this universe that would also be nice. Not exactly sure what’s going on, since it makes the ever present threat seem weirdly contrived. Also takes away from the actual bounty hunting since it’s more like bounty geocaching?

I got the impression that it has a limited range, so they still need to find out what planet the bounty is on before they can start relying on the fob to track them down.

Overall, though, its really just a plot device that used in several different ways. Plus, I’m personally among those who don’t really give a damn about realism in SW (that always seems to miss the point of space-fantasy to me), so I’m not really bothered by it. The fobs are a bit like the Republic beacon in the prison break episode. It adds tension and suspense to the episode, but gets kinda weird if you actual start to really think about it.
