Who the heck ARE the Sith in RoS?

In TPM it seems safe to assume their were two Sith, and they were so undercover the Jedi thought they were extinct.

In RoS we have a giant SafeCo Stadium filled with Sith, a Sith fleet, a Sith language the Republic banned, and secret Sith followers like the bounty hunter who caught Rey’s folks.

Where did these people come from? Was this galaxy spanning religious organization (including secret Sith hood ornaments) spring up in the 40 years between RotS and TFA?

And what do they beleive in? When you ARE A SITH LORD it’s about a struggle for personal power. What does Hooded Sith Enthusiast #35961 in the giant crowd think of all this? Is he happy living in dirt, wearing a hood all the time, waiting for Palpy to make his move?

A SITH LORD??

I dunno, it always felt like such an underdeveloped concept. Something best left to deleted scenes and novelizations. Back in the day more sensible people ignored the whole thing and just used the term Dark Jedi instead. Now in ROS apparently Palpatine is “all the Sith” and has enslaved a whole planet of people to build monuments and ships I guess.

Even in a single country you can find quite a few people to follow a kook with delusions of grandeur. In a galaxy you can probably wrangle a whole planet of these people. I feel like that’s most of the Sith cult in ROS, just gullible idiots who build a fleet of ships from outdated blueprints altered to introduce a fatal flaw in their design and without the ability to fly up.

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

Maybe the crowd was just more of these guys?

Or else I think it’s just his personal army of Torgos. ;P

Who exactly are those guys? Anyone know?

Don’t worry, they’ll all be retconned into being even more clones of Palpatine soon.

IIRC, they were supposed to be his advisors, so pretty much like all the flunkies he kept around in the prequels only less alien.
I don’t think I’ve ever spotted the conehead one in the movie.

What was Kenner thinking making one of these guys an action figure when we never even got a Wedge?

Poor chap never even got a proper name at the time.

Perfumed, arse-licking toadies. The Emperor kept them around as advisors, I think. If you’ve read the RETURN OF THE JEDI novelisation, you’ll know Lord Vader had a very low opinion of them.

I remember seeing this ‘peg warmer’ in 1985, along with some other collector coin figures. I thought it was an ugly woman at the time. Bizarre choice for an action figure.

I actually did read the novelization, but it was a long while ago and I barely remember it.

Time to revisit it then. It’s a well-written novel with plenty of interesting passages (expanded scenes and dialogue).

I might do that. I’ve been reading a bunch of Star Wars novels for the first time since 1998.

^ Wow , I never noticed just how much those guys look like something drawn by Jean Geraud Moebius ! He had an influence on the look of the probe droid , so I wonder if they used him for inspiration here as well ? I would be willing to bet that they did .

Does the flunky centre-rear (left) look a bit McDiarmidish to you? Maybe he was asked to join the group photo or wanted a memento of working with the other guys.
