I ran with RogueLeader’s idea to produce the following test-run of the final TROS scene. The last shot is Rey’s ignition of her lightsaber.
The password is gothamknighttros.
The pacing and sound are fantastic, could do away with that landing shot though.
Also very clever restructuring of the scene, I think that if we wanted to stick to tradition with the sunset ending, Rey’s ignited saber could be inserted into the scene , come to think of it, It would be a meaningfull call back to the broom boy scene from TLJ.

A green look for Exegol would be easier to achieve since there’s at least some green in those backgrounds.

I think that it would be easier to extend the Emperor’s music across the entire scene rather than try to scrub the music from his speech.

I’m still thinking about my ‘Sith Fleet as the MacGuffin’ idea, so I came up with a crawl:
The iron grip of the FIRST ORDER has spread to the farthest reaches of the galaxy. Whispers of a long abandoned IMPERIAL FLEET circulate the core worlds.
GENERAL LEIA ORGANA dispatches secret agents to gather intelligence while SUPREME LEADER KYLO REN, determined to crush the RESISTANCE, searches the galaxy for this rumored fleet.
Meanwhile REY, the last hope of the Jedi, researches ancient Jedi texts hoping to find clues to defeat her dreaded rival…
I feel like it’s missing something, and I feel like the last sentence can be improved. Keep in mind, with this version, the opening would pan down to the Resistance base where Rey is levitating.

If you start the film with Rey, you could create an interesting chaismus within the opening crawl.
The legend of the Jedi has ignited a spark of rebellion.
The First Order’s fleet dwindles as they struggle to fight this rebellion.
Kylo Ren searches for a new fleet that can destroy the growing rebellion.
Rey prepares to protect the rebellion and continue the Jedi legend.
Maybe something like this:
Hope lives! Ignited by the legendary last stand of Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, the fires of rebellion burn across the galaxy.
SUPREME LEADER KYLO REN, desperate to suffocate the growing Resistance, chases rumors of a long abandoned IMPERIAL FLEET that could bolster the armada of the First Order.
Sensing her rival’s dark ambitions, Rey hastens to complete her training, unsure if she will be ready to face her enemy and live up to the legacy of the Jedi…

This is great! It pays off TLJ and sets everything up for TROS. Also “Hope lives!” is a fun nod to the original crawl.

I edited the healing and kiss scene so that Leia gives Ben her life force to heal Rey, meaning that Ben lives. I added the voices of Leia, Luke, Han and Anakin so that the scene would still have an emotional impact.

I agree that the only real ‘meat’ of TROS which also concludes a key part of the story is Rey vs Kylo around the old Death Star wreckage, and Kylo’s Han dream.
Hmm . . . I wonder if the huge Star Destroyer fleet could be portrayed as part of the First Order, and the battle against it interspersed with the Kylo-Rey duel on the D.S. wreckage?
If so, the climax of the saga could be Ben’s return to the light. No mention of Palpatine.

What do you guys think of adding more people to the ending shot, R2 and 3PO as well as the force ghosts looking at the sunset(rise) with Rey.

I enjoyed this - your idea conveys well that the other Jedi are helping Ben. I’d be tempted to cut Han though, and focus more on Leia, as Han is a) not a force ghost and b) already prominently featured in Ben’s return to the light.

Also, another problem I just realized with the finale is that the pacing in the current cut makes it look like Finn and Jannah were just standing there for 10 minutes: they line up the turret, then Rey and Ben team up, then Palpatine heals himself, then Wexley dies, then Lando shows up, then Palpatine electrocutes the resistance fleet, then Rey hears the voices of Jedi past, then Palpatine dies, THEN Finn actually shoots the command deck. Ideas as to how we can re-order some of this?

I’m planning on using After Effects to rotoscope the characters. It will take time and effort, but I hope it will be worth it.
