Williarob will be using Dre’s new correction for an update that will also replace many of the patched-in Blu-Ray frames with new 4K print scans (some from an LPP print, some from a 1997 SE print).

Will there be any frames used from the 4K Disney+ version or have they got all the frames from prints now?

In some instances, the bluray frames could not be color matched to the print. If there are no print sources for a frame and the D+ frames match better, then they will be used. But the goal is to minimize the amount of footage from non 35mm sources used in the 4Kxx projects.

Oohteedee already partially “despecialized” the D+ versions of ANH and ESB using 4K77 and 4K80 sources. (Most of the 4K80 footage he cleaned himself, since that’s not done yet) if that’s what you’re looking for. He calls them “D+77” and “D+80”. Hopefully a D+83 will follow in the not too distant future, and all three D+ projects will quickly be upgraded to use the physical media when that becomes available next month.

Interesting. Didn’t even know about the ‘partially despecialized’ D+ versions.

I only mentioned the streaming 4K versions because, to me at least, that would be the next best source to use if for whatever reason you can’t find the necessary frames from a 35mm source, which would of course be preferable. Not to mention the CC on the Disney+ versions is leagues better than the 2004/2011 versions, so it should be less of a problem to color match to the 35mm material.

Good to know. But I have 1.4 now (thank you!) and just at first glance it’s way better than 1.0.

I downloaded v1.4 too and it is much better than v1.0, same goes for 4K83, v1.3 is better than v1.0

The 1080p version is available ready to burn, with menus etc. Not much point creating an ISO for the 4K version, as most people can’t burn it, and those who can probably won’t be able to play it anyway.

If you reduce the bitrate far enough to fit it on a BD50, it may or may not play on your UHD player (most won’t). blank BD 100 M discs are not cheap, and many will not work on your stand alone UHD player.

Most UHD players have a USB input, and can play MKV files, so why not just put that file on an external drive or USB stick and plug that in? Why bother with burning a disc at all? Is it really worth all that extra effort just to see a menu and click play? The end result is exactly the same: you watch the movie on your TV.

If all you want is a case on the shelf, then print one out and stuff an SD card or USB stick inside it.

First of all - The work you all have done and time spent on this is mind blowing. Not sure if a high-five or “awesome job” offers the proper amount of affirmation. On the UHD - burning/playing; strictly for the purpose of assembling a DEED collection I purchased a Blu-ray burner and made it capable for user friendly UHD burning and playing in standalone UHD players. Man, I even bought a Canon Pixma printer to print on the discs.(been obsessed lately). Anyway, I’ve created discs of Harmy’s and the 4Kxx 1080p versions. I’ve paused on the UHD versions due to confusing information out there on burning and playing the UHD made at home discs. I have XL Blu-rays ready to use. Can you expand on what you were mentioning about the burning and play-ability of UHD discs? I created ISO’s of the 4K versions using tsMuxer. What hiccups or speed bumps/roadblocks could I run into either burning the 4K iso’s of 77/83 and playing them via a player?

I can only find 4K77 1.4 (no DNR) as 1080p. Am I missing much not having 2160? Is the downscaling to 1080p creating video noise? It looks great.

No 1080p looks great. Unless you have a 2160p TV or Monitor you won’t see much discernible difference.

I actually do have a 4K setup.

Wait, is it officially released? We got the go-ahead to share the no-DNR versions out in the wild? I know it was decided that RC2 for the 1080p and RC1.1 for the UHD were probably going to be final, but I wasn’t clear that it was okay to actually distribute them yet.

Both versions are on Myspleen.

am i the only guy who turns to the bottle when they think about myspleen? (mainly about how they will never get in T_T)

guess its time to figure out this usenet shit

Same situation I’d also like to know if anyone as actually burned and played a 4K BD100.

I think the general consensus is that there aren’t any consumer-priced tools available yet to author a compliant UHD disc, but I haven’t seen much chatter about it at all, one way or the other, in a long time.

He folks, wondering if someone can help me out. I can only find version 1 on usenet. Id really love to get the latest version but o havent been able to workout how to get this.

Keep up the great work and many thanks for all the hard work you’ve kindly done to keep the OT available

If you’re talking about the DNR version, there hasn’t been an update. Only the no-DNR version has an update at the moment (which would be v1.4).

Dunno about Usenet though, someone else will have to chime in about that.

The problem with usenet is just that people just don’t upload to it with any regularity/reliability. It all gets trapped inside THE SPLEEN and that’s where it slowly digests for over 1000 years.

The sharing system at The Star Wars Trilogy dot com is a lot friendlier/easier, but I think new registrations are capped because their site hosting is on some sort of shared CPU thing (??) and the site has grown quite a bit in the past few years due to the amount of work (and the very high quality of it) so it’s causing the CPU to overheat/overload and it brings the site down. At least that’s what it seemed like had happened last time.

Most fan-producers of restorations don’t seem to have a problem with their projects being upped to other torrent trackers once it’s stashed safely on THE SPLEEN, and often all you need to do is find out the torrent file name of the version you’re searching for and plug that into google, and more often than not you’ll find a public tracker that’s got it available.

There is also guidance in the fanedit org forum and how to acquire them via resilio.

Where can one find 4k77 and the others ?

Mod edit: Let’s try to be a little more helpful.

that wasn’t in any way helpful, but at least you weren’t a jerk about it.

I was helpful. You, like all the other beggars, just want a direct link. You can search duckduckgo.com and find all the movies within a few posts, factually. I have no idea why the mod thought I wasn’t being helpful. Should I just straight up post the torrent links here? Would that be more helpful and polite?

For everyone’s sake, could you please be more civil?

Also, I’m with the new guy here. I just did a quick DuckDuckGo search for 4K77, and the download links aren’t there at all. Even searching “4K77 download” gives no info at all. So you could really be more helpful, Jaxer.

Searching torrent instead of download should bring something up. Jaxer’s continued rude responses may have been out of line, but typing in one single search isn’t trying very hard.
