STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION — Page 446

Falcon Stretched Horizontally and shrunk a bit. Hanger Entrance widened and Made Bigger. It seems that this shot is the big offender and not the Hangar Matte really. Anyway it’s a rough guess at what it could look like fixed?!? and these are the sorts of things I love about your edits… It’s not the Prequel Battle droids.

You know that whole sequence from your original ANH Revisited was really great but it’s really just the Hangar interior and this Entrance / exit shot that needs a fix 😃 What you did already on the approach was great but it sort of tailed off on this one and the Hangar matte. Good Luck!

Why stretch the falcon? There was nothing wrong with the falcon. It’s completely out of proportion now

I’m curious, will the audio changes be a replication of the ones done for the SD version?

JEDIT: Also, will you be restoring Leia’s reaction shot before Alderaan’s destruction? Much like the Tarkin shot at the end of the film, it adds some much-needed emotion to the scene.

I honestly thought it looked a bit squashed… I have overdone it but I do feel that it looks too chunky or fat on that shot… It would be worth checking against a model shot?

Something don’t feel right about falcon but I will admit I just assumed it looked squashed and stretched it. It only has one gun on the top instead of 4 and a dent in the radar also…

You’re comparing it to an off the shelf model kit? Most kits are way off being accurate, especially when it comes to how “fat” the falcon is. And most base their kits off the 32" version which is well known to be a bit thinner than the 5foot model they used for ANH. There are 4 guns in that shot and no dent in the radar either.

Yeah sorry was looking on my phone… So seems like you might replace the falcon on the Hangar Matte?

I looked a 1 /72 Bangai ANH perfect grade model and so concluded or guessed on the Hangar Matte the Special Edition Falcon’s cockpit is too small and the Mandibles are stretched? But I am on the move and only looking at it on my phone I just know that these 2 shots don’t match up or feel disimilar… I am curious which way you going to handle it?

Anyway that crane thing with red lights is Good scale factor to match both up scale wise that was really the point or perhaps trick.

When I first showed up on this site (about 10 years ago) I voiced that my only problems with the Revisited version were the the removal of the reactions shots of Leia (Alderaan), 3PO (R2) and Tarkin (Death Star). I don’t have the message handy, but I’ve been assured by the man himself that he intends to restore all three.
[JEDIT: I haven’t watched AHN:R in several years & had forgotten that Leia’s reaction was cut.]

Will a 1080p version of the trilogy get a release too?

No. RotJ:R and ANH:R HD are the last two projects Adywan will be working on, and both of them will be released in 720p and NOT 1080p.

The unfortunate reality of the Star Wars prequel and Disney trilogies is that they will always be around. Forever. They will never go away. It can never be undone.

I also prefer to be referred to as “TNT”, not “Freezing”.

Oh. Shame. I also would’ve loved to see his vision of the Prequels. It sounded really ambitious and different.

We all would. Can’t blame the guy for drawing a line under the OT, though.

I do hope he’s kept whatever notes or plans he had for the PT. I’d be very interested to see what he had in mind, and surprised if someone else (preferably with but even without Ady’s blessing) didn’t end up trying to follow at least the general idea.

Yeah. I wish Ady would post an updated detailed breakdown of what he was planning on doing with the prequels, just to give other editors ideas.

I’m wondering if he also planned on re-editing the sequels too.

Adywan in the past has laid out a few details…although I’m having trouble finding those. I did however find this from the man himself:

While it will be next year at least before i write up all the ideas i had for the PT, this is one thing that was worked on. It was to be included in the Complete Saga trailer i had planned, but when decided not to do the PT, it was scrapped and never properly finished, so is still in its very rough stages.

@Adywan

  1. Do you plan on “modernizing” the iconic binary sunset scene for your 720p edit, like how you “modernized” some other shots?

  2. Did you have any plans to revisit the sequel trilogy before you decided to quit after ANH:R HD?

I suspect this is probably well known, but something I just read today that the escape pod shot used several times in Spaceballs is actually unused footage shot for Star Wars.

I know there was a bit of talk about the escape pod shot earlier in the thread so thought perhaps this might be worth sharing.

I’ve never heard this before and I’m not sure I believe it. The escape pod shot in ANH is well-known as being the first shot completed, and nothing about the Spaceballs design resembles anything else in Star Wars.

I’ve seen it online in a few places, here on IMDB (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0094012/trivia)…

The Millennium Falcon from the Star Wars saga makes a cameo appearance in this movie. Given a close look at the exterior shot of the Space Diner, and it can be spotted parked there among the other space vehicles. George Lucas got a chance to read the screenplay before production began, and loved it so much that he decided to have his special effects company, Industrial Light & Magic, help make this movie.

The escape pod launch sequence is an unused clip from Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977), provided to Mel Brooks by Lucasfilm.

In a 2013 television interview (shorty before receiving the AFI Lifetime Achievement Award), Mel Brooks stated that he personally obtained George Lucas’ full permission to parody any and all things Star Wars-related but, on one condition, that absolutely no merchandise of any kind be produced from this movie. This is the reason why all Yogurt and the Dinks do is merchandising (it is also why none of the merchandise seen in this movie was ever mass produced or publicly sold in any way).

There’s no way that’s true.

Comparison:

The design of the tunnel and pod are only passably similar and share no identical features, though the silly door on the pod and the excessive greebling of the tunnel should be dead giveaways that this was made specifically for Spaceballs.

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

I thought the first completed shot was a Death Star turret firing? Your point stands regardless, of course.
