Can anyone give me some good info on the current state of EA’s Battlefront II? I’ve got the first one, and for all it’s flaws, I’ve enjoyed it well enough despite not getting any of the DLC or playing any multiplayer.

I’m curious how the sequel differs from the first one in a few specific regards. I never bothered with the DLC because (as far as I was able to glean) I couldn’t play any of the new heroes or vehicles (and maybe even maps) offline. Can you use any of the dlc when playing offline “bot matches” in version 2? I’d be willing to buy a season pass if I could enjoy the content without HAVING to use it in multiplayer.

How’s the unlocking process for desired characters/ships? I remember there was a bunch of controversy initially but that they made changes/improvements?

How is multiplayer for us very casual gamers? I generally hate online multiplayer because I die before I take two steps. Over and over.

There’s no season pass for Battlefront II, all new content is free for all players, except for cosmetic items like skins that you can buy with real money or in-game money.

It seems that only the maps for the smaller online modes are available offline.

Unlocking is based solely on your progress playing the game, and credits earned after each match.

Everything is already fully unlocked when you play offline.

Multiplayer is very competitive I’m afraid, but even if I die a lot I found it far more enjoyable than offline play. (Offline play is a good training ground)

There’s a campaign in Battlefront II, somewhat easy and rather short, but with a quite enjoyable story, and a new interesting character.

Han: Hey Lando! You kept your promise, right? Not a scratch?
Lando: Well, what’s left of her isn’t scratched. All the scratched parts got knocked off along the way.
Han (exasperated): Knocked off?!

Cool, thanks for the info! Sounds like it’s worth the $20 or $30 it’s selling for these days. Cool to see they abandoned the season pass concept.

I am curious, for anyone who knows, am I still correct in believing that all the season pass type dlc (ships, characters, maps) for the first EA Battlefront is only playable in multiplayer? They’ve got some cool stuff (death star, bespin, scariff) that I’d love to play and would be willing to pay for. But since I don’t bother with online multiplayer I really need to know if I’d actually get to play the content before I paid for it…

It’s literally just a black version of the shirt he wears in ESB.

I wonder if anybody can give me a hand with this; it might belong in the tech advice forum and if so I’ll gladly move it, but since it’s about a game and not a video issue I’m posting it here.

I just started a replay of Knights of the Old Republic, and this time through I thought I’d try it with this mod to replace the original score with John Williams music from the films: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RtMja_ADUac

I followed the instructions as presented in the readme file that came with the download, which amounted to deleting the existing music files and replacing them with the folder full of properly-labeled Williams stuff. When I launched the game again, it loaded fine, but there was no music at all, only the ambient sound effects. After that didn’t work, I noticed that the original music was all .wav files, but that the replacement music contained a mix of .wav and .mp3 files. I converted the .mp3s to .wav and tried again, and this time the game crashed after the studio animations before the main menu. I then dropped the original files back in and it’s running fine now, but I’d really like to get the movie music working because I’ve never been a fan of the KOTOR original soundtrack. Anyone have any ideas? I’m running the Mac OSX version from the app store. I could switch to the Steam version as a last resort, but I’d rather not spend the extra ten bucks if it can be avoided.

I’m a big fan of KotOR soundtrack. At the same time it captures the SW feel but then again feels completely different and ancient, perfect for the era of the game. Too bad the themes are so short.

Maybe that’s what it is in the movie, but that’s not what the art on the card looks like.

Oh I see (had not looked at the card). Yeah not great, plus his head seems too small.

Ah, yeah that’s the other thing I couldn’t put my finger on! It’s a very strange image.
The Lando one seems to work though.

I have the first Star Wars Battlefront for PS4. I do not have a Playstation Plus subscription because I do not play enough video games to warrant it, so I am not able to access a lot of the content. Is it the same with Battlefront 2? Maybe I’m just too old thinking, but I am not about to give someone $60 a year to play a game I already fully purchased.

Battlefront II is first and foremost a multiplayer game, so there is some content that is only available when playing online. Mainly the bigger maps for the Galactic Assault mode, and all the objective-based modes (offline play is basically just deathmatch).

Well, I made the plunge and bought Battlefront 2 for the pc. Figured it’ll be a good way to break in my new laptop. It’s downloading as we speak. Will let you know what I think after I’ve had some time to try it out.

I downloaded it for the PS4 on Sunday. I’m already addicted to it. I didn’t care much for the first Battlefront, and when I head Battlefront 2 had issues with having to buy downloaded content, I just avoided the whole thing. I’ve read they tweaked things in response to customer complaints.

It’s only $8.24 on the Playstation Store. Money well spent. The graphics, sound, and controls are great, not to mention the outstanding story which is can canon by the way.

Still wish there were a lot more Star Wars video game being released. Looks like a big opportunity being missed.

For under 10 bucks I’d say it’s worth it even for solely offline play. If you’re going to be online, it’s a steal at that price.

Hopefully the Jedi game they have planned for this year (?) ends up being good.

Wow, $9 is a killer deal. I paid $30 for the pc version (I debated between it and the PS4 disc that can be had easily for $20). But with as much as I travel for work, having it on my laptop that I can bring with me was worth an extra $10. Plus I don’t have to pay the $50 yearly PSN fee to play online.

So far I’ve played the first few minutes of the single player campaign, and yeah, I’m addicted too! It just looks SOOO GOOD! Even better than the first Battlefront (which itself was astonishingly gorgeous) and the story so far is pretty cool. Looking forward to trying out other gameplay modes and characters soon.

Continuing further into the single player campaign, I don’t want to spoil too much, but if you didn’t care for the handling of Luke’s character in TLJ, you might want to give this game a shot…

Really enjoying the story. It has some very neat ideas. And there was once sequence that brought back some fond memories of Dark Forces: Jedi Knight. It wasn’t any kind of direct homage, but it involved bugs and just reminded me of that level(s?) where Kyle Katarn gets pestered by these things:

Do you know what really shocks me? There is only one game solely based on Attack of the Clones, and it was released on the Game Boy Advance.

The name’s Lawson. Noah Lawson.
