The fan film Vader Shards Of The Past is an amazing experience to witness. It will be available online tomorrow at 7:00 pm on the Star Wars Theory YouTube channel.
A witty and hilarious comedy. All-time classic. And a beautiful, grainy transfer from Criterion to boot.
I would put this in my sig if I weren’t so lazy.
Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse - Excellent. Rather like Big Hero 6, definitely the most enjoyable Spiderman film so far.
You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

In all fairness, Fugitive Alien and Time Of The Apes are super condensed versions of lengthy tv shows. Pity there aren’t English dubs of both series out there.

AQUAMAN (2018)
This felt like what a modern Republic serial would be like. A real fun popcorn movie. I don’t think you could make a better movie about this character.
Bumblebee (2018)
The first Transformers movie with heart. Great little film, it’s a wonder what can be done when Michael Bay isn’t at the helm. Also shows how well the G1 designs would have looked in live action. Hopefully we’ll see a lot more from Travis Knight in the future.

It’s The Undersea Kingdom for you and for me, and it’s swell! 😛
I’m boycotting Bumblebee on account of the massive Rick Astley diss. 😉

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (1988) - A very enjoyable watch. You can see the ending coming a mile away, but that doesn’t make it any less satisfying. B
The Trial (1962) - Very exciting from an intellectual and technical perspective (not as exciting from other perspectives). B
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) - This is approximately the billionth comic book movie and the millionth Spider-Man movie, yet somehow it manages to give the impression that it’s the first and only - in other words, like nothing you’ve seen before. I’ve already seen it 3 times. A
Paper Moon (1973) - An entirely agreeable film, never depressing, never shmaltzy. Just fun and human. A-
Wizards (1977) - This is a real mess - and there’s a lot about that I appreciate and a lot that just kinda baffles me. C+
There’s Something About Mary (1998) - There’s definitely something charming about the very specific bonkers perspective on reality this presents, but otherwise it’s not amazing. C+
Mandy (2018) - Visually and aurally hypnotic in a way most films can only dream of. Ultimately more style than substance, but who gives a fuck if you’re into this kinda vibe. B
Crazy Rich Asians (2018) - Smarter than your average ‘rom-com,’ though not quite as funny as the best. A film that takes its “crazy” self and its (asian) characters seriously, even if it doesn’t completely interrogate the “rich” aspect fully. B
Shirkers (2018) - It’s always a sign of a good film when your biggest complaint is that you wanted more. And yet here I really do - I want to know more about this failed film, about these people, about their Singapore, about what happens next - but I’d suppose Sandi Tan feels the same way. There’s always things about life and ourselves and our experiences that we’ll never fully understand. Shirkers nicely captures that feeling in a little film canister. B+
Love Actually (2003) - Actually sucks. C
The Rider (2018) - A film with some gut wrenching emotional content that really sneaks up on you. A stark yet empathetic account of mortality and obsolescence. So, you know, fun stuff. B+
Bumblebee (2018) - Has a couple moments where it slips into the typical rockem’ sockem’ stuff, but otherwise it almost goes without saying at this point that this is easily the best Transformers film and probably the only one that won’t give you a migraine. The bargain bin Spielberg stuff is an effort I much appreciate, even if it often plays as trying hard to be such. Pleasant and very watchable. B
Won’t You Be My Neighbor (2018) - Feels a bit too much like Mr. Rogers greatest hits / a filmized summary of his Wikipedia page, but it’s still a decently made one at that that gets to show off a lot of what made the guy so adored. B-
Mortal Engines (2018)
Beautiful designs throughout. A really interesting world full of uninteresting people. The characters are never really given anytime to breath or endear themselves to the audience. Instead the film rushes at a breakneck speed seemingly trying to stuff every last plot point from the book into a two hour run time. The material feels like it would have lended itself more to a mini-series.

Sorry To Bother You (2018)
Um…
I wish I had seen this with an audience.
Lightyears A.K.A. Gandahar . A french animated film from the 80s that was dubbed into english and re cast in the U.S. with American actors . It is an adult animated movie in the vein of Heavy Metal . It is on Youtube . I have had it on vhs since 1988 and only recently saw the French version with English subtitles which is also on youtube . The original French version has a completely different musical score which I prefer .https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QBrysnbRj6w and the original …https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=My7yQaP5FlM
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)
I enjoyed it quite a bit. I ended up seeing this later than I’d hoped because I missed my train to the cinemas the first time. Anyway, it was pretty good, I’d rank it fourth out of all the Spidey films.
Six out of ten.
Not enough people read the EU.

Bohemian Rhapsody (2018)
Okay, after thinking about it after 2 months,
its a solid 8.5-9/10, it couldve reached a 9.5 if they added in the complete Live Aid sequence
UNBREAKABLE (2000)
Solid film from back when M. Night Shyamalan was at his peak. Solid direction and performances from everyone.
SPLIT (2016)
A solid thriller and return to form from Shyamalan after a long slump. Fantastic performances from McAvoy. I wish I hadn’t missed this opening weekend and been one of those caught offguard by the ending.
GLASS (2019)
After nearly two decades we finally and suddenly have a complete UNBREAKABLE saga. Excellent execution and integration of SPLIT and UNBREAKABLE. Great performances from all, I was delighted to find that the actor that played Willis’ son also returned to his role 19 years later. I was surprised and amazed to discover this was a co-production between Universal and Disney, major kudos to Shyamalan for pulling that off. Hopefully he can continue on this streak of winners.

Our Man in Havana
Very witty and funny. A great movie. Glad I sprung for it from Twilight Time.

LOL. I’m not a hardcore Godzilla fan, so to me it’s just a mostly unremarkable anime.
It’s just that I liked nothing about it. It was tedious. Cliche anime characters speaking cliche anime dialog and going through cliche anime arcs.
The animation style was cool, but the design of everything was so dull that it was mute.
(I dunno if we’re talking about a single film or the entire trilogy. Don’t matter.)
I still love ya though.
