Especially since I already bought an IMAX ticket…
I haven’t seen it, but…I’m so sorry.
Blue Ruin (2013)
Incredible twist on the classic revenge stories that involves an incompetent central hero who struggles consistently with the consequences of what true revenge entails. Also has subtle commentary on the gun environment in America. Fantastic use of suspense throughout.
Pacific Rim (2013)
A fun film. Gorgeous visuals and great fight scenes. It gets bogged down a bit by the needlessly convoluted drift concept and the decision to set the film 12 years into the Kaiju war. But the main plot is decent and the character writing is solid. I wonder if del Toro had hoped they could turn the first 12 years into an animated series. It would certainly lend itself to that. In any case, I hope the sequel can live up to the visuals and character moments from the first.

Ha ha ha.
I gotta hold out hope! Especially since I already bought an IMAX ticket…

I don’t care what’s wrong with this film. I love the hell out it for existing at all. All the Marvel fans have gotten at least two dozen movies. I’m a kaiju fan and got this one. I’m just thrilled that I have it.

Well we did just get Skull Island and have the sequel to Godzilla to look forward to!

I only look forward to it if it isn’t a boring POS like its predecessor. Of course, it’s got Millie Bobby Brown and Vera Farmiga, so I’ll likely watch it regardless.

And it’s being directed by the guy who did Trick r’ Treat. I dunno if I could be more into seeing a film.
G’14 took a bad turn with the shift in character focus, but the world it built is great. Skull Island was a lot of fun and expanded nicely on the franchise lore.
I like where it’s all going so far.
Pacific Rim: Uprising (2018)
A pretty fun ride. It’s not quite as good as the first but I commend them for staying true to the spirit of the original. The only thing that really drags it down is their reliance on the kid genius trope toward the beginning. Thankfully it’s not overdone and the rest of the film carries its own weight. Hopefully Guillermo will return if they decide to do a third entry.

So it’s not just another entry in the Transformers film (term used losely) series?
I find that hard to believe.
Wow. That’s highly offensive to any other film series. Michael Bay projects are a special level of awful all unto themselves.

I’ve got no faith in the film, but it’s ties to the original Pacific Rim should be enough to keep it from falling that low…
Then again, the PT’s ties to the OT should have been enough to do the same…

I’m just going off what I see in trailer snippets on TV. It looks like a Transformer movie to me.
Transformers are giant robots fighting other giant robots.
Pacific Rim is giant machines piloted by people fighting giant monsters.
Totally different things.

Too clean and shiny for Transformers where you can’t tell where one robot starts and the other ends.
Now, Power Rangers is the perfect comparison to make from the trailer.

Ah I sit-in-a-robot corrected.

Same “ugh” difference.
Frink, i disagree with your blanket dismissal.
I can actually enjoy Pacific Rim as a not very good movie, but entertaining. I plan to watch the new one when it makes it to Netflix or Amazon prime.
I cannot actually enjoy any Transformers movies.
Pacific Rim was made by a talented film maker with vision and heart and love for the genre.
Transformers was made by a company that saw an opportunity to make lots of money.
That’s the biggest, and most important difference.
PR2 isn’t made by the same people and looks like garbage though.
All I see is a bunch of Robot Jox ripoffs.

Citizen Kane.
I kid you not. It was on TCM last night when I couldn’t sleep. Before that it was Casablanca, which I recorded and will watch later.

I would put this in my sig if I weren’t so lazy.
Ha ha ha! Surprised I didn’t dream about newspapers.

I dismiss your post and I give no reason for doing so.
