Currently my favorite is Papa Murphy’s “pan” pizza – chicken and artichokes with creamy garlic sauce. I’ve tried a lot of pizza all over the world, and honestly this is pretty sublime.

However, when in Italy, pizza is an entirely different and ethereal thing. Especially if I can get it with FRESH anchovies (which don’t seem to exist in the U.S.) and prosciutto.

Interestingly, one of the very best pizzas I’ve ever had was in 2008 at the top of Victoria Peak in Hong Kong. Very authentic Italian thin crust style.

I mean, the whole concept’s pretty flawed. Home ovens just aren’t made to produce great pizza (sure, there are many ways to get great pizza from your home oven, many discussed on this site, but none of them read “Preheat oven to 425°, toss the 1.5”+ thick pizza in the oven, cook until somewhere between raw-middled and hard and lifeless.") I think “freshness” was part of their selling point (Look, there are raw vegetables on my uncooked pizza! It must be healthy!) but the quality of the toppings were never apparently higher than any other major chain. I’d rather eat Pizza Hut or Round Table—or, frankly, plenty of the better frozen pizzas—for dinner any day.

The proof is when I pull my pizza out of the oven. It’s cooked thoroughly, not raw, not burned, MUCH cheaper than the other chains and much better taste.

But it ends up being a much better pizza than the major chains and I like that I can cook it a bit longer (I feel most chains under cook the pizza).
It’s not a great pizza compared to going to a real pizza place (not a chain), but it’s great for what it is. Cheap, quick and tasty.

The fact that the author said he would rather have Pizza Hut is almost proof that he’s just plain wrong. Pizza Hut is disgusting. Little Caesar’s is a lot better than that crap. Though maybe my memory of Pizza Hut circa five years ago is faulty.

Anyway, what Ray said. I’ve never encountered a pizza that wasn’t cooked to near perfection outside of my own error (like not hearing the timer and forgetting to check the oven). The take ‘n’ bake system is actually great because the customer is able to bake the pizza however well done they want it, instead of getting a half burnt pizza with pieces that tear eachother in half because they weren’t cut properly from a fast food chain.

A bit hyperbolic, but mostly yes. It depends on the day.

I don’t think so, but everything longer than about a year ago is fuzzy to me.

ok, but the post right before mine (Dek) said it is half burnt.

I’m pretty sure Dek is just one guy. Could be wrong…
