OH MY GOD WE’RE HAVING A FIRE… sale
Road
I think we still have a rider or two on the board, so this will certainly be familiar. For non-riders, it may still be pretty interesting. It’s a documentary about road racing. Far & away the most famous is Isle Of Man, but there are a couple of others. Road racing in the motorcycle world is similar to the same type of racing in automobiles.
It’s arguably more dangerous however. As a lifelong rider having spent many hours on proper tracks - motorcycle road racing seems like insanity to me. I can’t for the life of me figure out the attraction. It’s super interesting to watch, but seems like suicide to participate.
When I ride public roads, I’m always a bit more tense because it isn’t a groomed & closed facility. These riders go out specifically looking to race in those less-than-perfect environments. They come shockingly close to things I go to great length to avoid; fences, walls, trees, buildings, etc. Crazy to see some of the speed wobbles they get compared to a manicured track.
This documentary is about a family of racers very well known in the motorcycle world. It covers two generations and all their successes and tragedies. Here are a few videos (unrelated to the film) showing some road racing.

SONIC RACES THROUGH THE GREEN FIELDS.
THE SUN RACES THROUGH A BLUE SKY FILLED WITH WHITE CLOUDS.
THE WAYS OF HIS HEART ARE MUCH LIKE THE SUN. SONIC RUNS AND RESTS; THE SUN RISES AND SETS.
DON’T GIVE UP ON THE SUN. DON’T MAKE THE SUN LAUGH AT YOU.
The Cloverfield Paradox 2018
I think my arm’s trying to write something…
THiS MoVIe sUckS!
^Lol.
I don’t think I posted my review yet.
I thought Cloverfield Paradox was meh. Perfectly average sci-fi movie I’ve watched on Netflix many times before in different incarnations. I didn’t understand why it wasn’t released theatrically until I watched it.
6/10
For reference I’d give the original an 8/10 and Lane a 9/10.
I liked it better than the original… *shrug*
Also I thought the acting/production values elevated it above other average Netflix sci-fi fare… *shrug*
I guess I will remain in my corner as the movie’s only fan.

I never saw the original, but not being a fan of super-shaky found-footage stuff in generall, I might agree.

Probably.

I would likely enjoy this new one more than the original, if only because that one gave me bad motion sickness. The acting was fine and I liked the realism, but otherwise it wasn’t very interesting. *shrug*
I really dig the original Cloverfield (and the intriguing, detailed backstory to it which I guess they’re ignoring now. Shame)
Thought 10 Lane woulda’ been much better without the Cloverfield hook.
Paradox would be bad either way, but is probably worse than it was before they decided to tag a Cloverfield ending onto another unrelated film again.
The “Cloverfield” of Lane was easily its worst aspect, though I thought it was fairly well integrated on this one. Then again I never thought there was much to the “mythology” of it beyond some very vaguely intriguing tiny bits dropped in the first one. This seemed to fit well enough for me, at least.
Phantom Thread - Everything was phenomenal about this besides the plot and ending.
Plot?

This is akin to lighting a house of fire and then telling the people inside the house to ignore the fire. It just isn’t possible.
Care to expand on THE VOID? (glad someone else has seen it now!)

Well… that’s the real trick isn’t.

Yeah. I was disappointed because I felt it didn’t fully deliver on presenting a complex relationship. It was certainly strange, but not complex.
I laughed.
