Still just one PM. (Thank you ZigZig!!!)
Here’s the description I wrote up of what I need done, jst so people have an idea what they’d be volunteering for:

Open the Despecialized v3.0 tasksheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1NwFnvrRp3CnyDOdr9W1__8PLBGwH8WOKkl8mjke8LQs/edit#gid=0
Open Doublefives gallery: https://doubleofive.wordpress.com/swsevc/
Open the NTSC GOUT (or Despecialized or something else synced to it) and open the BD version.

For each shot in 005’s gallery, right-click the image and "copy image address"
Then go to the tasksheet, double-click on the placeholder image and replace the adress in the pop-up box with the address of the 005 image.

Then copy the scrpiption from 005’s gallery and paste it in the description column.

Next find the shot in both the GOUT and the BD and put in the time codes - these are just for me to find the shots more easily on the timeline, so they don’t need to be super precise.

Leave all the drop-down options on the default of “To Do” or “Not Ready” - I will handle those when I start working on the shots.

Important notes: 005’s galleries aren’t always in perfect chronological order, so you may stumble across a shot, that is supposed to belong between two shots you’ve already put in the sheet. This is why I made the shot naming convention with hundred increments, so that when from example you’ve already done shots SW-R1-S00400 and SW-R1-S00500 and you find a shot that is supposed to go between them, you can right click the line number of SW-R1-S00400 and click “Insert one below” and then copy the line above to it and edit it and name the shot SW-R1-S00410.

Also, sometimes, when a change has occurred across an entire scene, like the lightsaber recompositing, for example, it is only represented in the gallery by a few examples but I need each individual shot to be on the spreadsheet.

That’s pretty much it. Please let me know, if you have any questions.

Thank you for these very clear explanations. I’ll begin this evening after work hours!

JEDIT: I just wrote a little script to make the whole first part of the job done in a few minutes :

  • get image address
  • get comment

I’m now in a meeting, but I’ll launch it before tonight, so that the spreadsheet will contain all the informations taken from 005.

Can anyone edit the spreadsheet now? I thought I’d have to send a specific link for that.
Also, please, can someone point me to the info on the reel ends and starts? I don’t want to reply to the (now many) PMs I got, before I can provide that info, so that I can assign each person a reel to work on.
Thanks to everyone, who offered help! I’m very grateful!

Yes, I can edit the spreadsheet. Last night I did up to the first 11 minutes of the film before I had to go to bed. Will do more tonight.

If someone wants to let me know if I have shots out of order (I had to reorder the whole thing when I moved it to it’s own profile), just drop me a PM.

And I looked and looked for way to quickly export all of the descriptions and pictures to a spreadsheet, but it was beyond my skills.

I just did it with a script, and sent the file to Harmy.
PS : thank you for this amazing work!

It was not beyond your skills then! Thanks! If I add any more entries I’ll manually add them to the 3.0 document.

I think it was a lot easier for me to write a script than to visually compare, meticulously step by step, the changes in 3 movies as you did!

All the credit is yours!

Would it be against forum rules to ask if someone here could burn a copy of NJVC Custom Bluray Set for someone that doesn’t have the ability ?

The short answer is that it is not ok for someone here to do that. And this isn’t the NJVC Set thread, this is.

The long answer would be to ask why you don’t have the ability. If it is a matter of equipment, you don’t need anything all that fancy beyond a blu-ray burner. You can find them for around $50 or maybe less.

If it is a matter of technical skill, you don’t need much. I’m not even in the same league as many on this site, and I figured it out and put up this guide to help. It’s long, but straightforward. Follow it step by step and you’ll do fine.

I have the ability to do the burning, just don’t have the equipment nor the money to buy any. I don’t see why asking someone for help would be against the rules, but I guess this place has rules you have to follow…even when they don’t make sense. Oh, well. Guess I’ll have to wait until Disney gets off the pot and puts them out themselves.

Being given a copy isn’t against the rules as far as I know, but people don’t like conversations about this because selling and buying usually comes up, which is against the rules.

THE SUN RACES THROUGH A BLUE SKY FILLED WITH WHITE CLOUDS.

that’s exactly my point. I don’t have the equipment to make a blu-ray set, although I do have the knowledge to do so. As well, I don’t have the ability to print out decent covers…or even bad covers. I wasn’t looking to buy…just wondering if someone could make the set for me. Though I can’t afford the discs now, when I could, I’d be more than willing to send them to someone who could do the set and print out some covers…but I guess that’s not allowed here.

That’s definitely allowed, no problem - if you can find someone, who’ll do it for free. Or even if you really just covered the cost of materials and no profit was made, I think that would be ok too.

And assuming he meets the other perquisites of owning the official SE releases, of course.

Oh, I do. I have Star Wars on VHS twice and on DVD.

Sorry to be a bubble burster of late, but the Despecialized Editions and were primarily sourced from the blu-rays. So what you’re supposed to own first are either those or IV, V, and VI of the HD Digital Downloads.

I found the blu Ray set through the Disney movie club, of which I’m a member. Not a big fan of the Vader jedi scream, but the price was right. I suppose I can just keep it as a lending copy…

The forum rules state that no profit is allowed off of fan edits and projects. As long as you don’t pay anything beyond the expenses, yuou should be fine.

Ah, OK. Great! Go for it then!

My only worry was that you said “VHS twice and on DVD”, which don’t meet the requirements. But it doesn’t matter if you got the blu-rays discounted or even for free as gift, just as long as you’ve got them!

I wish I could help you and others with the burning, but it presents two problems. First, I feel it is just pushing the copyright envelope too far, even if I didn’t profit, because I would be physically distributing publicly.

Second, even if all that were perfectly fine, I’m also wary of becoming a “go-to” guy for disc burning. I don’t want to take on a huge load of users here who might want a set, but lack the equipment.

After the comments above, though, you may be able too find someone else here who feels differently. It’s worth a shot!
