I’m cautiously optimistic about this movie.
Lawrence Kasdan and John Williams involvement is really exciting, but do we need to see this story? That can be said about any movie ever made, but have I ever cared what the Kessel Run looked like?

We didn’t need to see Rogue One either and for me at least it turned out to be brilliant.

In the last few days I’ve decided to channel my anger at what a letdown/mess/bore TLJ was into being optimistic and supportive of the Solo film. It’s certainly pretty easy to get on board since really no one is giving it a chance. I mean it’s got KHALEESI in it.

In the end it may turn out that my personal headcanon will just be to ignore the sequel trilogy, Rian Johnson’s thing, and just appreciate Rebels, the Anthology films, and the amazing Darth Vader comic (among other written feats i.e. new Thrawn book by Zahn)

So the recent ‘unofficial’ artwork proved to be genuine marketing material after all.

As well as giving the Falcon a new colour-scheme , these lego images confirm that it’s front end has been heavily re-designed. I prefer the TWO-pronged design personally, and am curious to see if this was just a cosmetic make-over to the shape, or if it serves an actual function during the movie.

I already came across a behind-the-scenes pic of that blue speeder somewhere (it was on tyred wheels which will be erased), and liked the look of it…but I didn’t know it was going to be driven by Han at the time. I wonder who his passenger is?

And it seems like we’re in for some kind of TIE-fighter/Stardestroyer appearance too, judging by these pics.

I’m hoping these new stormtroopers look good, and recall that a source is claiming they are known as ‘Range Troopers’.

The only thing I’m a little wary about is those small white ‘dog’-like critters that are also revealed - I just hope they’re a bit more impressive than the ones seen in the AOTC Sandpeople camp scene. 😉

The front end of the Falcon does have a purpose. It’s for cargo smuggling.

I’m hoping that’s the case CS, and that the leaked artwork of the Falcon is indeed showing an actual bit of ‘cargo container’ attatched to it’s front.

It’s not clear from the leaked artwork (or the lego pic) that the new section s not part of it’s original design…but I’m hoping that the reason this piece is looks like it’s just a part of the sip’s structure, is because it’s a cunningly-disguised ‘secret storage comparment’ which is just meant to LOOK like it’s part of the hull.

And probably easily jettisoned in case of Imperial emergency. We do know Han’s troubles with Jabba started when he had to dump a load of Spice.

Kenner made a ship for their Mini-Rigs line that docked with the Falcon, but it never made it past a prototype. They called it a Cargo Handler.

The paint scheme is reminiscent of the one it had in ROTS:

However, other than the color, I think they’re going to be ignoring everything else about it.

I get the feeling in the film we’re going to learn that YT-1300 freighters come stock with that front covering and that Han removes it as part of his “special modifications.” Basically, I see the Falcon as the Star Wars equivalent of a hot rod:

And I can totally see an homage to this scene playing out in the film.

I was thinking kinda the same.

If Solo is going to have an American Graffiti sort of feel to it, then the Ron Howard decision is really not a bad move.

Eh I was hoping one would be Dengar

Mimban Stormtrooper? That was the planet in Splinter Of The Mind’s Eye! Which Han and Chewie didn’t appear in. Weird!

I can’t wait for a year and a half of people complaining about how they “ruin” the Kessel Run or something.

I wonder if they’ll show the spice mines of Kessel.

Can’t show the Kessel Run without someone complaining that either A) they used parsecs as a unit of time or B) they didn’t use parsecs as a unit of time.

I for one don’t give a shit.

Which leaves the only thing to do as that EU black hole slingshot race or whatever.

Yeah, I don’t care either.

I won’t mind if we see a Rodian who looks like Greedo in the background. (They even dressed alike in the Jabba scene.) He just doesn’t have to have any lines.

Just for laughs there needs to be a guy who looks like Declan Mulholland in the movie. Same costume and everything. And he’s mistaken for Jabba. 😉

Someone was able to get the character names off those Lego sets.

Han Solo (Imperial Disquise) & Tobias Beckett (Imperial Disquise)

This could end up being a funny little nod to ANH. Was it ever established who’s idea it was to disguise themselves as stormtroopers? I always got the idea that it was Han’s idea.

Also, wasn’t Rey originally supposed to be called Kira? I guess Qi-Ra (Emilia Clarke’s character) is meant to be a nod to that.

Sorry, but this is the kind of thing that triggers my OCD…

Why is there a dash between Han & Solo in the title of this thread?

And I too am cautiously optimistic/ambivalent about this movie. As much as I love the OT, I think it was an odd choice for a story in 2017. If this had been done in 1985, no problem, but I’m unconvinced that Han Solo will be a big draw. I’m honestly a bit surprised they didn’t do an Ahsoka movie or something more contemporary.

Han Shot. Period.

Because it’s a solo movie. Not a Solo movie.

Ah. Got it. I still need a Zanex, but I got it.

Who?

Because I’m new, I’m not sure if you’re serious or screwing with me, but if your point is that I mispelled her name, then yes, I mispelled her name. It has been corrected. My apologies.
