How about The Quiet Earth? I think it may have been released on DVD elsewhere, but not here in the U.S.

The Quiet Earth got released in the UK on DVD, I got a copy, it's fullscreen but crap picture quality as they over-used temporal smoothing to cleanup the picture.

Just remembered a "only available on LD if you want it in widescreen" film I've been wanting for a while now, The Keep, I managed to get a recording off a satellite broadcast but it was fullscreen, a bit better than the VHS though.

Well since this has kinda become a 'does anyone have' request thread. I was wondering if anyone has a DVD of This Planet Earth. The movie from MST3K: The Movie. I dont know if this was made available on LD or only vhs or what. But I wanted to put it in a two disc case with the MST3K movie.

Great film! Its actually called 'This Island Earth' and I think had a limited DVD run with a cruddy old transfer. Don't have it but you may be able to track one down online or possibly request it at a.b.dvd.midnightmovies (if you do the newsgroup thing)

oops, yeah This Island Earth. Shows how much i watch MST3K. I actually got the movie for a friend of mine who likes the show and couldnt find the dvd anywhere. I took the cover from online and altered it so it has the Poster for This Island Earth on the back cover (the image on the back wasnt the best quality) Have like 3 different versions or so, not much different, just different pics on the back and slightly different pics on the front. I figured it would work nicely if i could find a DVD of the actual movie to include with the MST3K version in a dual case with this artwork.

I had no luck in my previous searches online (though i wasnt searching for a used copy of an actual dvd) and I dont do the newgroup thing, ive been meaning to get into it, so maybe ill actually do that sometime soon. But would feel kinda bad just coming in and requesting something on my first post

Did you notice that if you click the cover, it does indeed read "The George Lucas Special Edition"? That edition is also readily available in the US. It's simply a movie-only edition of the 2-disc version.

With regard to the Frighteners directors cut & the documentary, I've just purchased the laserdisc rips from a seller on Ebay. Normally I wouldn't, but it's not something I wanted to wait for. I'll post back here when I've taken delivery & watched it. If it's any good I'll be willing to run a few copies off and post them out for others to torrent.

Please post here once you know the details. Garrett (ocpmovie) is sending me over his copy of the set. He has one disc that has the director's cut and another that has the documentary. His movie disc has no commentary, but I have the film with commentary on VHS. I was going to rip the audio from my tape and re-author the movie DVD to have a menu and the commentary, but if your set already has this, there may be no need. And even if it doesn't, maybe the transfer is a bit better.

THX-1138 (the original LD transfer) will be on the torrent network in just about a week or SO!!!!!!!!!

Great news, Rikter! I was working on putting my (okay but not great) .avi copy to DVD, but I'm sure this will be better.

I think it would be great to do this up with the same chapter skips and titles as the Director's Cut, where applicable. Also, I think a cover based on the single-disc cover art would be nice... since that should have been the non-director's cut version anyway! (damn this not releasing the original as well obstinance...) Either that, or there should have been an alternate two-disc version.

Emule is a bit difficult to handle at my place, perhaps if anybody manages to get those files they could upload 2 separate torrents at MySpleen? The movie might be pushing it, but the doco would definitely be allowed. A 4-hour OOP doco ripped from LD sounds right up the Spleen's alley.

I really want them!!

so, i bought a 4 disc set of blade runner on ebay, includes the international cut, on the edge documentary and a dallas/denver screening workprint

i´ve also got two different frighteners sets, set no1 is 2 discs, movie on one and making of on the other, complete with menus, source is Ld to vhs to dvd, so quality isnt the best
set no2 is a Ld-player to dvd recorder version, lame menus, this versions got the movie and commentary on disc1 and making of on disc2


so if anyone is interested, lmk my pm is on

its on myspleen...make sure to include dead torrents as i dont know if it still has seeds...if it doesnt i may be able to seed it, but pretty sure its an iso so id have to re-rip it exactly as i dont have the original

I just got a copy of the Original THX-1138 on DVD!!!!!

I need artwork now SO if ANYONE has ANY high-rez artwork for THX-1138 please hook me up!

Here's a start - THX Lobby Cards - it's a page that, while I didn't find large scans of movie posters, the lobby card section contains great scans at full resolution. These images would be ideal for maybe the back of the DVD cover or something. Anyway, I'll continue to mine the internet for stuff.
