Best Viewing Order!

Star Wars Despecialized
Star Wars Holiday Special
Empire Strikes Back Despecialized
Droids cartoon all episodes
Return of the Jedi Despecialized
Both Ewok Movies

Now rewatch the original trilogy but the 1997 Special Editions

Episode 1
Episode 2 IMAX cut
Episode 2 DVD cut
2D Clone Wars cartoon Volume 1+2
Episode 3
Robot Chicken Star Wars
Family Guy Star Wars

At this point watch Willow and Red Tails

Next is to run through the entire Blu-Ray complete Saga of the six Star Wars movies so that you can see all the “improvements”

Now watch the Clone Wars movie and subsequent TV show all the way through.

Once that is finished watch Season 1 and 2 of Rebels
Then watch The Force Awakens
Then watch rebels season 3
then watch Rogue One
Then watch the Hal1000 edits of the prequel trilogy
Then watch all the deleted scenes from all eight main series films
Then watch Empire of Dreams
You are now ready for the Last Jedi

After being beaten and battered by prequel hate, I promise not to be that to the next generation.

You’ll be done just in time for Episode VIII IX.

I finally decided to watch the saga in episodic order and I am very much regretting it. There’s just less emotional investment watching it this way, in my opinon. I’ll stick to the normal viewing of OT, PT, ST etc.

If I were to host a marathon for mixed company this year, which I’m not:

Clone Wars microseries
Labyrinth of Evil
Rogue One
A New Hope
Empire Strikes Back
Return of the Jedi
The Force Awakens Restructured

My stance on revising fan edits.

Clone Wars microseries

At last ! I never get why so many people don’t watch this masterpiece (yep) in their marathon (the microseries is better than most of the movies ! CW’s Grievous might be the best SW vilain since the Emperor).

I would include R1 - in a fanedited form, no way I’m ever gonna watch the boring theatrical cut again - but it bears too many consistency issues with ANH (whereas it is supposed to end a few minutes before ANH starts). TPM and AOTC inconsistencies happen such a long time ago before the OT that it seems less problematic than R1 issues with ANH.

The microseries has very good parts and very bad parts. Overall it’s ok.

A masterpiece? Lol.

Star wars despecialized
Empire despecialized or esb-R
I-III a galaxy betrayed (optional)
Rouge one digmod edit (rise of the rebellion)
Return of the Jedi despecialized (until ady finishes rotj-r)
The force awakens edit by Hal and the gang
Your favorite pirate rip of last Jedi

My logic is superior you might as well erase all other posts. This IS the correct viewing order.

You and everyone involved should be proud.

Hey Fink when you said 2,2,2,2 you were referring to ESB? Because that’s how I took it.

Frink was showing a very wrong way to watch a marathon, so I am pretty sure he ended on the worst movie, 4 times… But I am not Adywan.

In a few years, I’m going to watch the saga with my young children and am preparing now. Currently, here’s my plan:

EpIV DEED
EpV DEED
EpVI DEED
Rogue One

EpI (official or undetermined edit)
EpII (official or undetermined edit)
The Clone Wars (essential episodes/arcs - Mortis Trilogy, Yoda’s Journey, Ashoka Accused, etc)
EpIII (official or undetermined edit)
Rebels (not all at once, but this would be when to start it)

EpVII (official)
EpVIII (official)
EpIX (hopefully in theater)

Has anyone compiled a list of what they consider to be essential episodes of TCW?

My children almost know the stories better than I do at this point from books, apps, and toys, so how to handle the prequels is my greatest challenge. The little ones are obsessed with Darth Maul and badly want to see whatever it is he appears in. Obviously, under no circumstances would I lead-off with Episode I, but even when we do watch it I don’t want them becoming enamored with Jar Jar as the very young tend to do. Episode II is a dumpster fire and Episode III is only marginally better. I’m conflicted about wandering too much from the canon/official versions with fan edits, but I also haven’t yet sampled any. Hopefully, I can acquire l8wtr’s and Hal’s prequel trilogy.

Han Shot. Period.
