Is that a sly reference to Buford T. Justice? Smokey and The Bandit opened the same weekend as Star Wars in 1977.

Ha! I still vividly remember laughing my ass off to Buford T. Justice’s misfortunes when my age was in the single digits.

The Hollywood Reporter just posted this short clip about Mark discussing the Wampa scene on Twitter:

The clip they show is from the unaltered version of the scene, and the presenter notes that the Special Edition version (she actually says the words “Special Edition”) is much more graphic. I’m pretty sure that’s exactly why they use the OUT instead of the SE for the video, but I still found it kind of neat that an outlet like the Hollywood Reporter would bother going into any amount of detail about SE differences in 2017.

The Star Wars Holiday Special is indeed not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Now that 1993 Ninja Turtles Holiday Special is a real turd.

I managed to watch the Holiday Special twice without any crutches. It wasn’t very fun, though.

I’m 90% sure they just downloaded and used this video straight from Youtube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B6o2WX4crxg), which would actually make it the DSE, not the GOUT.

And I’m not super surprised, the kind of people working on these things are pop culture fans - which, for the most part, means Star Wars fans - and most fans know about the SE and the differences. Plus it was a video about a tweet so they had to add additional info to pad it out.

I kinda miss the prequels. When they came out, I loved them. Of course, I was still in the single-digit ages and didn’t understand what competent filmmaking was, but I miss that naïve appreciation I had for them. I even kinda miss the awful, ugly VHS/DVD cover art with the gold Roman numerals behind the logo.

Pretty soon I’ll be back to accepting 6 Star Wars movies again, I’ll just have replaced the PT with TFA, R1 and TLJ. It’s better this way, but bittersweet.

Mebbe I’ll rent The Force Awakens and Rogue One Blu-rays from Netflix sometime. Deleted scenes and documentaries and what-not.
