I found your problem. You should watch Star Wars. That’s a much better movie than A New Hope.

Nope, I grew up watching Star Wars, ANH was a decent chance to revitalize my desire to watch the movie. It was a wonderful groundbreaking movie for it’s time, but out of everything it is the most dated and the most filled with flaws and things I would have like to have seen them actually change for today’s viewing audience.

Screw today’s viewing audience. They suck.

If today’s viewing audience is incapable to watch a forty year-old movie knowing that it is a forty year-old movie, then they’re too stupid to appreciate anything.

As much as I hate the prequels, saying that the Holiday Special is better is absurd. The Holiday Special is the most boring piece of media ever created. It’s not so bad it’s good, it’s so bad it’s really bad.

It’s so bad that even the Rifftrax guys couldn’t save it, and I had to turn it off halfway through despite their valiant attempt to hold my interest.

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

Neither the OT nor the EU were butchered to conform to the Holiday Special or include “holidayisms”, so your argument is invalid.

Actually, your argument that their argument is invalid is invalid. Your bitterness does not objectively invalidate other peoples’ opinions.

“Your argument is invalid” is a tongue-in-cheek remark that is never given as a serious response to anything. If I were seriously disregarding mfm’s opinion, I would’ve pulled an impscum.

Completely agree.

Not enough people read the EU.

Can not we agree that any SW movie that contains the word “special” is bad and/or unclassifiable?

Oh come on, it had one of my favorite riffs of all time (“What are you supposed to be, tobacco?”). Granted, it was during the Fruit of the Loom commercial, so it might not actually count.

So it seems that both OT and EU include several mentions to SWHS, and pose some problems that required a revision or a later explanation, such as Chief Bast’s death or Itchy in a catamaran…

Boba Fett was introduced in the SWHS on purpose, though: he was already written for the TESB’s script. Not sure about Kashyyyk, but IIRC it was already considered as a setting for the original SW or mentioned in Chewie’s background.

Anyway, I think this thread’s going pretty OT even for this site’s name 😄

Totally agree, but it is ranked by DuracellEnergizer in a topic called “Ranking the Star Wars films”…

That’s an exterior factor that has nothing to do with the films themselves.

That’s not in the OT.

  • Death of Chief Bast aboard the Death Star needs to be reconsidered, as he appeared in SWHS a year later.

That’s not in the OT.

  • Kashyyyk, as shown in SWHS (and drawn by Ralph McQuarrie), eventually appeared in ROTS.

That’s not in the OT.

  • According to “The Visual Dictionary of Star Wars, Episode III”, Itchy appeared in ROTS.

That’s not in the OT.

  • Lumpa appeared in several EU literature, and Waroo is a canonical character since Aftermath: Empire’s End.

That’s not in the OT.

That’s not in the OT.

So it seems that both OT and EU include several mentions to SWHS

None of that was in the OT.

Dear ray_afraid, DuracellEnergized wrote “Neither the OT nor the EU”.
“nor the EU”.
I repeat : “nor the EU”.
“nor the EU”.
“nor the EU”.

So I gave some examples of EU that include “holidayisms” (his word).
BTW, death of Chief Bast aboard the Death Star IS in the OT. Boba Fett IS in the OT. According to John Doom, Kashyyyk IS mentioned in the OT.

JEDIT: and Frink is right: HS is not even a film.
