Does it mean the special edition canon of Greedo shooting at Han is now officially changed or is it (more likely imo) just down to the fear of nerd rage that including that part might provoke?

Pablo Hidalgo addressed this a while ago in this twitter thread:

“All that’s canon is that two people entered that booth and Greedo died. Reports vary.”

John Mollo, Oscar-Winning ‘Star Wars’ Costume Designer, Dies at 86

Sad news. His work on SW and Alien made those films much more tangibly real. RIP.

I’ve always wished for an art book of his SW drawings. I still hope that comes to happen one day.

Sad to hear. I still remember his interview in the original making of ESB paperback. I really wanted one of those Nostromo crew caps when I was younger. I might get one yet.

It’s time for me to come clean with you guys…I’ve never seen the unaltered OT.

And yet you still argue that Hayden in ROTJ makes more sense than Shaw.

LOL

It’s not like I’ve never seen the footage. I don’t think I need to see it within the context of the whole movie to take a stance on it. To me, Shaw as Anakin is a plot hole.

Old good guys die, ghosts are old men. Old bad guy dies, ghost is young man. It makes more sense that he looks like someone you (and Luke!) saw 5 minutes before than someone you haven’t seen in 6 hours (during a marathon) and Luke has never seen in his life.

If he’s the same guy from 5 minutes ago, why does isn’t he bald and gray?

For the same reason Obi-Wan isn’t still cut in half and Yoda isn’t still sick.

Obi-Wan totally should have been a cut-in-half ghost!

If you could only find a way to digitally erase Obi Wan’s bottom half for your edits. 😉

Perhaps it’s not random enough. Maybe we just need to talk about something else for a few posts then segeue back into this without warning to wrap this up.

I personally hate blue milk. Didn’t you have a thought or two to add to that as well Frink?

What do you people want, dead ghosts that lie motionless on the ground?

Anakin appears as himself as he should have been by that point in his life. His redemption carries through to the Force-afterlife. When he was redeemed and lay dying in Luke’s arms, he was Anakin again, and Vader was no more. To paste Hayden onto Anakin’s ghost is to truly divorce yourself from the story you told in 1983. That’s the whole point of Anakin’s story in ROTJ: he did NOT die when Vader arose in the pre-ANH era, he is alive and he came through at the end. Anakin’s ghost therefore appears, as do Obi-Wan’s and Yoda’s, at the age he died.
It’s amazing to me how people struggle with the redemption plot of ROTJ, which is my favorite aspect to any of the films. (Though ROTJ isn’t my favorite overall.)

Hal gets it. Changing anakin’s Force Ghost changes his story and negates the fact that “there [was] still good in him”. That “good” was that Anakin Skywalker was still there, buried deep down inside the monstrous Vader and trying to get out.

In way, Vader is the mask itself. Once it came off, he was human again. So Shaw’s face is integral to the scene and the ending.

I struggle with it also, but in a wholly different fashion than the PT/SE fanboys do.

^Fair enough. But at least you understand it before disliking it.
My ‘you people’ was rhetorical, I know the community at large here doesn’t need my lecture.
