Here’s this very small clip ripped from my very old Holiday Special VHS tape. I thought some of you might appreciate it, it’s built up quite a little mythology of its own (even being parodied on an episode of South Park once!).

I’ve uploaded it to yousendit.com

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

Finally! I've been wanting to see that clip for ages. Amazingly enough, none of my copies of the Holiday Special have that included.

BTW, what is the TV station shown there? It's Channel 2, W___-TV in some city...

I checked the raw rip and I can just barely make out that it says "WCBS-TV New York".

Considering the Wookiees, that's the coolest local tie-in story I have ever heard of.

Cool, thanks. Now take a look at your cartoon segment. Does it have a WCBS station ID in it somewhere? If so, can you make a screen shot of it?

Thanks...

I just checked, and it does not. Sorry. Why were you interested in a station ID in that segment?

I wanted to find out which version that clip came from. All copies of the Holiday Special come from a limited number of originals that were taped on VCRs in various cities back in 1978. You can usually tell which version you have by checking the station ID during the cartoon segment. Here's a little comparison of versions I know of:

There is at least one other version I know of that has no station ID at all, though. Yours apparently is like that.
