Absolutely. So far it’s going to be the same edits, except for the original DS plans and maybe no prequel music.

But what about the suggestion we’ve all had about having the small display start with the original DS plans and then having it change to the ANH:R plans through some static? We all agreed that that was a good compromise.

I haven’t been following closely enough to have seen everyone suggesting this but what would be the point? I get that it is a compromise for various forum members, but does it make any sense in the film, as opposed to just showing whichever version Adywan prefers?
It kind of does make sense, because why would the rebels be looking at inaccurate plans where the dish is in the center and not on the northern hemisphere? Just have the original design be shown briefly on the screen when R2 is plugged in, just to connect it with Rogue One, and then have the screen dial a second later to the more accurate design from ANH:R.

The needle isn’t gonna glow, he’s gonna reinstate C3PO reacting to R2 getting shot and the final shot of Tarkin before the DS explodes. There also won’t be stardestroyers from ESB and no 2D ships flying around.
I’m hoping he can/will fix the flashes on the bottom of the stardestoyer during the opening flyover. I think that’s been brought up before… I know 005 has mentioned wanting this as well.
Or maybe he’s changed his mind on all that. I dunno.

IIRC he was doing something different than the “lightsaber needle” for the interrogation droid too? Often imagined if that would look scarier if the needle was initially inside its body and it suddenly snaps out to be revealed and hazardously extends forward (all while the droid is slowly approaching Leia in the close-up).

I liked your suggestion of the needle slowly extending out as the probe droid comes towards us…but having been lucky enough to get a preview pic a while back, I can confirm that adywan’s latest (still under wraps) version is FANTASTIC and a really satisfying improvement.

I know I’ve heard that somewhere at least, and it seems the better way to go IMHO.

I liked your suggestion of the needle slowly extending out as the probe droid comes towards us…but having been lucky enough to get a preview pic a while back, I can confirm that adywan’s latest (still under wraps) version is FANTASTIC and a really satisfying improvement.

I think it would make sense, it would flow well with Rogue One. I didn’t know about his edit until a few months ago when I watched it, but it was pretty genius adding the planet many years ago … it did add to the DS scenes with it, it gave it scale and made things visually more appealing. Making it look more like Scarif makes more sense, so why not? It basically just needs more green.

I really loved Adywan’s death star reveal. The imperial march tied it together with the rest of the trilogy though i can’t help but wonder if there was a way to blend the well known theme with “new hope” imperial theme just to keep the soundtrack consistent. The only element from rogue one I would like in a new hope is the Scarif planet as well as a better sense of scale with the death star.
has there been any reason as to why there were only 4 ships escaping the death star before it blew up. I would have assumed there were just a few more x-wing survivors.

I agree those would be great to see. If possible, though, I also think it’d be nice if we can catch a glimpse of a K-2 droid walking in the hallways of the Death Star. Could be far in the background in the hallways (to help fill in the void in some areas) while Ben is sneaking around, and/or one could walk past our heroes while they are in disguise and waiting for the elevator. I’m positive Ady already considered all of this 😉
