I really like that idea though! It would be nice to use it when they plug R2 and we see the wrong version. Then when we see the right version via a old 1970’s TV scan-style transition to have that used-in universe look.

I think people are forgetting that while the whole movie and the publicity for it was about the “Death Star Plans”, what they really end up stealing is the -star dust file- Galen left on scarif. My theory is he purposely misplaced the dish so emperials would think it was an outdated version and don’t look too much into it, and the weakness he placed is accurate. That’s what I think.

I also really like that, but another (kinda way-out-there) possibility would be that Galen had secretly embedded the right position of the radar dish, and that file was something the rebels could decrypt.

I get your thought process, but that would be inconsistent with the story. Galen explicitly said he hid the weakness in the death star plans, in such a way in seemed insignificant but would cause a chain reaction in the reactor. Star Dust is the code name for the Death Star Plans, just like the Manhattan Project was the code name for the A-bomb back in WWII.

With that all being said, the best way is to first leave the first image when we see the plans, that then flips to more of an accurate detailed plans. The first image again, could be the original logo/symbol for the death star as the “first” page.

Would a bit of heat haze be something that would enhance some of the Tatooine shots (particularly the FX heavy ones)?

say after color grading, are you intending on making the millennium falcon interior consistent like the rest of the trilogy in terms of warm tones and the little bunk bed area?

also are you desaturating the imperial interiors completely like in your original.

The coloring is looking great adywan! Big approvement over the official blu ray!

I didn’t think Ady would be starting this quick on ANH:R HD. Thought he would be working on the Empire Revisited Bluray. But anyway, nice work on the color grading!

The color grading itself of ESB:R is worth watching Ady’s version, seems that ANH:R is taking the same path of looking awesomely good.

Looks brilliant, Ady! You da man!

Btw does anyone have tips on how to sync subtitles from Project Threepio into Revisited? I mean… is all dialogue the same? Do the scenes last as long as in Despecialized? If that’s the case, I could just move the start time to match Revisited. I need the Finnish ones for my family so they can keep up… and when I’m alone, I always use English ones because there are always things that drown in translation.

ANH:R in its current form has editing/runtime and dialogue changes, so you can’t just change the start time. I know ESB:R has a couple minor dialogue changes, but I’m not sure if the editing changes alter the running time in such a way as to throw off subtitles the same way ANH:R’s changes do. Based on the Battle of Hoth in ESB:R, I’d guess it’s pretty much the same story as ANH:R.

I don’t know if this has been mentioned or recommended - but are there any plans to utilise R1 elements in the new edit? I’m not thinking intrusive stuff (ie Security Droids, Ships etc - although I would love to see that) - but more subtle elements like backgrounds within the Death Star.

The reason I bring this up, is I always felt the Death Star Bridge felt very dark, almost like a stage, whereas in R1 it is much better lit. I’d assume the R1 set was modeled very closely on the ANH version, so might be plausible to source from.

I’ve got an idea. How about we all be happy when it’s released. Those who aren’t can go spend their precious time and money to fix all of what they think he did wrong. Welcome to fanediting.

Yay! I’m almost done with matching the subtitles on Hoth and it’s going great. After ESB, would it be worthwhile to also match the ANH:R subtitles from the NTSC DVD? Or should I wait for the HD version first? Not that familiar with how DVD-synced subtitles work on MKV.

Yeah. How dare people offer suggestions to a project that that is totally open to suggestions?
Especially in a thread that the creator of said project created for conversation, debate and suggestions.

I thought this one wasn’t open to new suggestions? Either way, I feel like the R1-related aspects are worthy of discussion if they haven’t been officially mentioned yet. Especially since I believe his statement on “not taking further suggestions” was from 2011.
