What features can we expect to see in the Blu-ray?

Recent family events got in the way of reporting back on my eventual viewing of your completed ESB REVISITED adywan, but I finally have the chance to say now…that it’s absolutely effin’ MAGNIFICENT! 😃

As with STAR WARS REVISITED, this was a truly spectacular ‘Special Edition’ for me throughout - and I’ll always be in awe that you ended up putting so much effort into the many enhancements that you did over these past years - just incredible really.

You’ve ended up producing something which WAAAAY exceeded my own high expectations for this edit when you started out - and out of the many suggestions (some outlandish!) by everyone, I’ve been very lucky to get the vast majority of the ones I preferred along the way.

Suffice to say that this will ALWAYS be the definitive version of the movie which I’ll want to re-watch from time to time in future - https://media.giphy.com/media/3ohuPqvqWs2pFkeure/giphy.gif

So many, many thanks for all your hard efforts and artistic endevour on this, and I look forward to seeing your eventual DISC release and ‘extras’ at some point.

Of course, your official RETURN OF THE JEDI ‘REVISITED EDITION’ thread is now open for business it seems, and the madness begins once again. 😃

I’ll pop in there with a few things now and then when time allows, but just wanted to pick up on something I’d forgotten about from way back on page 1340 -

The X-wing engines were originally pink in ANH. The engine colour changed when it came to ESB & ROTJ, when they became red. But now, with Rogue One using the original colour for the engines, and the possibility of me doing an edit of R1 for personal viewing, it makes sense to have the engines the same colour throughout.

Okay, I’ve already read that you’re not intending to work on the prequel trilogy anymore, and that’s understandable. I’ve no doubt that ROTJ REVISITED and ANH REVISITED HD are more than plenty to be going on with over the next few years!

However, if you ever get around to fitting in a re-cut of ROGUE ONE for yourself sometime, it would be really neat if you would consider giving us an outline of your own personal preferences for scene removals/or re-arrangements for it someday - as I’m sure a lot of us would be very interested in your choices for that. And the same goes for each of the prequels someday too…although I guess that might involve a lot of work just to list everything you had in mind!

Finally, those pink X-wing engines - Personally, I loved the look of the original RED versions you gave STAR WARS REVISITED - which closer matched what is seen in the current ESB and ROTJ movies…and although I happen to like ROGUE ONE well enough to have come up with an ideal cutlist of my own for it, I wouldn’t have minded if the makers had gone for the ‘hotter’, redder look of the ESB and ROTJ engines, rather than the ANH ones.

I guess it could have gone either way, but I’ll soon GET USED TO IT after a couple of more watches of ESB REVISITED. 😃

Thankfully, you’ve still given the Y-wing engines their original red engine colouration, which makes for a nice contrast when seen in any shots alongside the pink glow of the X-wings…UNLIKE the existing SE of ANH which made some Y-wing engines pink too!

Check out the Y-wing colours on the blu-ray example at the 0:26 secs mark in this comparison vid, for example - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_rcZNdsc30

It’s good to know that your Y-wing engines are gonna be consistently RED for these movies.

I prefer the pink engines for the X-Wings, but it’s worth pointing out that Rogue One also has light gray TIES and clear bacta, which ESB:R contradicts. This doesn’t personally bother me too much since you can headcanon suitable explanations. (TIES could be a later model, bacta could come in different colors or change color based on the lighting)

Amazing amazing edit. You have to admire the dedication and skill this took. It was a joy to watch and perhaps an even bigger joy to follow the making of. Thank you.

If Adywan is still interested in fixing errors there’s a small one that stood out to me. The rain sound effect on the exterior shot of Yoda’s hut sounded a bit loud and “robotic” to me, like it was played in a big metal box. I watched it in stereo, so it might be an issue that appears when the surround sound is downmixed into two channels. If the same rain sound is played in different channels but with a slight delay this might cause a strange robotic echo effect.

I am conflicted about the x-wing engines.

I think the “simple” rationalle is like cars, each year the same model car does go through some changes. Different years have either minor or major over halls.

The pink engines turned into red engines, there is a good bit of time from a New Hope to Return of the Jedi. Tie color changed after A New Hope. It could be the “gray” models came from the Death Star.

Also the Stormtrooper helmets changed to black teeth.

So for HD version of this, we know some of the changes he is already going to make, which are good changes/fixes.

My question is, should the Death Star plans be returned to their original look OR what Adywan did? (Which I am sure was based on Attack of the Clones Death Star Plans)

And … go!

Yes, he will change the Death Star plans to how they originally looked.

Has anyone converted this to a Blu-Ray ISO or folder ?

I have tried and failed.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi jimjimmyjones85
You better wait the coming Adywan ESB-R BR, this MKV one is cropped (1280x544), but you can use some soft (ex:uncrope mkv) to uncrope it, then Tsmuxer to make an iso or BD folder.

Ady I’m late to the party but congrats for finishing ESB! I have taken a quick look at it and it looks really amazing. Holding off the whole viewing for R1 & OT marathon later this month/year. I haven’t watched the OT in years now so it should be as fresh as possible.

Q: I’m a little unclear about the BD – version: Will we have one BD-25 image for the movie itself and extras/making-of on the other BD-25 /DVD or all in one BD-25? I would prefer former way so you could maximize the picture and sound quality of the movie itself. Of course if the making of is mostly still pictures or SD video quality then it would probably not take that much space on the BD-25…
