I just watched TNG S7E13 “Homeward” and Worf dealing with his human brother was more interesting to me than anything he’s ever done with the rest of the Klingons.

Is that the one with a planet whose atmosphere is dissipating and Picard won’t do crap to save the inhabitants because Prime Directive? Kirk would have found a way. 😉

Yes it is, and yes he would have.

That reminds me of the Voyager episode where Janeway explores Tuvok’s past through a mind meld, and she realizes how different Starfleet culture was back then (by basically reliving Star Trek VI from Tuvok’s perspective on the Excelsior.)

Yep, after the TOS era and before the Dominion War, the Federation/Starfleet was well on it’s way to stagnation, complete with the complacency and legalism that goes with it.

They would have done it for one of the 4 releases they brought out this year.

I’m surprised that DS9 isn’t getting remastered given that apparently TNG sold well. I kind of hope that the DC remaster of II is testing the waters to see if we can get remasteres of the others (particularly the DCs of I and VI), but we’ll see. Paramount just don’t seem interested.

Multiple sources actually claim that the TNG blu-rays barely broke even.

Ah. Well, that explains it.

Got to see Wrath of Khan on the big screen last night thanks to Fathom Events. Great experience. It holds up so well, Meyer’s witting script and slick direction have really stood the test of time.

Remember TNG’s “Loud as a Whisper” with Riva, the deaf diplomat whose interpreters were killed? I found it rather curious when Worf learned of sign language and commented that it would have enormous tactical uses. I mean, from a security standpoint, the need to utilize nonverbal communication should be obvious. I know MACO was long since disbanded, but that doesn’t make useful tactical training not worth bothering with.

It’s not bad. But not very good either. I’m just happy they will have a classic opening credits sequence, which is pretty rare these days

Ha! Really though, if somebody showed me the comic book cover from the previous page and asked “Hey Ray, what is this?” I’d say "One of those boney-headed alien guys from ST:TGN."
If another show used that design, Trek fans would complain about them stealing it from Trek.

The Generation Next? Heretic! 😉

In all seriousness, I get it. I think people are already a little too negative in anticipation for this show. It could be great!

I wish they hadn’t canonized the stupid explanation for the difference in Klingon appearance as resulting from a virus in ST:ENT. It’s the Klingon Empire, right? What’s wrong with having different species or variations of a species in vast empire?

I’m right there with ray. If Christopher Lloyd can be a Klingon, after that anything Klingon related is just

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You’re saying you didn’t like Kruge’s character from Star Trek III? I thought he did a fantastic job.

All I could see was Doc Brown in a Klingon costume. I’m not saying he did a bad job, I’m saying he’s too recognizable to play a Klingon.

Nevermind that Back to the Future was released July 3, 1985, and Star Trek III was released June 1, 1984.

Yes, but I don’t think that’s a fault of the casting. The way you worded it makes it sound like in general people don’t consider him a convincing Klingon.

If anything, I’m saying that it’s like you’re saying Hugo Weaving is too recognizable as Elrond to be a convincing Agent Smith, when the reality for people who saw The Matrix and LOTR back in the day would have been the reverse.

JEDIT: But in either case, I actually was never too bothered by, say Jeffery Combs being recast as various characters. I find him to be equally believable as both Shran and Weyoun.
