In Fenimore Cooper’s Literary Offenses, he lists as #5:
“…require that when the personages of a tale deal in conversation, the talk shall sound like human talk, and be talk such as human beings would be likely to talk in the given circumstances, and have a discoverable meaning, also a discoverable purpose, and a show of relevancy, and remain in the neighborhood of the subject at hand, and be interesting to the reader, and help out the tale, and stop when the people cannot think of anything more to say.”
During the reading of this rule my mind went directly to Attack of the Clones.

Indeed. I’d argue that one of the problems with GL’s scripts is that he often tries to write in a pseudo-archaic “literary” style (with questionable success) like in pulp SF novels, rather than a more naturalistic style suited to the medium of film.

I’ve actually given one mullet and trimmed two others. All three guys had various reasons for the atrocity, but also, they all knew they had a terrible hairstyle and totally rocked it. I can respect that. They were all very cool, funny guys.
Nobody asking for a PT haircut is cool or funny.
I’ll have to google to see the difference in Ep2 & Ep3 Obi-Wan. I just remember him having a generic Jesusy kind of thing goin’ on after the Ep1 flattop.
JEDIT: Hey, Obi-Wan’s hair in Ep3 is pretty good! Much better than I remembered. I’m glad the guy said “2” and not “3”. I’d hate to find out I turned that down actually.

I just saw that Barnes and Noble is publishing The Han Solo Trilogy in their collectible editions series. The AC Crispin one. Crap. Why that trilogy? Of everything it has the most chance of being completely overwritten by the new Han Solo movie. Why not the superior Brian Daley books?
It seems like people are really embracing the new characters. In fact, the big question people ask me now about Star Wars is, “Are Finn and Poe gay lovers?” And really how the f*ck would I know? My second husband left me for a man, so my gaydar isn’t exactly what you’d call Death Star level quality. ----Carrie Fisher

The Daley books I can totally understand. I doubt anything in the movie will contradict those. But the Crispen trilogy will be totally overwritten.
The Daley books in a leatherbound hardcover was a grail of mine- so I admit it bothers me more than it should.

Yeah. Brian Daley wrote 3 that came out between Star Wars and Empire: Han Solo at Star’s End, Han Solo’s Revenge and Han Solo and the Lost Legacy. They are some of the best Star Wars books ever.
AC Crispin wrote a trilogy about Han Solo from age 19-Star Wars. They are ok- but will be ignored when we have the young Han Solo movie much like TFA ignored all those shitty EU post-Jedi books.

I knew a guy that had bad haircuts for the simple fact of throwing people off. He said it made people more comfortable and around him. Not exactly a theory I’m willing the test out.

Today I was thinking about how Return of the Jedi could have been written differently for Han to have a better arc and I had an idea which would be to actually see him and Lando begin to reconcile with one another slowly throughout the movie. Lando would help save Han like in the original but Han would still be somewhat salty towards him. They could have an argument scene where it is obvious that Lando wants to make it up to Han. He could consistently start to rebuild his friendship with him throughout the movie. They would be put as co-pilots of the falcon together in the final battle and they would both combine their skills to take down the death star reactor and you could get a really fulfilling moment where we see them truly happy and finally friends again in the moment of victory and pure joy. So then when we see them embrace during the ending celebration it would really hit you even harder on an emotional level.
Too bad that they automatically are friends when we see them back together in the theatrical cut.

Not sure if the exchange was actually shot, as Lando is busy helping Chewie limp into the Falcon in the footage that’s been seen on the Blu Ray set.
