Han - Solo Movie ** Spoilers ** — Page 17

And now a question that’s partially linked to the casting issue:

Would you rather risk a film about another hansoloish character (worst case: the new guy will be meh, so not a big loss) instead of what we’re risking now? (tarnishing Han Solo character/new actor too small to fill Ford’s shoes)

I saw the original theatrical release of the Old Trilogy on the big screen and I'm proud of it...
How did I accomplish that (considering my age) is my secret...

Han Solo’s character cannot be tarnished.

Well that could have been said for Vader/Anakin too. Yet now the PT whiny jerk is ingrained in our memories and pops out uninvited in connection with OT Vader/Anakin.

If you’re watching the OT and you see Hayden that’s your own fault.

Bad memories will pop up subconsciously and there is no choice about that. While one can choose to not accept the content of those memories, they will pop up either way (provided one has normally functioning brain) and pollute the current experience.

Despite having grown up with the PT I can easily watch the OT without thinking of Hayden Christensen whenever I see Vader. As a kid I did imagine Hayden under the mask, but as I grew out of the PT I gradually learned to not think like that. Now I actually find that whole concept somewhat absurd and I can’t really imagine anyone else but Sebastian Shaw. If you’re willing to simply ignore the PT and just focus on the old it really shouldn’t be that hard.

Hayden Christiansen is the farthest thing from my mind when watching the OUT, except maybe in the ghost scene, and that’s just from thinking about the SE change itself, not Hayden the actor/PT Anakin the character.

I guess you guys don’t have functioning brains.

Funny. I always figured being able to mentally separate the wheat from the compost was a sign of a normally functioning brain. Imp’scum sure proved me wrong.

Next time I watch Highlander, I’ll be sure to keep in mind I’m watching a movie about aliens from the planet Zeist.

(No new information really, but this caught me by surprise; “The untitled Han Solo Star Wars Story is slated for release on May 25, 2018.” I though all the SW movies would come out during Christmas from now on?)

They’ve been wanting to get back to May. Glad they’re going to as long as there are no unforseen delays.

Well, I’m hardly complaining, it just came as a bit of a surprise. I imagine it’ll be quite weird to get two SW movies within a six month period. I’m still finding it weird with a new SW movie every year.

Yes, this is right. See Frink, we can agree on many things.

Alden Ehrenreich, yay obviously. Great actor for the Coens, Chan-wook Park, Coppola, Woody Allen etc but Emilia Clarke? Hmmm, she managed the rare feat of actually being worse than Jai Courtney in ‘Terminator Genisys’. If she happily phones-it-in for one popular Sci-Fi franchise, why not another.

It probably won’t be… but I’d love if this was a kinda buddy-caper movie with Lando.

VIZ TOP TIPS! - PARENTS. Impress your children by showing them a floppy disk and telling them it’s a 3D model of a save icon.

Have to agree with the imp on this, it is certainly not my choice to think of Hayden watching the OT, but it does happen. It’s one of the many reasons I choose to avoid episodes 2 & 3, and the main reason I wish I had never seen them at all. I would never claim to have a normally functioning brain, but my own fault? Don’t think so.
