I believe it was called Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace

Chloroform is like that 😉

My friend and I watched a movie sometime around 1992/3 and I remember the cover had a boy on his bike (which we decided was a good enough reason to rent it). The plot was about the kid being transported to a dream-like world that was made up of (it seemed like) bits of other movies. The villain was trying to steal the colour from the world, or something.

I’m reasonably sure the title was the boy’s name followed by adventure, or excellent adventure, or amazing adventure.

This has been niggling at me for a VERY long time. Any ideas?

EDIT: The villain also sang a song about stealing the colour!

My Dad and I watched what I thought was a fun and entertaining flick in the mid to late 90’s on a cable movie channel.

It was an action packed b-movie which had a couple of Japanese assassins chasing some white dude. But it had comical scenes in it and quirky ideas. Like I distinctly recall one of the Japanese assassins was an Elvis impersonator and he acted like The King but just as you would imagine a Japanese impersonator, who lacks a firm grasp on any other American institution, would act. It appeared to be an American production.

I cannot find this movie anywhere and I hope that if I ever do, it is just as fun to watch now as it was then. I hate those movies you loved back when but turn out to be mediocre now for some reason.

Not to mention those TV shows which do the same.

Could it be Last Action Hero (1993)? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Last_Action_Hero

Okay, this has been bugging me for a while. A Hong Kong film about a ‘renegade’ Hong Kong cop, on the trail of either a drug lord or a gang lord. He’s about to catch him when the bad guy goes over the border to China. This requires the cop to go over and abide by the rules of the mainland. He is partnered with a Chinese cop who does things ‘by the book’. All I remember is a scene of the cop sleeping over night in the station, on one of those uncomfortable looking benches, and it was made in the 90’s.

No. I’m very familiar with Jon Woo, and it’s none of his movies.

Sounds like Supercop with Jackie Chan. The original HK title is Police Story 3.

MOVIE #2

An alien male comes to Earth and impregnants a woman. Their alien/human hybrid son eventually develops pyrokinetic abilities, and that’s when an evil alien bounty hunter in human form comes to Earth to capture/kill this hybrid.

I saw this movie in 2001, but it was shot in the late '80s-early '90s. The cover of the VHS had some naked ripped guy standing waist-deep in water, his arms outstretched to a flying saucer hovering overhead.

JUST IN CASE ANYONE IS STILL KEEPING AN EYE OUT FOR THIS MOVIE, YOU NEED DO SO NO FURTHER. WE HAVE UNCOVERED ITS IDENTITY; IT IS A MOVIE KNOWN AS SPECIMEN.

JUDGING BY THE TRAILER ON IMDB, IT IS AN EMBARRASINGLY BAD PIECE OF Z-GRADE CRAP. WE DON'T RECALL IT BEING THAT BAD.

No. Although, watching the trailer has reminded me (er… don’t know how) that the lead wore a leather jacket, I think he also had a goatee. Also, the movie was played as part of a Hong Kong movie season which featured the Police Story movies. I believe Supercop had it’s British T.V. debut during the same season.

Ah, then I’m stumped. I need to watch more HK action flicks I guess. 😉

My family was just watching Around the World in 80 Days from 2004, and one of my brothers was confused when a line was never spoken, which the rest of us remember being from a different movie, which of course would explain its absence. But none of us can remember what movie that was.

The line consists of a joke, in which a character boasts about putting someone in a lunatic asylum because of their ludicrous idea for the “vaccine.”

It obviously took place in a past time (like the film that brought this to our minds).

Any help in remembering this would be cool.

I remember watching a few scenes from some show/movie on TV in the 90’s involving some uniformed children (scouts?) trying unsuccessfully to rescue an older man from quicksand. It then cut to some pirates (I think) climbing the inside of a tower, using a spiral staircase. Seeing that their path was blocked, one of them said ‘Throw me a hook’, and getting it, he leaped into the middle of the tower onto a massive rope connected to a bell at the top. When he landed on the rope, the bell rang out, and somewhere else (the top of the tower?) a group of gaudily dressed people heard the tolling of the bell during their rowdy reveries.

That is all I remember, and it bugs me that I don’t know what show or movie this bizarre sequence was from.

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.
