Wow some of them new shots look really great. I like the Yavin 4 night shot the most I think.

I have no doubts this is going to look amazing on the big screen and they have definitely improved the dialogue from way back.

Got caught in more rain than my very old wipers could handle on my way to class just now, so I bailed and waited it out in a nearby Barnes & Noble and read the first three chapters of Catalyst. Already they’re doing an admirable job of retconning the Death Star plans’ appearance in AOTC into something that makes sense. I bought the book, I’ll let you folks know what I end up learning about Rogue One when I learn it.

Well I’m still not very far in, but what it seems to be going on is that the plans seen in AOTC were planted to goad the Republic into an arms race. The novel begins a year or so into the Clone Wars, and the Republic is developing its own Death Star project having learned about Dooku’s plans after Poggle the Lesser’s capture (I think this might have happened in TCW, but I don’t remember). So the Republic isn’t actually using those plans, and in fact in this early section of the book they’re not even sure what sort of weapon the Death Star is actually supposed to support (enter Galen Erso and his kyber crystal research). They’re working largely from scratch, trying to avoid a Death Star gap.

A little farther into the book, I feel confident predicting that Krennic will be the breakout character of the film. It’s a shame his death at the end is all but a foregone conclusion, I’d love to see more of him.

If they don’t combine into a W-Wing at some point I’m gonna call this the worst movie ever.
