Info: Back to the Future - without DNR & EE

Apparently, there is no DCP rip of BTTF 2 & 3 out there. There is a good HDTV version that can be found for Part II. It's the Canal+ version with its logo removed.

The original Canal+ version without the logo removed slowed down and with synced Bluray sound is the best at present followed by the Sky Anytime HD. The one with the logo removed isn't done very well and you can still see where the logo was in numerous scenes and due to the encode it has lost some of its luster.

BTTF 3, the best at present is the Sky Anytime HD, there is no Canal+ capture available of that one.

Likewise, there are no Japanese Wowow captures or DCP's available of either which is a shame as either one would be the best.

Escape From New York [spoRv] *BD-25 RELEASED*
Time

The fact is it shows more picture, the more the better, John Carpenter and Dean Cundey are well known in making sure every inch of the full frame widescreen was used without dead space when filming their movies. The Hdtv was closer to the Scream as well framing wise which is why it was used instead of the MGM in v1.0. The whole point in the SpoRv v2.0 is to fix any errors with the Scream and I thought it has already been agreed the Scream should be used, The MGM is way to dark and like Snake Burton has said is crushed and beyond fixable and fixing the Scream will be way more fun to play with. Laserdisc Master has already asked which scenes need to be fixed in the Scream as well.

kk650's Miscellaneous Regraded Films (Released)
Time

The thread on the Bluray over at Blu-Ray.com has some screenshots from the original Vhs posted by someone called vidjunkie(Page 9), Tcm broadcast posted by someone called mymythos(page 8), someone else tinkering with the screenshots in Photoshop called jacksparrow900 (Page 8 and 9) to give an idea of what can be done with the colors as well as someone called DMRI2006 who is willing to offer a laserdisc copy of the original color timing (Page 9).

Someone else has requested this over at fanres as well.

Was wondering kj650 if you could do a regrade on the Dracula 79 Bluray bringing  back the colors of the original version before the Director decided to mess around with them and almost make them monochrome. I requested it over on another forum but didn't get a reply. Would think it would be a good project for your amazing skills.

I've had a look at the blu-ray screencaps for Dracula 79 on blu-ray.com and I believe it's too far gone, there is basically no colour to speak of in that transfer, no way to bring back the original colours using that transfer IMHO, you'd need access to the footage before it was graded.

There was someone on the forum there that said if you pump up the colors and change a few other things it basically can be brought back, I believe they included some screenshots of this in practice and compared them to the old vhs copy and it looked pretty spot on. Maybe you could have a look with your amazing skills and tools at your disposal.

Jaws Sequels - HD Preservation (First Post w/ Updates) (Released)
Time

For Jaws 2 I believe the logoless OAR Sky HD cap would be best for a preservation. There is a slowed down 23.976fps version and synced with the dvd audio available over on Usenet. Better than the iTunes version.

Used to have personal Sky Hd OAR Jaws 3 and Jaws The Revenge caps but the picture quality while Hd wasn't anything to write home about, especially Jaws 3, so deleted them.

Like I said above you, I,m sure there was a good reason why your relationship with BT broke down, the image you posted above I cannot see for some reason but I trust it explains all.

Didn't realize you hated Usenet, just thought it was a good stop gap until you can find a new torrent home and the fact it has like 6 years of retention, won't mention it again and look forward to your future updates and releases.

DJ has made it clear that the relationship with BT broke down for whatever reason and I respect his wishes.

As far as BT being a safe place, no torrent is safe whether private or public and anytime you download your more than likely been watched whether you upload or not. The powers that be don't care that you more than likely already own a legitimate copy.

As far as paying for a newsgroup subscription, each to their own, I know I don't have a problem with it but I also respect anyone that does. I certainly wouldn't be happy with paying him directly for his works as that would definitely be infringing on the legality of it all.

If DJ cannot find another torrent community he would be happy with to share his projects then I'd rather have a newsgroup discussion than nothing at all.

Until a better option comes along, maybe its a stop gap, I know I don't have a problem with a monthly fee as long as I get hold of these superb Teamblu releases. Plenty of pars should help with the problem of missing or damaged files and lately files on the newer discussions have been relatively undamaged. Obfuscation should help with stopping anyone outside of the community getting hold of the files and the passwords if needed could be given by pm or such like, at the end of the day how hard can it be to hold of a password. Also, torrents at the end of the day are monitored by the powers that be, even private trackers, and are anything but anonymous where as newsgroups are slightly better on this front even if the majority of us already have legitimate copies of these films in the first place.

Time

I don,t agree, while its not perfect, it's has its positives including the widest aspect ratio along with a brighter image (the MGM was way to dark), too bright in some scenes but this can be fixed from what I understand in this thread along with the other problems mentioned in this thread. The MGM bluray could not be fixed as due to the dark image alot of detail was lost in the shadows. The SpoRv 2.0 can fix the SF and make it the definitive edition.

As far as I am aware yes, I think it's only the SF that has some of the music cues wrong. But in regards to the aspect ratio the SF should be used and obviously fixed for the reasons given above and due to the increased bit rate of the SF compared to the Hdtv and all those audio tracks the size of the spoRv 2 should be increased to a Bd50.

A spoRv 2.0 using the SF as base would be my choice using the hdtv colors / contrast etc, replacing the blown out David 14 computer graphic as best possible as well as minimizing the occasional blue lines. Sound wise the incorrect music cues in various parts of the 5.1 soundtrack need to be fixed as well as including the mono track from the Mgm Bluray.

The contrast is boosted to much, as can be seen by the David 14 green logo computer graphic been blown out so could do with some magic. Also the blue line which appears in certain shots needs removing but on the other hand the framing is the best it has ever been. Again the sound could do with some fixing and include the original unaltered track with the music cues in the correct place.

Definitely version 2.0 should use the SF as its base, mainly because of the framing.
