Just watching the Star Trek 2 cap now and realized that the reason I thought these were looking a little mediocre and washed out was because they are encoded in the wrong color space making all blacks look gray including the borders. They are encoded in RGB PC Levels as opposed to RGB Video Level standard (similar to Dawn of the Dead Jap Bluray) as are all old Sky caps using the original constant bit rate encoder. A quick dip into the shaders of Mpc-BE and selecting 16-235 to 0-255 [SD] [HD] and they are like different movies with the deep blacks and colors I was expecting.
Not everything's free in life, sometimes you've got to pay for the privilege.

I don't think that information is correct - the only German channel that already showed "Evil Dead" is Sky Cinema and they were forced to show a cut-version, because of the German law.
Like I said above, I,ve got a feeling it's just the Frankencut which you can get for free.
The posting I remember was 7th April 2008 (not July I mentioned above) which would make it 2588 days old, you obviously have found a later posting.

Newsgroup postings were in July 2008. Not sure any newsgroup provider can go back that far, I think end of 2008 is the best isn't it.
Like others, I have the majority of these caps somewhere on old hard drives (upto 6 I think).
I just pulled these out of "said" newsgroups only days ago. I use Usenet. If you'd like to find and post yours for others to enjoy ...... that would be great.

Can't remember... is ep. IV the extended version?
No.
The Undiscovered Country is not the extended or Director's Cut (how ever one might refer to it as.).
Didn't realise Usenet goes that far back. Trying to get something going back even further to Nov 2007 but not sure if there is a provider going that far back.
Did you mean VI been the extended version, I don't ever remember there been an extended IV. If you do, I vaguely remember that it is.
Edit: Jetrell just confirmed above me it isn't, my memory deceived me.

While they are better than the Blurays, no DNR, they are old looking prints with plenty of dirt specks especially 4 and 6 (6 has the same aspect ratio as the original dvd around 2:1). I wouldn't call them great like dvdmike. Better is a word I would use.
I would say 2 is one of the better ones.
From what I remember the picture quality was very mediocre.
I have that file lying around somewhere on an old hard drive, it's the Sky UK cap, never realized it was the Director's Cut. Even downloaded the iTunes version in 720p so that I could have the Director's Cut.
Will have to dig it up when I get time and compare it to the iTunes one and see which is better.
Very interesting! Keep us informed as to how we can get this.
Just hope it isn't a dupe of the Frankencut I mentioned above which also had custom German audio synced to it. The extended scenes are sd and the ending is poor hd off the internet with blurred logos.

IIRC the full version wasn't MKV, but a BD50 disc instead.
It's not on Myspleen anymore, I don't know why. The uploader was Myspleen user JunkersHVN, you can send him a message.
Keep a look out on the site that is Blu
Telescope at the ready, thanks in advance.
I never asked for an invite to the splxxn, I,m already a member. I asked where I can find the full mkv of this which isn't on there.
It's not just the color timing, there's also the excessive Dnr and edge enhancement. The Hd-Dvd doesn't have the Dnr (or very little) but the edge enhancement is there and leaves the appearance of a noisy, over grainy, edge halo mess. Not only this, allegedly Universal used an incorrect and inferior Hd master instead of the color corrected one Criterion used for their Dvd which may have helped greatly with the aforementioned problems.
That copy is very poor and compressed and is what was used for the Frankencut on Usenet-4-all. What hasn't appeared is a full HD copy.
I,m amazed like one of the previous posters that after two months of been shown this has still not appeared in a decent full HD cap or at least a re-encoded HD copy. Have no access to the Bits , does anyone who is a member know if it has shown up there yet. Also, would kill for an invite if anyone has one spare.
Could you pm me as well, very interested in this 25gb mkv.
There's a Frankencut on usenet using the bluray and a mixture of sd sources for the extended scenes and a hd alternate ending with both a German and English soundtrack but unfortunately the English is out of sync. It's talked about on a well known German usenet forum.
Edit: The original poster has now kindly posted a supposed synced English track at the same usenet forum.
Over the last couple of days have seen both your Terminator 1 and Maximum Overdrive projects and have to say they are amazing. Terminator 1 now looks the way it should of in the first place and your Maximum Overdrive takes that crummy looking Italian Bluray and somehow manages to fix all that was wrong with it.
Thanks for all your hard work Teamblu. Next, I need to check out your Terminator 2 when I get the time and looking forward to it.
Like I said, I always thought the Jap video was the best, and it's nice to get a bit of reassurance from someone in the know that this is the case, so I will be sticking with your amazing encode once I can get my hands on it which hasn't been easy to say the least.
I thought exactly the same thing about the Jap video been the best due to been sharper than the rest. After reading all these comments on other forums about the slight edge enhancement, I,m in two minds now whether it is the best or like lightsabre has mentioned if the French and Spanish Hddvd encodes are better due to no edge enhancement.
Any chance of getting one as well dark_jedi, would be much appreciated.
Any chance of seeing these on myspleen as can't get hold of a Blu-Torrents invite despite trying numerous ways.
Would love an invite to Blu-Torrents as well if anyone got one spare, can,t wait to check out these Terminator's.
Thanks in advance.
