Some new action figure packaging leaked today. There’s a wolfy looking dude who’s kind of reminiscent of the cantina wolfmen, but the more interesting one is this:
Alt text
Looks like it could be the Greg Grunberg character, but what I’m stuck on is the name Snap Wexley. Aftermath followed Nora Wexley and her son Temmin. Could this be a relation? Or is Temmin going by “Snap” these days? Or is “Wexley” just the “Antilles” of the sequel era, a common name that doesn’t necessarily imply relation?

The quality of those figures look terrible.

I didn’t know there was a rumored flashback scene. I know a lot of people were needlessly freaking out about the idea of one (waah, it’s not Star Wars with flashbacks!) because Carrie’s daughter was cast, and people assumed she would play young Leia. Since we’ve seen her in a shot with Leia, it’s obviously not the case.

Maybe that’s my confusion. I thought a site was reporting a flashback a year ago, but it could have just been speculation after Fisher’s daughter was confirmed to be involved. She may not even have any speaking lines.

Amazon France let the track listing for the soundtrack slip: http://www.amazon.fr/Star-Wars-7-Bande-Originale/dp/B014V6JIQK/

  1. Main title and the attack on the jakku village
  2. The scavenger
  3. I can fly anything
  4. Rey meets bb-8
  5. Follow me
  6. Rey’s thème
  7. The falcon
  8. That girl with the staff
  9. The rathtars!
  10. Finn’s confession
  11. Maz’s counsel
  12. The starkiller
  13. Kylo ren arrives at the battle
  14. The abduction
  15. Han and leia
  16. March of the resistance
  17. Snoke
  18. On the inside
  19. Torn apart
  20. The ways of the force
  21. Scherzo for X-wings
  22. Farewell and the trip
  23. The jedi steps and finale

If this is real it’s a pretty significant leak. Looks to be pretty much in line with the MSW outline.

EDIT: The more I see this discussed elsewhere on the internet, the less confident I am in its legitimacy. Take it with a grain of salt.

The track list has been removed from the French and Italian Amazon sites. It could be real and released too soon, but I’m guessing it’s fake. Also, albums arranged by Williams are usually less than 20 tracks. Another indication that it’s at least not final or fake. They may still be arranging the album.

Now that someone has mentioned it, can somebody explain to me what work of Vader Kylo intends "to finish"?

Vader's last work - we witnessed - was to get rid of the Emperor and convert back to the bright side of the Force...?!?

I've been wondering the same thing.  In the ROTS, wasn't his work to eliminate all the Jedi and to become the most powerful?  Maybe Kylo doesn't want not even one Jedi (Luke) around.  Kylo does seem pretty powerful so I'm curious to know where he learned all this.  Self taught dark lord?

Also, why didn't Luke train Leia to become a Jedi since she is technically a Skywalker?  Maybe she refused and decided it was better to become a General.

I haven't been following all the rumours but has anybody considered that Rey and Kylo Ren might be brother and sister, perhaps even twins to mirror Luke and Leia from the Original Trilogy? The way the positions of their heads are so similar and facing in the same direction in the poster, while Finn is facing in the other direction, and the way their weapons intermesh suggest that there could be a special connection between the two characters. Could Vader perhaps be his grandfather, which would explain even more his reverence of him?

Certainly is within the realm of possibility.  Rey & Ren - doesn't take much of a stretch to make that connection.  That sort of relation wouldn't bother me too much.  Related to Vader would be a drag though.  Your idea of why he may be so enamored with him does makes sense.

I'm just not a fan of Vader.  Didn't find him interesting in 1977, really don't find him interesting now.  He's never been anything other than one-dimensional.

Rumors say that Kylo is Han's son (I'm not sure if Leia is his mother) and Ren is actually Luke's daughter.  If true, I wonder who Rey's mother will turn out to be??

Apparently there are conflicting rumors regarding the next trailer.

A theater in Vancouver says it's dropping October 19th, also when tickets supposedly go on sale.

The other rumor claims we're not seeing it until November but that it is already done and being looked at by the people at corporate, along with some tv spots.

Disney's also going to want to start promoting Captain America: Civil War soon as well. They're gonna be keeping those trailer dates as far away from each other as they can.

There's also a rumor that John Williams recently recorded music for the new trailer.  I'd be surprised if they debuted the trailer in November.  That seems rather late.

GOOD things about the prequels?

Being good in general is no insurance against being bad in a particular movie, especially a Star Wars prequel. Natalie Portman has an Oscar, after all. All I know is that the Palpatine v. Mace Windu confrontation makes me cringe almost as hard as Jedi Rocks, and it's not because of Sam Jackson.

I second that.  Ian is an excellent actor, but not in ROTS.

More OUT Rerelease Rumors from John Landis!
Time

I'm kind of surprised Lucas, of all people, would be the one to say this to anyone.

How does Lucas know what Disney's plans are?  As far as I know, Disney doesn't need Lucas's approval for anything and I doubt Disney would discuss their future Star Wars plans with him.  I mean, Abrams and Kasdan reportedly didn't even use Lucas's treatment for TFA.  Disney didn't spend $4.2 billion to have Lucas approve their plans and actions and Lucas didn't sell it for the same reasons, either.

In any case, doesn't Fox still hold the distribution rights?

Is it a bad sign that they're only taking two years apeice for the new films, or was that the same for the other six and they just took off a year in between production of films?

IIRC, pre production on AOTC was underway as TPM was in theaters. The same for ROTS as AOTC was released.

Also, they seem to be working on scripts for the sequels well in advance. That makes planning the films a lot easier.

Yeah, Rian Johnson was announced as director and writer for Episode VIII over a year ago.

I don't think it's bad sign because they seem to be moving things along quite smoothly.  They're probably more far along with Episode VIII than we realize or they've announced.  I'm sure the casting is finished or nearly finished by now and will be announced when they are start filming at Pinewood next year in March.  Supposedly, the original three (Han, Leia and Luke) will reprise their roles in Episode VIII as well.

Looks like they aren't quite done shooting yet?

http://www.u.tv/Entertainment/2015/09/08/Star-Wars-to-return-to-Irish-island-44570

EntertainmentWeekly has learned that the filming on Skellig Michael will not be about Episode VIII, but a reshoot for The Force Awakens:

Lucasfilm did not immediately return calls for comment, but it’s not unusual for big budget films to reshoot some scenes in the midst of editing, although this one is cutting it close with release just over three months from now. Sources tell EW that smaller scale reshoots have been happening off and on for several weeks, including during the time some of the cast was gathered in Southern California for Disney’s D23 fan expo last month.

Could they be extending Luke's scenes?

Edit and Update: Lucasfilm has reported that this shoot is for Episode VIII, not The Force Awakens.  Sorry for the mess.

CORRECTION: Lucasfilm says reports that Star Wars: The Force Awakens would be regrouping for reshoots in Ireland this month are erroneous and that the actual plan is to begin shooting sequences from director Rian Johnson’s 2017 sequel Episode VIII.
