Yeah, I saw those, it is the same release, but packed with other IDDK titles.

@ Andrea, I'm sure another preservation of the LD will be most welcome by many.

Italy does have a very illustrious dubbing legacy, but as far as Disney are concerned, I'm not a fan of the translation of the songs in the newer dubs, as they seem to prefer meaning over rhyming and rhythm.

The voices are great, though.

The Russians used to have a very rich bootleg culture, after the fall of communism in 1991, films from the west that were only distributed on a very limited basis (Think China, but more relaxed) were now more readily available, but not through official channels.

The Cinderella looks like it is a LD rip, but a poorly made one, and has been transferred quickly with a Russian Goblin translation (One man reading all the parts with the original audio in the background, like the Polish Lektor)

I'm so glad to see others as devoted to the idea of the OTV's as I am :)

However, there is still the question of sharing the eventual preservations, I'll be happy to hear suggestions.

I would say that a private forum would be best, as it would also allow others to share bits that are needed to make full preservations possible.

For example, with BATB, the remastered soundtrack is fantastic, especially in DTS, but the fanfare is the new diamond edition one, so if a member has the DVD of Aladdin, he/she could extract the classic fanfare from it in 5.1, and it could be edited by another member to sync to the finished video.

I could use phpbb.com, but I am not tech savvy enough.

BTW, I have an HDTV WoWow version of Aladdin in 1080p, and I think it serves as a compromise between the low resolution DVD and the overly matted BD, as it is only matted to 1.78:1 and has been edited, IVTC'd and converted to 25 FPS by someone else to fit the PAL DVD soundtrack. If I can have ADigitalMan's restored soundtrack, I could simply merge it with the HDTV source, and change the framerate of the video if necessary.

The video has not been re-encoded, but remuxed.

The audio was exported with the AC3 codec in 384 KBPS, which is the bit rate used on the DVD, so it probably was re-encoded, but it does sound a lot better than the lossy stereo originally used.

As far as sharing goes, using dlc is an option, but how is the dlc file to reach everyone as we can't share it on this site?

At first I thought of an invite based forum, similar to Myspleen but with links, instead of torrents, if anyone has the know how to create such a site.

The re-destruction of the castle isn't on the DVD track, so yeah, it's pretty accurate.

It's not a disc, but a MKV file, with the video remuxed from the disc, and the sound added from the DVD.

I tried to do the same thing with  the DTS track from the Bluray, but there was a sync issue somewhere which I couldn't fix.

I used audacity, which is a very simple tool, merely to cut the Diamond edition opening and add the original fanfare and hoped for the best, and it worked.

BTW, how should I share it? Myspleen doesn't allow Disney, and while I could upload to a service like Sendspace, how should the links be spread, other than PM'ing?

Same goes for all preservations.

Great thread Doctor M, but I do have to agree with The Aluminum Falcon about BATB.

The platinum edition's colors are very bland compared with the LD, and it is riddled with compression artifacts due to all 3 versions being crammed on one DVD.

I do have Molly's first preservation and have synched it to the diamond DVD 5.1 soundtrack if anyone's interested.
