I just now noticed you also post on thedvdetective forums, not sure if you have seen me there or not. Yes, I do buy legit releases also

I actually DID email about that set and I believe it was the guy that runs that site that told me about your set. I thought it was you who emailed me back (I posted the email above) and I was so disgusted by how much he wanted to rip me off for the set. I emailed him back and told him I would pay for the DVD-r's only and he never responded. I guess that wasn't you?

Yes...i'm on the dvddetective forums. Kinda just got on it. I have a good amount of imported DVD's but haven't used their services yet. Not too many that I still need. Mostly japanese releases.

an update: i got the supplements disc. VERY nice menus! I continue to be VERY impressed with this set.

I'm kind of surprised someone would spend so much time and effort making nice menus and authoring them in 16:9 with the original LD markers as chapter stops only to use a mediocre LD player (DVL 919) to transfer them with.
.

How do you know which LD player was used to make them?

And as was stated beforehand...the visual quality is very similar. Personally, I'd rather have nice menus, chapter stops, the commentaries (though they are sparse at best). Shows the person put a lot of effort into the presentation. And I'm really amazed at the quality.

Again...i'm very curious to know how much you are charging people for your set...IF you're not the poster that was mentioned above. Because that guy was ripping people off and I told him so.

www.torrentbox.com is back online now and they have all 4 files.

Yes I posted this above. I'm in the process of getting the other 3 right now. Can't wait! I already have some people lined up to trade copies with!

Strong words from someone who hasn't even seen the quality to compare it, and who has the price completely wrong

Strong words?

Really?

Because THIS is the email I received when I contacted someone:

Were you interested in the
original version of the trilogy on DVD? I do not sell them.
I only provide LD backups on DVD. I only charge for the supplies and
shipping.
They are 16:9 anamorphic and are the best out there. I do have the extras
disc as well.
These are intended as backups only. I can send the DVDs with VERY nice
covers, cases, with label art as well. The covers are the orignal poster
art from each movie and look like an offical DVD release.
Either way, let me know.
Total for all 4 DVDs with artwork with shipping and handling is $60. $45
without the cases, artwork and labels. If you want just the movies, take
off $5, so $55 or $40.
Thanks and again, they are backups only for your LDs.

Unless the price went down for these "supplies"...then that's the price i was quoted.

And FYI the torrents are back up. I'm downloading the other 4 discs as we speak. For free. No charge for "supplies."

Darth Balls...

What do you mean the actual files? The vob files? or you mean the links to the torrents? I have the links to the torrents...but they're down. Vanished.
Personally...*I* think the anamorphic Star Wars looks FANTASTIC. As someone who owns the Definitive Collection boxed set, the SE lasers, and i've purchased about 5 different bootlegs of the original trilogy...this is definitely the best. Obviously not better than the lasers but they've definitely been cleaned up. As far as the TK-47 versions, I can't say anything about those.

I'm not about to let someone rip me off for $60 or whatever it is to buy them when I'm paying for DVD-R's. That disgusts me.

Were your torrent files downloaded from torrentz.com that just went down a few days ago. It went down before I had a chance to download the torrent files for all three OT LD rips. I'd be interested in getting those torrents anyway if you still have them.

I found some more torrents but haven't tried them yet. I don't know if they're the same ones you've got. I'll gladly send them to you. For me to be able to PM you, you've got to allow PM's in your profile first (the padlock icon).

Nope...mine were from torrentbox.com which must have went down sometime last night. like i said...i got all of star wars but I still need the other 3.

Just out of curiosity, what do you have to trade?

At the moment...not a ton of Star Wars stuff as I haven't transferred my god-knows-how-many videotapes to DVD. The only rarities I have on DVD right now are the Holiday Special, The Making of Star Wars & Empire (mastered from the laserdisc) and the Star Wars: SE Electronic Press Kit (mastered from the original tape/1st gen).

I was trying to download the 4 discs from Bittorrent but all i got was star wars before the sites were lost. Does anyone have any links that still work? I got about 90% of the supplements disc....about 15% of empire...and 0% of Jedi. I got star wars and am VERY impressed with the set.

Someone please PM me with a link? Or does anyone want to trade?
